Not for me. I hate this x265 shit so much. VLC shits itself trying to play that. I updated it and now it kind of works, but flickers every 10 second or so.
MPC-HC shows black screen.
MPV plays it okay, but I don't like using it.
Maybe I will try MPC-BE.
Also, I think I'm going fricking insane because a lot of the movies just don't look as good as I remember them from my old DVDs. There's something with colors or lighting and I don't know who's fault is this.
>a lot of the movies just don't look as good as I remember them from my old DVDs
Because they literally look worse on Blu-Ray. Download DVD and Blu-Ray and compare them. A lot of the times DVD will look better. Colors will be more natural, film grain will look properly, lighting, everything.
Zoomer spotted. Good software is stable and does what I needs to, updates are pointless for their own sake.

>use this for years just fine >at some point, the seek bar starts acting weird >can no longer just seemlessly drag it where you want or get the exact point you clicked at >acts like theres pre-determined chunks you can skip to >so say you try to get to the 3rd second in a 10 second video, clicking or dragging there puts you at 1 second or 5 second spots
this went on so long i just accept it now but i still dont understand what happened
VLC is better for PCs, due to having more customisation options such as hq denoising. MPV is better fir phines due to having more scaling options. Both are irrelevant though as streaming sites are the best option to watch movies and windows media player is better to organise audio.
>VLC is better for PCs
I used to use VLC. I find the biggest proponents of it tend to be people who never explore the other alternatives. It constantly shat itself and eventually I had enough. It sucks donkey dick at decoding HDR.
How do I install mpv? Why do these Cinemaphile nerds have to make things so needlessly complicated? VLC and MPC is literally just an installer and done.
>Why do these Cinemaphile nerds have to make things so needlessly complicated?
Because Cinemaphilelets like you need to be spoonfed for every little thing, such as installing a media player lmfao
linux gays are mentally ill masochists and enjoy having to debug a dozen modules in order to install a video player that can otherwise be done with a double click.
it’s called efficiency, one guy spends a short time programming something to save hundreds of thousands or millions of people from wasting time.
mpv
I am a linux user so its kinda duh
gotta say cant stand VLC interface
it feels 2004 or whenever
mpv is sleak, but they are hardcore linux moron who have to rely on some randos to do windows "installer" that is not an installer
and normies cant copy directory somewhere, run bat file and set associations...
I am using some scripts
webm - I can cut out webm from whatever I am watching in matter of seconds easiy
autoload - loads all the files in the directory I am playing any file from
autosub - hotkey to download subtitles, but recently it gone to shit because opensubtitles org closed its API and one would have to pay
before I got to mpv
I absofricking-luttly loved bomi
https://bomi-player.github.io/
it was a fork of mpv and the korean guy made actual settings and playlist (extremely well done gui)
and he was super responsive on github for few years of rapid development
and then it died, no more new versions, no more fixes and it stopped playing shit on linux
windows kiddies still can use it
i stuck with that for years and even made my own skin for it which i never released.
it’s the gentleman torrenter’s choice, rather than any of these plebian.lessers
>MPC-HC K-Lite Codec Pack using madVR renderer
I'd like to recommend MPC-HC but with SVP4 using the RIFE AI engine. I only have it set to double the frame rate but it is simply amazing quality and for anyone who hates seeing motion stutter in 24fps video I highly recommend it
MPV was created by a weeb.
Whatever c**t is in charge of their twitter is moronic and half of their contributors have anime avatars on github and there's a post whining about it where they responded with the "normie keep moving this is a weeb neigbhorhood" image.
The bigger issue why it sucks is that they fricking backstabbed and kicked out the actual creator wm4 because he refused to cater to gnometard sabotage and was going to block gnome as a whole.
vlc, mpc-hc, etc. have menus and sub-menus and things in weird places because of weird decisions - it's all very arbitrary and annoying
mpv just plays the video - if you want something else, you specify that as an argument
I prefer it because it works better for incorporating into scripts - you can have per-script controls, UI, video settings, etc.
That only happens if you skip back and forth, so maybe stop being an ADHD moron and just watch the movie and pay attention so you don't need to skip around.
I've literally never seen those glitches happen outside of these 3 scenarios: >pausing for an extended period and then playing >skipping backward in the video >skipping forward in the video
And even then it doesn't happen even close to every time. This issue is wildly overblown, or maybe it just happens on toasters.
It happens so rarely it's never a problem, and it literally never happens while a video is playing normally.

