Imagine if he was talking to you, what would you think in that immediate moment?
I'd cave almost immediately. Denzel was too charismatic. Ethan's character was really admirable for sticking to his principles. I would've taken the money and moved far away with the missus.
feeling comfortable, anon?
ngl I'd probably piss myself and start to cry when he raised his voice
>see these weird cowardly self depreciating posts
>remember its euro posting hours
ah. everything makes sense
If it was you instead of him you'd probably fold too, homosexual.
sorry euro gay, im not a worthless excuse for a man
thats not even the entire point of the movie and character though. his problem is that he ramped up things too fast and hawk couldnt figure out if he was testing or joking with him for a while until the very end. even if he actually was corrupt, he wouldnt have been spilling his beans and working out illegal schemes first day on the job with a new guy after knowing him for literally ten minutes
He was on the clock, the Russians were after him.
Alonzo's temper is what got him killed.
the one weak point of the movie is that hawks shit and the russia story arent actually connected at all. alonzo just decided to try to train a new corrupt lackey on the same day hes got to have a scheme down down perfectly before midnight or else he gets assassinated
i dont care if you believe me you eurotrash coward manlet
And I accept you concession fat frick
>alonzo just decided to try to train a new corrupt lackey on the same day
It's possible. He was running out of options. A rookie might be easier to steamroll than getting an experienced guy in your unit. He probably didn't know who to trust at that point. When you're a liar, you see liars everywhere.
but he didnt need him at all. he has nothing to do with the russia plot and has no role to play
i think it was just because he thought testing him with some real shit would be the best way to see if hes going to pan out which was why he was so prepared to deal with him if it didnt work out but he still has nothing to actually do with the russia thing
Alonzo sets up Hoyt with PCP and shit so that Hoyt takes the heat for the Roger incident but then Hoyt decides to stand his ground so he has to go.
>Alonzo sets up Hoyt with PCP and shit so that Hoyt takes the heat for the Roger incident but then Hoyt decides to stand his ground so he has to go.
no sorry thats not what was going on
I invite you to rewatch the movie slower and with subs enabled maybe because it's exactly what was going on. Alonzo even mentions the "rookie above suspicion" when Jake is pointing the shotgun at him.
did you honestly not watch the fricking movie? the roger incident was played as hawk being a rookie hero by getting shot at first and then returning fire. thats it, case closed. he had like 4 other cops to back up his story along with material evidence. they even shot hawk to make it look more realistic. alonzo already cleared the roger hit with the wise men too so there was nothing to worry about
the pcp stuff was about testing him and trying to blackmail/bully him into playing ball. youre seriously a brainlet moron
alonzo fricked hoyt up on pcp so he could have plausible deniability to any/all of his actions committed that day
Yes, this doesn't contradict what I said.
You're so confused, Hoyt isn't the one they fake the shots on you stupid Black person it's another established goon of Alonzo.
And there was obviously something to worry about otherwise they wouldn't coerce Hoyt into being the shooter. God you're so dumb.
yeah his goon got shot. it doesnt matter. they have the rookie do it as a test and to help deflect and suspicion like you already said the "rookie above suspicion" line
youre just confused and i guess havent seen the movie for a while but want to argue like you just watched it. he wasnt going to have hoyt take the fall for roger, the roger stuff was all tied up neatly
You're the one misremembering scenes dumbfrick. And if you agree to the Roger stuff being tied up neatly because of Hoyt then why are you crying about him playing no role in the russians plot when those two are obviously linked?
I'd have to rewatch to movie, but I think Hoyt was forced on him. He probably needed a new guy in his unit, got a bunch of candidates and he picked Hoyt because he thought Hoyt would be the easiest to manipulate. I mean, Hoyt smokes PCP because Alonzo tells him to do so.
Not a good argument. Hoyt thought it was weed. Still, I don't think Alonzo 'decided' to bring in a new guy at the last moment. It came from the brass
Alonzo probably accepted the new guy to use him in the scheme to pay the Russians. The fact it was the last day was just bad luck.
If the new guy was dumb enough to not follow it, he would die there; if he was into the whole thing, then Alonzo just got another one in the team for other stuff. He sent him to the Mexicans when he saw he was neither and the money was safe.
