The pilot featured Alan, which made people assume he would be a main character. Instead, Alan, Glep, and the Boss were sort of rotating side characters, with Charlie and Pim as the only mainstays.
This was probably always the intention, but one can see why many expected more Alan than we got.

i’m the guy who made the graphic and i was incredibly surprised to find that i not only was not the first person on Cinemaphile to try to point out the neopuritan undercurrent in the show, but not even the first namegay to do it. it just kinda shows how purposeful Zach’s insertion of his politics into the show was

The Mr.Frog episode is the Glep spotlight and Frowning Friends was the Boss’. I think this season was just us getting introduced to the cast