The development of a discussion is not the same as moving goalposts and your refusal to share your PC specs tells me you know that you're on a toaster and blaming VLC for the inadequacy of your hardware.

I've never had it happen like that. I've gotten artifacts, yeah. Like green/purple squares on blacks. I wish it happened to me for giggles.
As I said, that's something which CAN trigger such glitches but it RARELY happens. I don't know what people are doing wrong to see this every single time.

>not autistic enough for MPV >VLC shits the bed because of subtitles but is plug and play >MPC-HC was perfected many years ago and still works like a charm
Also VLC shills are always fr*nch
mpv sucks. >you want a feature, some extremely basic functionality? here's some code, frick you, add it in yourself.
i'm not doing your job for you. that same shitty attitude is shown in the OP.
Having VLC on my TVs are such a huge blessing because I could watch my torrented videos without hassle and if it's subbed content (tokusatsu and anime) it's even better.
So just like mpc with k-lite codec pack which I am using for about 10-15 years? And it does not glitch when I skip? What is wrong with you zoomers that you're willing to use shit software and you shill it on tv?
it's why i originally found it, because I had some old stuff that had its audio so low, maxing all of the stuff on my end didn't work well enough. It will do some magic and crank the volume on anything. It's also easy to fix out of sync subtitles or audio too.
>all these replies saying MPC
I remember using it years ago but I stopped because it wasn't updated anymore and some videos started to not play good. Or is MPC-HC something different?
>resume playback >powerful search >synopsis >cast >poster >play next >skip intros >trickplay files >reverse proxy >multi-user support >multiple client/platform support >recommendations >etc
yeah, why would you indeed? >inb4 "b-bloat, I don't need it... nay I don't w-want it!"
>resume playback
mpv has that >powerful search
my file management system has that, why do I need it in the media player itself? >synopsis
Why do I need my media player to tell me the plot of a movie instead of showing me the movie? >cast >poster
What do those even mean? >play next >skip intros
Yes, mpv has those. >trickplay files
no idea what that's supposed to mean >reverse proxy
You mean accessing files on your NAS when you're not home? I do that with wireguard, it works for more than just media files too. >multi-user support
why would that be a feature of the media player? If I want to give other people access to my NAS (I don't) I am able to do that. >multiple client/platform support
I can connect to my NAS using as many clients as I like. If any platform doesn't support NFS then I can connect to it using samba instead. >recommendations
My file management system lets me search for files with similar tags. Beyond that, I decide for myself what I'm going to watch.
I didn't say anything about bloat. The features you describe are either features mpv has, features that belong to the rest of the system instead of mpv (so they work with all your files, not just your media files), or might belong to either of the two former categories if I had any clue what they are in the first place (what the frick is "trickplay" supposed to mean? seriously.)

>The features you describe are either features mpv has
False, intro-skipping for instance > features that belong to the rest of the system instead of mpv (so they work with all your files, not just your media files)
False again. By powerful search I meant searching for an actor or director and getting associated movies. Grep won't help you with that >if I had any clue what they are in the first place
your ignorance doesn't strengthen your argument

>who said anything about grep? all of my movies are tagged by director. If I cared about actors I'd import those tags from imdb too.
so you could manually edit the file (and need a copy too assuming you're on private tracker, which I doubt) to add tags you'd be fetching by a manual API call to have a worse experience than the one I have by doing absolutely nothing? Neat >you don't even need a script for it, just play those files with the appropriate --start flag. Use EDL files if you have more specific needs.
LMFAO >look up episode >look up intro end >write it down >start each episode with this flag >pray there is no "previously" scene fricking this all up
yeah bro mpv introskips alright. Much like MSN messenger encrypts your messages if you run them through a ceasar cipher beforehand. Jellyfin? Oh it just detects the intro in each episode automatically and prompts me (or does it without asking if I so desire) to skip it.
>>skip intros >Yes, mpv has those.
no it doesn't lol. MPV is jelly/plex-media-player's backend. A polished and powerful front-end is good, which is why it's what streaming services offer instead of a tree structure of links >but I'm not moronic
yes every baby pirate just downloads capeshit through public trackers and double click on them. Non-morons set radarr to automatically search PTP and KG for a movie and automatically download + hardlink it to a library easily read by a media server.
streaming services are the definition of bloat, as they're designed to make it just hard enough to find something to watch that you'll default to whatever is on the front page, which they control.
So congratulations, you have compared bloat, to bloat.

