Are there people who unironically see him as a hero or role-model?

He is unironically better than Dan, who ultimately does nothing at all and is just eager to be comfortable.

Dan got his shit together, which is something for a broken middle aged fat boy.

The best people in Watchmen are all the regular Joes who get killed in the end.

They tend to whitewash a lot of his negative qualties but ultimately he was the closest thing to a main character in the book and Moore even purposefully wrote him with few admirable qualities and a shit to of sympathetic ones.

I'd agree that Rorschach was the main character outright, but being the MC doesn't necessarily mean the character is also heroic, like Walter White
People like him and think he's cool(which is totally understandable), but buying into his morals is a different thing entirely

I mean there's a lot of people who do the same for Walter, my point of being the main character is having the most time with their perspective lends towards adopting that perspective if only because you commited yourself earlier. than the rest. We get the most of Rorscach's internal workings ontop of that.

Gee what an butthole. DC have canonically made him right since in the follow on story everyone finds out about what Adrian had done.

Rorscach would probably be pro-Israel despite that being moronic.

Meanwhile the rest of the heroes:
    >fat inventor wallowing in self pity
    >insufferable c**t
    >detached esoteric hyperintellect
    >self-absorbed multi millionaire

We only see him being violent to sick frickers like the guy who fed a kidnapped little girl to his dogs.
Of course he’s mentally ill. He was raised by an abusive single mother. I guess liberals don’t care about mental health as long as you’re a white guy.
Veidt was a madman. Nuclear war didn’t happen in our world so it wasn’t going to happen in Watchmen’s world either. The USSR in the 80’s was plagued with social and economical unrest, it was going to collapse faster than it was going to nuke everyone. Ozymandia’s plan was all for nothing, just like how the Black Freighter alludes to.
Rorschach was a hero and Ozy was the villain.

he broke a random guy's fingers in issue 1 and the bartender's reaction implies that's not the worst thing he's done

No but once it's already been played out and telling people the truth could whatever false peace those casualties bought, why bother?

Why exactly is peace built on lies so sacred?
