Yes.
It was ludo.
Why do brown hispanics keep coming up with moronic terms
ludo refers to videogames, not movies / tv shows
im fricking dying ive never heard this before. good job Cinemaphile good meme what the frick does ludo mean holy shit
It was a meh show until the last few episodes.
The characters were paper thin and the pacing was fricked.
Eps 8-10 were kino though.
Misery porn/10
kinda
Very good overall but I hate how they ruined Ryo's character design
Ryo didn't have character design, it only existed to infodump on the reader in the first issue.
Anon Ryo just have to be blue eye, blonde and pretty boy to be good design
too sad, I cant take sad endings anymore
The happy ending is in Violence Jack
it should be illegal to create such a lust provoking character
The frick is that, the Honey-Comb cereal anime commercial?
Crazy how there's like no hentai of her
Jenny is just a big fluffy head. Not much to work with there
One of the best things Netflix has produced
Yes.
yes, extremely
This and Kaiba are the only two good things Yuasa has ever done.
Ping pong would have been better without his shit animation style.
the "ugly" style helps humanize the characters so they don't look like perfect anime people
It was cool the first time he did it. You can't keep milking the same gimmick forever.
this is one of the worst opinions ive ever read also mindgame is fricking amazing
garbage opinion
ping pong was kino, and the faux-rotoscoped animation style is not only excellent, but it gatekeeps (most) of the braindead weebs out of watching it and ruining it with autistic fandoms (like chainsaw man and rick and morty, both of which I have never seen, but hate solely because of the audience).
>sleeping on Chainsawman and Fire Punch
You're missing out, Fujimoto is the best mangaka alive today
I generally don't like anime and manga at all. Ping Pong had soul though.
>Chainsawman
this looks like edgy/quirky mindless violence tho
I Am a Hero (the most recent manga I followed) had some insightful moments and attempts at depth beyond the zombie survival pretense
can you tell me why I should check Chainsawman?
The MC is literally you
>can you tell me why I should check Chainsawman?
nta but MC is an horny uncultured hobo teenage moron but still a good person you can relate
it may sound stupid but it makes for some over the top unexpected comedy it subverts alot of mango cliches and tropes in a funny and good way (its not muh deconstruction if youre wondering)
Fire punch is absolute deadpool snapback tier dogshit
>shit animation style
You are moronic. Stop talking about art, you have no idea what looks good.
You got real fricking filtered. He doesn't even have a single "style"; Ping Pong looks nothing like Mind Game which looks nothing like Lu Over the Wall.
You can find it overstimulating and odd but don't deny he's one of the only anime creators who really crafts the animation for its own visual sake and doesn't just cut corners to shit out as much generic shlock as possible like the rest of the industry.
ping pong isnt yuasa's style its a straight adaption of the manga.
This show was terrible and I have to assume that the only reason it receives praise is that the zoomers who watched it had never seen anime that tried to be “deep” before. The plot may as well have been written by an edgy fourteen year-old. I laughed when people were literally waving around the main girl’s decapitated head on stick like it was supposed to be shocking.
gonna doubt you know it's based off a 70s manga, also, she got it worse in an earlier OVA adaptation.
>muh depth
Whatever that means
>zoomers who watched it had never seen anime that tried to be “deep” before.
Go Nagai fricking invented everything you love about anime, you goddamn child. Berserk would not exist without Devilman, Fist of the North Star would not exist without Violence Jack, magical girl series would not exist without Cutie Honey. Show some fricking respect.
Violence Jack's OVAs suck in comparison to FotNS's adaptation. Wonder if the manga is any good.
>rape
>cannibalism
>foot-pressed decapitations
>veganas jammed with pipes
>not kino
and yet the direction still somehow made that shit boring
>I never saw the original but going to try to lecture people as though I have
Ask me how I know you are a poser
>the antichrist kills his best friend
>in order to feel the anguish of humanity that always eluded him while executing his plot of total domination
>this is all just an elaborate plot by god to punish him
eh it was ok, there's better out there. I'd sooner rewatch this than blue eye samurai.
>the antichrist kills his best friend
it's lucifer, not the antichrist.
Nothing will ever top the English dub of the original anime
I take it this has something to do with Devil May Cry?
No, that one is actually good.
I liked the rappers
No because they killed the pixie cut tomboy.
It was trash, the manga is a masterpiece.
I read the manga and watched the The Birth/Demon Bird. I loved it all, but I never saw the Crybaby adaption. How disappointed am I going to be with it if I decide to try it?
It's stylish as hell and extremely well executed, but some people are triggered by the modern fashions and music, but even if you hate it it has a techno remix of Devilman No Uta that you can jam to
It's Devilman but Yuasa's changes ruining the story and characters.
Damn, that's what I heard when it came out too. I'll just skip it then
I liked it but i only watched those ovas after, i think if i watched them before i probably wouldn't have liked it especially the animation style.
Yes.
OST was kino, minus the cringe rap segments.
Literally made in Adobe Flash. You can't go lower than that. The pacing and the plot are awful, everything happens in a blink, there's no room for anything but extremely short dialogue and extremely short fight scenes. The manga is thousand times better. Hell, the first two OVAs are thousand times better. Damn, even the Amon OVA is much better than this crap.