What is on the front page of jellyfin is what downloaded last and what you're currently watching, moron.
i take on set photos with an slr in raw, with a live recording in wav and stitch them together at home.
i have a server farm per film, but it is worth it for the quality difference.
I kidnap the director, cast, wardrobe, makeup, and lighting crews then have the film re-enacted for me in an abandoned warehouse with no cell coverage, with tamper-proof explosive collars attached to everyone linked up to a proximity sensor to ensure nobody wanders off.
i beg to differ.
i use time causality index matricies to slip back in a point in time where events almost identical to the script were taking place and occupy one of the bodies involved, jumping bodies in case of injury or death to that person.
i find this is the only way to really feel immersion.
if the situation hasn’t will have been existed yet-still, then i have a probability arc-gap calculate how events could be shifted for such events to line up appropriately, and set things in motion however far back i need to go, down to individual lines and costumes.

since we’re on the subject, is there any way to change the webm player in browsers to one that doesnt filled the screen with a moronic oversized circle with a triangle in the middle of it?
Moved from MPC-HC to MPC-BE when HC didn't support HDR, I haven't even touched VLC and MPV in ages. Shitty gui's that can't be customised. Headache with subtitles, fonts, positioning... No way to or hard to customise keys, output range locked to 16-235...
MPC builds are perfect in regard to all these shitty copies.
I still have loyalty to VLC because it works and because I've been using it since I was a college guy in the 00's.
I have a lot of memories of having to do shit like installing codecs to get Windows Media Player to view .avi files from Direct Connect so VLC was a huge step-up from that.
I only remember that I used MKV and I think that uses MPC maybe. Had to use that for some reason, I think it was tormenting anime or kamen rider or something.
Anime rippers are morons who think every video needs to be made with the most bleeding edge codecs in the most inefficient ways possible. If I watch older anime in VLC it works just fine because VLC has long been updated to handle them, but any time I've watched newly releasing anime week to week I would have to use MPC because they're all encoded in the most moronic ways possible due to autism over imperceptible quality differences or whatever. But give VLC a few months and it's eventually updated to handle those newer ones, too.
I never have any of these problems with non-anime TV or movies, whether old or new, because the people who rip non-anime media don't have the particular codec autism that anime rippers all seem to share.
No, I said: Use VLC for literally anything and everything except autistically-encoded brand new week to week anime releases. For that matter, just stop watching anime because it's all been trash for 20 years.
MPC hasn't been updated in 6 years, how is it bleeding edge? HEVC is a good codec for all video files, but shines particularly well for animation. You being a technologically illiterate moron isn't reason enough to not take advantage of well established, modern codecs.

Notice that I was speaking in past tense in that part of my post. Figure it out, brainlet. Also, updates to the player have nothing to do with the codecs in players like MPC where all the codecs are loaded separately. Autistic anime rippers encode shit in ways that force you to update codecs to the most bleeding edge releases, which is a problem for VLC because all its codecs are built in and not loaded separately, but over time updates to VLC's codecs allow it to catch up eventually and stop having problems with those autistic encodes until they start encoding it with more bleeding edge bullshit again that demands manually-updated codecs.
Stop acting moronic anon, that was 14 years ago. And there's no "bleeding edge" codec in the MPC release from 2017 and it still opens new anime releases.
When I watched new anime regularly I would have to hunt down codec updates for almost every new series. That's why I gave up on watching anime and just stick to VLC, it was all way too much of a hassle keeping up with that autistic shit.

