No he was only killed after the onion rings were served.

Good point! Tony may have simply died instantly from a heart attack. All the pretext in the show about dying and every thing going black after death. It doesn't matter. Tony died. Simple as.

they foreshadowed the ending and people just dismiss it as a coincidence. No fricking way it was a coincidence.

Yes, in 3 years with AI. I expect a Sopranos derivative to be among the first live-action AI shows.

this makes sense. A.J alludes to an occasion where Tony told them to appreciate the small things in life, which Tony didn't remember, That was the way the show told us Tony was a dead man, dead because he fell into moral/spiritual nothingness.

We're not supposed to know. A lot of the time when someone is killed in Sopranos, only a select few people know what really happened. But as per the mob's code of silence, they don't talk about it. There's always a few throwaway lines from other characters in later episodes that showcase this.
Richy and Big Pussy in 'witness protection'
Adriana running away with another man
    Shit like that.
Chase is the only one who knows what happened in this scene and he's keeping it quiet, and we're the rest of the world speculating. He actually pulled us into the world one last time and we're still talking about it to this day.

I don't take anything he's said recently as his original intentions. Only the one or two interviews during the initial shock/controversy.
Now, with Gandolfini dead and Saints of Newark critically panned, he'll say anything to stay relevant.

Actually, Noah punches his lights out. How fricking moronic can you be? He looks up, and then the screen goes black. Only Noah from season 3 hinted at wanting to do that.

Tony didn't die, the fat in his body blocked the bullet so it didn't hit any vital organs

      Fat Pete Chiodo
      >On May 8, 1991, two shooters ambushed Chiodo at a gas station in Staten Island, where he was working on a car. Chiodo received 12 bullet wounds in the arms, legs and torso, but survived the attack.[261][264] Doctors credited Chiodo's massive girth for saving his life; none of the slugs penetrated a vital organ or artery.[262]

No he wasn't. But he could die or be killed or arrested at any time. Which is the point of the entire show - if you're in organized crime, you can be killed from behind in front of your family, despite the money and the girls there will always be a sword hanging over your head, stressing and sucking the joy out of your life.

Martin Bruestle said the original edit of this scene had the song sounding more accurate to how it did on location, coming from the ceiling and sounding more tin-y like from a speaker. Do you think that would’ve ruined the scene or would the effect still be the same?

    This scene:
    > You look at Tony.
    > Tony looks ate you for the first time.
    > Tony teleports behind you.
    > "Omae Wa Mo Shindeiru."
    > "NANI?!"
    > But it's too late... You, the audience, are already dead...

Should've cut to black from Tony's POV, as he's watching Meadow enter the building, from his POV. Then the hard cut to black would have made sense and been more emotional.
Regardless, the ending sucks and the final season felt like an acid trip.

Yes. That's what makes death so sudden. He would see a hunter from a mile away and smell betrayal coming around the block but not his own food habits. That was the trojan horse that brought the soprano down.