No, watch the original OVA
No, it was absolute schlock and not a patch on the 1980 OVAs. Even the Getter Robo crossover had a better version of the Jinmen fight.
>That stylish Ryo
The Demon Bird was just perfect. It was the sort of movie that got you into anime back then all by itself. I remember renting both The Birth from Blockbuster Video for one weekend, absolutely loving it, then renting The Demon Bird the next weekend. Best weekend movie choices I ever made. Go Nagai is a world treasure

Watching it rn
Why people talking in japanese, english in russian??
Artstyle is disgusting
damn. I remember when that was me.
>devilman crybaby
Why do japs give things such moronic names?
The show is about an emotional, crybaby devilman and how blurry the line is between a "devil" and "human"- eventually ending with everyone on earth becoming a devilman. But I do agree japs are bad at naming shit.
Yes though its probably the worst thing Masaaki Yuasa has directed, still great though.
rare miss from yuasa. the pacing was fricking terrible
>anim--
it's trash
always trash
The ending goes hard as frick. That scene where all the remaining humans are bunked up in that mesa in the desert, doing fricked up experiments on the beastmen people and hell's forces are getting met with missles and shit it is the most apocalyptic feeling thing ive ever seen in a show or movie. Humanity being reduced to that after what happens in the whole series really feels bleaker than anything ive seen before or since.
Yo that's Devil from Tekken!
Crybaby isn't a direct adaption of Go Nagai's story, but a reinterpretation of it, keeping some of the original story's ideas while going off and doing its own thing, with mixed results
I read the original manga afterwards and liked it a lot more than the netflix adaptation. Turned me off from watching the director's other works. Wanted to watch Tatami Galaxy but this was shit
The Black person music and anal sex ruined it.
Devilman was never good.
as someone who literally had no idea what devilman was outside of that one cyborg 009 crossover i watched out of curiosity, i liked it. devillady when?
>devillady when?
There's a 90s series but i never saw it, maybe someone who has can say whether it's any good.
>There's a 90s series but i never saw it, maybe someone who has can say whether it's any good.
I'd classify the Devilman Lady anime as a drama/horror type of show. It mainly focuses on a lot of the personal insecurities and relationships of the main heroine. It is like Cutie Honey in a way, but much darker in tone, without any comedy elements at all. The girls are very pretty and glamorous to look at, so there's nice eye-candy too, which contrasts with the more unsettling visuals. As another anon already pointed it, it does look like early 2000s hentai in a lot of scenes
If you're curious to try it, I'd say watch up to episode 3 to properly evaluate if it is something you'd be interested in
97 Manga, early 2000s series
the anime for devilman lady looks like early 2000s hentai
And that's a good thing
at least it's an improvement on the manga
Whats Devil Lady about?
3rd wave feminist
Devilman Lady knew Crybaby would come twenty years later.
There are only 10 possible names in Japan.
Devilman retold with Akira as a nymphomaniac girl except it's actually an alternate universe created by Lucifer after the events of the first Devilman
Cute girls doing cute things
yes
and the soundtrack goes hard
Adapt Shin Devilman you cowards
Those stories were really entertaining
Yes, but ping pong is still his best
what was their problem
devilman in general is shit, don't understand how people like it
Do I need to watch any other stuff in this series before seeing this?
No.
Thanks, anon.
Honestly? No.
The characters were just uninteresting and the ones who seemed to have a semblance of being interested either got no time to develop or were killed off immediately. ake Selene. She seemed like an interesting adversary, oh wait shes dead alongside the demon that was pinning for her and never had a line before the episode. Or what about that demon that appeared out of nowhere and seemed to be Devilman's equal. He's only in it for like 30 secs and he just died with no fanfare?
I think people only thought it was kino simply because the later episodes were really well directed, the music was great and the misery porn aspect was very well done. Like even though I didn't care for Mika, her brother, mother and father, I still felt absolutely devastated when they got fricking butchered.
Oh yeah the ending was fairly fricking unique too
It gets carried by the OST which is fricking great, but yeah, it's alright.
The End Times battle was fricking kino. Felt a real sense of apocalypse from it
Yes. Any adaptation of devilman is probably great, because devilman is incredible.
I liked it, but I really like Devilman. It being a complete "adaptation" of Devilman makes it good to me.
Don't get why everyone here was wanking the show off when it came out
>t.watched it a few days ago
What was wrong with it?
It insists upon itself.
I love Yuasa but I haven't gotten around to this mostly because I don't watch Netflix but also because it has a reputation for being some real edgy shit.
I keep seeing Chainsaw Man mentioned. Wasn't the one who created that also the creator of One Punch Man? How's Chainsaw Man measure up to that?
No, Chainsaw Man's creator made Fire Punch. OPM was made by the creator of Mob Psycho 100.
>Redditsaw Man
It's garbage.
yes
soundtrack was great
It was an interesting watch, great visual style + music, but I feel like if you weren't already a fan of devilman / didn't already like yuasa stuff, you'd probably just be kind of lost.
Also as an actual adaption its kinda shit.