Got meme images near 20 years old now. 2005 earliest Cinemaphile specific ones.
Once you get used to using MPV and start remembering the hotkeys it becomes so fricking good. Instead of having to navigate unintuitive convoluted menus for random settings you can just make a neat config file with every tweak in perfect order. No bloat, extremely fast, great UX and runs everything AND its devs dunk on tranime homosexuals. Best piece of software in recent memory
VLC
I got into a road accident and WMP couldn't open the one camera recording where it was captured (the file recorded right before and right after could be opened without any issues, of course) and I was able to get that shit working using VLC as recommended by my colleague. it's also the best for porn webms, but this I figured out on my own ages back
Plex streaming 2160p HDR from my 18tb external to my 65” LG C1 and $150 soundbar while sitting in my $2k leather recliner 5ft away. All you really need for a pure kino experience.
VLC fricking sucks now, for some reason if its on "automatic" hardware accelerated decoding some videos will just black screen and only play audio (while working fine on windows media player) and if i disable hardware accelerated coding videos dont instantly prerender. was never like this a few months ago
VLC has this annoying thing where it'll play a bit of the audio if you go back to the start and press play again. Also it has this dumb thing with "Headphones" mode.
I have had no issue with VLC and don't understand how anons are. I reroute all YouTube,TV,movies to VLC and listen to all my music flac files through VLC
I switched to mpv from vlc and my videos started playing in better quality. I was actually pissed that I was getting shafted by shitty vlc for so long. Mpv has also never had an issues playing any video file while vlc would start lagging. If anything plays better than mpv, let me know instead of sucking off your favorite application.
I use MPV when I can. I like the command line interface, settings file, plugins (to easily make webms) and yt-dlp backend
but VLC does play some malformed files that MPV can't
if you know your kino, you know you need both
as moron, i use Vudu for movies. My simple minded family would get paranoid if i Whipped out some ssd or laptop. They will watch anything off Vudu. VLC for music though, 4k downloader, google drive, download onto phone, put on VLC, banger if you use a phone with no service. wifi hungry phone.
I fricking hate MPV autists, these people have been autistically developing and tinkering with this player for 10 years now and they REFUSE to make the most basic fricking GUI for it, it's like they want it to stay in obscurity instead of becoming the MPC-HC replacement that it deserves to be. >hehe casual it doesn't need one
Sorry homosexual, it's 2024, I wanna be able to click with my mouse to make a playlist or add files to my playlist, I value my time too much to fricking use the command prompt for something as simple as that.
Sorry everyone running that ship is a moron. You'd have had the 2nd most popular video player if you made it more user friendly. You could have been the new MPC-HC but no...
You're playing something right now but you want to add a file to the queue that plays next. Any video player released in the last 20 years will let you do that with 2 simple mouse clicks.
tell me, how do you do that in mpv? do you open up your click command line and start typing out directories and names of files you wanna add?
>next file in the folder
what if the next file isn't in the same folder?
>tell me, how do you do that in mpv?
exactly the same way. What are you moronic or something? You think vlc invented playlists?
there's no way to open files or add files to your current playlist with the mouse in mpv because it doesn't have a gui to do it with. So, you have to use the command line for that
So the answer is no then? You cannot make custom playlists in mpv? You can't create a sequence of files you want playing unless you want to mess around with the command line or start writing your own fricking playlist files (absolute state) >I can drag and drop

That's VLC. The question you have to ask yourself is bicubic scaling better than hq denoising and or gaussian blur. And if you can't answer that question either bird aka option is nominal for your pirating purposes. But in all likelihood both cute creatures are avoided during your browser based streaming service patronage. You don't even want a bird. You want a bear. There's an option that changes that, just dick around in the settings menu

for me it's mpv compiled just 10 minutes ago

Neither.
VLC is better for PCs, due to having more customisation options such as hq denoising. MPV is better fir phines due to having more scaling options. Both are irrelevant though as streaming sites are the best option to watch movies and windows media player is better to organise audio.
>streaming sites are the best option to watch movies
Own nothing and like it goy

>streaming sites are the best option to watch movies
>That's right, ALL the boosters.

It's called gate keeping. And if tv and v would have done the same thing, both industries wouldn't be completely ass now.
Gate keeping what? It's just a video software you stupid Black person. Not everything has to be political
gate keeping from tech illiterates
just go to the Control Center of your preferred distro and dl the packages from here.
>Why do these Cinemaphile nerds have to make things so needlessly complicated?
Because Cinemaphilelets like you need to be spoonfed for every little thing, such as installing a media player lmfao
linux gays are mentally ill masochists and enjoy having to debug a dozen modules in order to install a video player that can otherwise be done with a double click.
it’s called efficiency, one guy spends a short time programming something to save hundreds of thousands or millions of people from wasting time.

mpv is sleak, but they are hardcore linux moron who have to rely on some randos to do windows "installer" that is not an installer
and normies cant copy directory somewhere, run bat file and set associations...
I absofricking-luttly loved bomi

it was a fork of mpv and the korean guy made actual settings and playlist (extremely well done gui)
and he was super responsive on github for few years of rapid development
and then it died, no more new versions, no more fixes and it stopped playing shit on linux
windows kiddies still can use it

