I feel bummed for the staff losing their jobs, but it really is the fault of the corporate management rapidly expanding their company without actually setting the support and infrastructure to keep that stable. Popularity, especially in the modern zeitgeist where its changing so rapidly, does not guarantee commercial success, but as someone not into RoosterTeeth, I could have seen them cementing themselves as a pillar of new media if they just planned their navigation ahead of time instead of ' We have an audience, so we must expand, expand, expand to grow that audience!'

I generally wonder where Screwattack would be if they hadn't sold themselves to RooserTeeth for DeathBattle. Now that years have passed, Craig has admitted that he always regretted letting Death Battle become the identity of Screwattack and for selling off the company. He's tried multiple times to essentially resurrect it, but without the momentum he had in the early 'modern' internet of the late 00s, nobody cares or likes him. Do you guys think if they had never teamed up with RooserTeeth that Death Battle would have been enough to keep Screwattack relevent? Or do you think the only reason Death Battle even stayed in the limelight was due to the backing of corporate hands thanks to a tangible relationship with Warner and Co. through RooserTeeth?
Screwattack would have died anyways with the splintering of review and transformative geek culture channels into personal brands that ended up consumed by weirdo politics on both sides of the culture war. Either that or it would have gotten bought and mismanaged by someone else. If, say, The Escapist had been sold early we might have been theorizing about what the combined force of Jim Sterling, MovieBlob, and Yahtzee would have been like in the mid to late 2010s, when in reality all it managed to be was a paycheck for the latter and a line item for the idiots who bought it up until it basically couped itself out of existence.
