The actual number of people who do care about Peter Parker is a lot smaller than people think. The people who watch the movies don't give a shit, it's just a flick to them.
Untrue. Peter Parker is Spider-Man from everyone to casuals to the incels. The only good thing is they can't even raceswap him because Miles exists.
Spider-Man never stopped being popular since its introduction back in the Silver Age. His popularity is the reason movies about him were made, not the other way around.
The last empirically successful capeshit was about 3 Peters. MCU is bending itself backwards to make Peter the lead of the next Avengers. The entire future of the genre relies solely on Peter Parker.