I'd like to recommend MPC-HC but with SVP4 using the RIFE AI engine. I only have it set to double the frame rate but it is simply amazing quality and for anyone who hates seeing motion stutter in 24fps video I highly recommend it
>built in interpolation for everything you watch
i might just spank you for even suggesting such a thing
it's not for everyone but until commerical video is higher than 24fps the stutter will persist
in 4k the only downside to RIFE AI is the gpu usage gets to about 50% of my 4090
but like I said it looks incredible and is as smooth as silk

MPV was created by a weeb.
Whatever c**t is in charge of their twitter is moronic and half of their contributors have anime avatars on github and there's a post whining about it where they responded with the "normie keep moving this is a weeb neigbhorhood" image.
The bigger issue why it sucks is that they fricking backstabbed and kicked out the actual creator wm4 because he refused to cater to gnometard sabotage and was going to block gnome as a whole.
Can I use MPV with MakeMKV to play Blu-Rays with menus and without having to rip them to my hard drive?
I've used makemkv with VLC to play blurays with menus, no ripping. I don't believe mpv has support for menus
>reflexive accusation of child abuse in response to tame criticism
Plausible deniability
I'm wondering how many cases we're up to now of people calling someone a pedo for having anime stuff then later being arrested for being a pedo.

i've just always used vlc, plus the xbox app has subtitle support. haven't tried anything else on either that or pc recently
mpv windows 11 HDR movies
VLC
>this media player is better because it doesn't have a menu
I don't get it
vlc, mpc-hc, etc. have menus and sub-menus and things in weird places because of weird decisions - it's all very arbitrary and annoying
mpv just plays the video - if you want something else, you specify that as an argument
I prefer it because it works better for incorporating into scripts - you can have per-script controls, UI, video settings, etc.
That sounds autistic and moronic
to me, using vlc like a boomer sounds very moronic and not at all autistic
>it just werks!
>vlc
>literally created a meme because of glitches
it's funny but I don't want that shit when I'm watching a movie
That only happens if you skip back and forth, so maybe stop being an ADHD moron and just watch the movie and pay attention so you don't need to skip around.
no, it happens randomly as well. often updates will suddenly make it forget how to read an entire file's keyframes.
the reason for it is down to how it was designed, primarily, to be able to run (read: emulate) DVD menus. DVD menus basically don't exist anymore.
I've literally never seen those glitches happen outside of these 3 scenarios:
>pausing for an extended period and then playing
>skipping backward in the video
>skipping forward in the video
And even then it doesn't happen even close to every time. This issue is wildly overblown, or maybe it just happens on toasters.
it shouldn't happen in any of those scenarios.
Or, idk, you can use a player that never does that shit?
It happens so rarely it's never a problem, and it literally never happens while a video is playing normally.
>It happens so rarely
it happens every pause or skip anon
its an obvious flaw
i use vlc too but i dont pretend it doesnt have problems
>it happens every pause or skip anon
It happens almost never. Post PC specs.
>works on my machine 😉
>now post your specs so I can move the goalpost by mocking your slightly unoptimized computer
Do you really think it's my first day here?
Concession accepted. Everyone who thinks VLC fricks up constantly is a thirdie poorgay on a toaster.
>describe when thing happens
>move goalposts
>move goalposts
>move goalposts
>I WIN!
>person describes current experience with a program
>it's completely opposite to my current experience with the exact same program
>assume person is not lying or sharing outdated experiences from many years ago
>something must be different between us
>most obvious difference would be PC hardware
>post my specs and ask for person's specs in order to compare
>"MUH GOALPOSTS MUH GOALPOSTS!!!"
The development of a discussion is not the same as moving goalposts and your refusal to share your PC specs tells me you know that you're on a toaster and blaming VLC for the inadequacy of your hardware.
the more obvious difference is you just ignore it when it happens
And now you're just arguing in bad faith by assuming I'm a liar.
When you describe something that happens frequently and consistently as "not a big deal," you establish that you just ignore it when it happens.
>if your experience is different from mine it means you're a liar
You're a dishonest piece of shit not worth talking to, this is my last reply. Sorry you got so butthurt that I pointed out your PC sucks.
>you can only tell the truth or lies
you can also be mistaken. That is what you are. You have described a problem and how to reproduce it, and established you simply ignore it when it happens. You are displaying a confirmation bias.
NTA but why would I use VLC if it glitches on low specs computers while MPC doesn't?
>speccy