Denzel is 6'1", fit and carrying at least two pieces in this. He'd mog you so fricking hard you'd be crying for mommy and daddy as well.
im taller and bigger and ex-military. its not really an issue and youre still a coward if you let someone dictate your behavior just because hes taller than you. you euros are almost like a completely different species. its fricking pathetic. no wonder slav chads are completely collapsing your entire society
post physique
American 'military'.
It's not self depreciating. You can hypothesize all you want, but you never know what you're going to do unless you're put in that situation. I think they had a kid on the way, and that's the only way his character makes sense. He wants to make the world a better place for his kid to live in. I'd never take a bullet to the head and vouch for the world we live in. Frick that. Take the money and run. If you have a kid it's different: you've got a stake in the future.
if he cared about his kid he wouldnt be a cop and in what way does playing zoo keeper for Black folk make the world a better place? black crime would be solved in a month if cops werent there to protect them
>if he cared about his kid he wouldnt be a cop
That's true. Especially not in a dangerous area like that. So maybe that's a flaw in the movie.
>I want to make a difference
It makes sense, within the world the movie shows. He's a naive preppy. A poop butt ass.
Why would Brad Pitt be a cop in the movie and move to a shithole? It's still a movie.
europoors living rent free in this poor broken buck burger
there was some street truth, of course, but his whole plan involved fricking him up on crack and manipulating him.
>learn that shit brother re:spanish
he should've learned spanish because those mexican guys were speaking it later
>The day that you bring your old lady to the office is the day that you don't make it back home.
>To Protect The Sheep You Gotta Catch The Wolf, And It Takes A Wolf To Catch A Wolf
>It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove.
>It Takes A Wolf To Catch A Wolf
Nah, a wolf can get caught by people, big cats, bears, coyotes, hyenas, even badgers and wolverines, not to mention all the large animals in Africa like elephants and hippos which is why they are almost extinct in Africa, plus a number of random scavengers and parasites.
one of the best villains in all media. reminds me of the vilian from 1984. just pure shithead crazy evil and he doesnt give a frick about it
>Training Day
>American Gangster
Denzel is a generational actor. So many mediocre movies. They only survive by the courtesy of him being in it. Remove Denzel and you've got no movie. And don't give me that 'Man On Fire' bullshit. It's a terrible movie with terrible writing. It's capeshit and Denzel carried it. I've seen a lot of his movies and he's basically on par with Cruise when it comes to picking parts: most of their movies are bland. You only watch it because they are in it.
man on fire is one of his best movies. is this another case of moronic nutless eurocucks being friend by action or something? its routinely talked about as a top tier action movie
afraid of action*
You can call me a nutless eurocuck all day. Name one 'classic' Denzel was in outside of the two ones I already mentioned. He's got a couple of good ones, but they aren't even remembered or mentioned today, what makes you think they'll be mentioned in fifty years. I just think his talent was wasted on mediocre parts. Remember 'The Magnificent Seven (by Fuqua)? No you don't. Because the movie was shit.
*Philadelphia
>its routinely talked about as a top tier action movie
No it's not.
jesus is this your argument? take a good actor out of a movie and its no longer good?
nta, but if it was a good movie yes you would expect it to hold up with a different actor in the lead. a great actor can elevate a good movie to greatness, but his absence won't make a good movie suddenly not good.
The first Terminator would've been great, regardless of the actors. You could replace them all and it would still be a great movie.
My dad thinks Man on Fire is the greatest movie ever made.
I bet he loves 'The Last Boyscout' too. And the Lethal Weapons. Cherish those moments. Nothing like Dad-Son movie time.
Training Day's script honestly sucks, it relies on convenience and deus ex machina turns so much. In retrospect, it's like a gritty cop thriller story that Peter from Family Guy or guys from Sunny came up with, bordering on self-parody. You can tell it was written by a 105 IQ midwit who only got his foot in the door because he's israeli, everything else he's done since has been just Training Day again, only without being carried and elevated by the cast.
What makes Denzel as a villain work so well, why is he so intimidating? It's not just because he's black.
He has gravitas.