True, 42yo autist checking in. But I’m more Cinemaphile than anyone on this board regardless of age, and I’ve got the blood work and naked mirror pictures to prove it, which makes me superior by every metric.
I got into lifting after seeing Zyzz videos on Cinemaphile when I was 17. I plan on going your route, maximizing vitality and minimizing vices. Don't drink, smoke, do drugs or skip sleep and I do strength training 4x a week. Used to go the gym, now I just do weighted calisthenics at home and hill sprints while cycling. What's the problem here
So just like mpc with k-lite codec pack which I am using for about 10-15 years? And it does not glitch when I skip? What is wrong with you zoomers that you're willing to use shit software and you shill it on tv?
yeah, I use K-Lite Full, they also pull the latest from the MPC git. It's fully updated. I'm running 2.1.3, the latest is 2.1.4
Works on my machine
MPC 100% no brakes, never not worked, easy nav, tons of options, audio boost, etc
audio boost?
it's why i originally found it, because I had some old stuff that had its audio so low, maxing all of the stuff on my end didn't work well enough. It will do some magic and crank the volume on anything. It's also easy to fix out of sync subtitles or audio too.
cool. had no idea.

Vlc STILL has that infinite loop prompt bug.
They still haven't fricking fixed it

I remember using it years ago but I stopped because it wasn't updated anymore and some videos started to not play good. Or is MPC-HC something different?
I've been hauling the same K-lite codec pack with MPC install between PCs for like 8 years.
Same.
It just works.

Jellyfin-media-player on GNU/Linux
Do people really not have a NAS in 2024?
I play files off my NAS using mpv. Why would I need a special media player just because I'm serving files over my LAN?
>resume playback
>powerful search
>synopsis
>cast
>poster
>play next
>skip intros
>trickplay files
>reverse proxy
>multi-user support
>multiple client/platform support
>recommendations
>etc
yeah, why would you indeed?
>inb4 "b-bloat, I don't need it... nay I don't w-want it!"
>resume playback
mpv has that
>powerful search
my file management system has that, why do I need it in the media player itself?
>synopsis
Why do I need my media player to tell me the plot of a movie instead of showing me the movie?
>cast
>poster
What do those even mean?
>play next
>skip intros
Yes, mpv has those.
>trickplay files
no idea what that's supposed to mean
>reverse proxy
You mean accessing files on your NAS when you're not home? I do that with wireguard, it works for more than just media files too.
>multi-user support
why would that be a feature of the media player? If I want to give other people access to my NAS (I don't) I am able to do that.
>multiple client/platform support
I can connect to my NAS using as many clients as I like. If any platform doesn't support NFS then I can connect to it using samba instead.
>recommendations
My file management system lets me search for files with similar tags. Beyond that, I decide for myself what I'm going to watch.
didn't you read the inb4?
I didn't say anything about bloat. The features you describe are either features mpv has, features that belong to the rest of the system instead of mpv (so they work with all your files, not just your media files), or might belong to either of the two former categories if I had any clue what they are in the first place (what the frick is "trickplay" supposed to mean? seriously.)
>The features you describe are either features mpv has
False, intro-skipping for instance
> features that belong to the rest of the system instead of mpv (so they work with all your files, not just your media files)
False again. By powerful search I meant searching for an actor or director and getting associated movies. Grep won't help you with that
>if I had any clue what they are in the first place
your ignorance doesn't strengthen your argument
>intro-skipping
see
>grep
who said anything about grep? all of my movies are tagged by director. If I cared about actors I'd import those tags from imdb too.
>cannot explain what "trickplay" is supposed to mean
so you don't know either, got it.
you don't even need a script for it, just play those files with the appropriate --start flag. Use EDL files if you have more specific needs.
>who said anything about grep? all of my movies are tagged by director. If I cared about actors I'd import those tags from imdb too.
so you could manually edit the file (and need a copy too assuming you're on private tracker, which I doubt) to add tags you'd be fetching by a manual API call to have a worse experience than the one I have by doing absolutely nothing? Neat
>you don't even need a script for it, just play those files with the appropriate --start flag. Use EDL files if you have more specific needs.
LMFAO
>look up episode
>look up intro end
>write it down
>start each episode with this flag
>pray there is no "previously" scene fricking this all up
yeah bro mpv introskips alright. Much like MSN messenger encrypts your messages if you run them through a ceasar cipher beforehand. Jellyfin? Oh it just detects the intro in each episode automatically and prompts me (or does it without asking if I so desire) to skip it.
>>skip intros
>Yes, mpv has those.
no it doesn't lol. MPV is jelly/plex-media-player's backend. A polished and powerful front-end is good, which is why it's what streaming services offer instead of a tree structure of links
>but I'm not moronic
yes every baby pirate just downloads capeshit through public trackers and double click on them. Non-morons set radarr to automatically search PTP and KG for a movie and automatically download + hardlink it to a library easily read by a media server.
>>>skip intros
>>Yes, mpv has those.
>no it doesn't lol.
Of course it does. You're being ridiculous.
Sure, link the script.
streaming services are the definition of bloat, as they're designed to make it just hard enough to find something to watch that you'll default to whatever is on the front page, which they control.
So congratulations, you have compared bloat, to bloat.
What is on the front page of jellyfin is what downloaded last and what you're currently watching, moron.
jellyfin isn't a streaming service.

Frick local video
I switched from VLC to SMP after a decade and regret nothing, the whole experience got better
Having every individual frame of the video ripped into uncompressed PNG format and then viewing every frame in sequence in MS Paint.
i take on set photos with an slr in raw, with a live recording in wav and stitch them together at home.
i have a server farm per film, but it is worth it for the quality difference.
I kidnap the director, cast, wardrobe, makeup, and lighting crews then have the film re-enacted for me in an abandoned warehouse with no cell coverage, with tamper-proof explosive collars attached to everyone linked up to a proximity sensor to ensure nobody wanders off.
You can't get a more raw performance.
i beg to differ.
i use time causality index matricies to slip back in a point in time where events almost identical to the script were taking place and occupy one of the bodies involved, jumping bodies in case of injury or death to that person.
i find this is the only way to really feel immersion.
if the situation hasn’t will have been existed yet-still, then i have a probability arc-gap calculate how events could be shifted for such events to line up appropriately, and set things in motion however far back i need to go, down to individual lines and costumes.
you need to up your media budget
I turn on the television set to channel 2,3, or 5 to see what the networks have lined up on my favorite regularly scheduled programs.
since we’re on the subject, is there any way to change the webm player in browsers to one that doesnt filled the screen with a moronic oversized circle with a triangle in the middle of it?
>webm player in browsers
>fill the screen with a moronic oversized circle with a triangle in the middle of it
Firefox doesn't do that.
Moved from MPC-HC to MPC-BE when HC didn't support HDR, I haven't even touched VLC and MPV in ages. Shitty gui's that can't be customised. Headache with subtitles, fonts, positioning... No way to or hard to customise keys, output range locked to 16-235...
MPC builds are perfect in regard to all these shitty copies.
main reason I like mpv is its the only one that can, by default, have no UI and the top bar can be removed.
iina on mac. never going back to VLC
foobar
I still have loyalty to VLC because it works and because I've been using it since I was a college guy in the 00's.
I have a lot of memories of having to do shit like installing codecs to get Windows Media Player to view .avi files from Direct Connect so VLC was a huge step-up from that.
Anyone nostalgic for the 00's should get a lethal injection
I only remember that I used MKV and I think that uses MPC maybe. Had to use that for some reason, I think it was tormenting anime or kamen rider or something.
K-Lite Codec Pack
what's the pros and cons of each?
its the same
For me, it's still winamp

real time player
Even back then we knew better than fricking VLC
So, all I'm reading is to not use VLC, got it.
Stupid moron.
>MPC hasn't been updated in 6 years
>random fork
When you're reaching this point of cat and mouse game when forks jump from Indian to indian in a desperate attempt to keep the project alive, it's time to give up
>When you're reaching this point of cat and mouse game when forks jump from Indian to indian in a desperate attempt to keep the project alive, it's time to give up
bruzza this is how most critical piracy infrastructure stays alive
PTP isn't run by indians and has been going strong for like 17 years.
>he actually thinks there aren't indians in his favorite project
>MPC hasn't been updated in 6 years, how is it bleeding edge?
>When I watched new anime regularly I would have to hunt down codec updates for almost every new series.
Maybe it's different now, but that's how it was for me 10-15 years ago.
MPV is just a Cinemaphile meme.
For me, lots of video files look darker and a little washed out on MPV compared to vlc
try immersing your monitor in mineral oil for a similar effect with vlc
PTHC of course.
mpvnet of course.
>potplayer for me films
>winamp for me choons (with my Avril Lavigne skin of course)
>irfanview for me pics
YAP! all I NEED!
I used Irfanview for all of it. Admitedly it's music player isn't that great for long-background music listening but in that case I can always just load up an album rip file or something for that.
Got meme images near 20 years old now. 2005 earliest Cinemaphile specific ones.
MPC is far more reliable and accessible
I use vlc because it just werks.

VLC fricking sucks now, for some reason if its on "automatic" hardware accelerated decoding some videos will just black screen and only play audio (while working fine on windows media player) and if i disable hardware accelerated coding videos dont instantly prerender. was never like this a few months ago
>updating functioning software
skill issue
i didnt even realise it defaulted to automatically updating, israelite bastards
VLC has this annoying thing where it'll play a bit of the audio if you go back to the start and press play again. Also it has this dumb thing with "Headphones" mode.

the topic of next thread: will trannime weebs ever get a job?
MPC is the best because its subtitle resync just werks. That's important when you watch lots of non-English media.
Switched to MPC-BE years ago and never looked back
best fork of the best player, still gets updated and support HDR
Potplayer is the best, VLC is dogshit with no HDR support
I switched to mpv from vlc and my videos started playing in better quality. I was actually pissed that I was getting shafted by shitty vlc for so long. Mpv has also never had an issues playing any video file while vlc would start lagging. If anything plays better than mpv, let me know instead of sucking off your favorite application.
I use MPV when I can. I like the command line interface, settings file, plugins (to easily make webms) and yt-dlp backend
but VLC does play some malformed files that MPV can't
if you know your kino, you know you need both
MPV and MPC-HC (updated) as a backup. No problems.
VLC
I'm finding VLC craps itself if im chromecasting and pause it, I have to close and restart the whole thing
as moron, i use Vudu for movies.
>You could have been the new MPC-HC but no
MPC-BE is the new MPC-HC
PotPlayer is better than VLC in every single way and MPV is a mess

if you immediately think of cp and pedophiles when you see anime girls, something is wrong with you
mpv for sure.
>muh interface
Learn how to use a keyboard.
You're playing something right now but you want to add a file to the queue that plays next. Any video player released in the last 20 years will let you do that with 2 simple mouse clicks.
tell me, how do you do that in mpv? do you open up your click command line and start typing out directories and names of files you wanna add?
I have one of those plugins to play the next file in the folder. You don't?
>next file in the folder
what if the next file isn't in the same folder?
there's no way to open files or add files to your current playlist with the mouse in mpv because it doesn't have a gui to do it with. So, you have to use the command line for that
not on cellulloid. I have no idea what you are talking about. I can drag and drop files into the UI
So the answer is no then? You cannot make custom playlists in mpv? You can't create a sequence of files you want playing unless you want to mess around with the command line or start writing your own fricking playlist files (absolute state)
>I can drag and drop
Yeah not what I'm talking about. PLAYLISTS.
are you literally fricking moronic?
He wants to create .m3u playlist files.
what do you think the save playlist button does?
yes, yes you are literally fricking moronic
>yes, yes you are literally fricking moronic
You LITERALLY started this by saying
>muh interface
>Learn how to use a keyboard.
Then you post mpv with a fricking gui, moron.
That's a fricking GUI dumbfrick, that's not MPV
>tell me, how do you do that in mpv?
exactly the same way. What are you moronic or something? You think vlc invented playlists?
celluloid chads rise up
Imagine a pigeon and it has lazer beams coming out of it's eyes, it can shrink or expand without losing detail. It's pretty much the best pigeon you ever saw. That's MPV. Now remember the most dishevelled dishwashing detour of a bird that eats chips semi silently, but you can stick a pair of headphones into it and somehow hear the sound of russian compresson algorithims. And that bear is the yandex.com search engine. It answers yes to every question like "how do I illegally break the law?".
Just type the name of your desired movie into it followed by watch online. The quality will be bad especially around blacks, as it always is, but you get what you pay for.
>mfw watching kino with mpv
