It was good, but it was also very by the book, formulaic. For example: the ape that gets introduced in the beginning solely so that he can get killed off and job to Proximus' apes, Noa going on a hero's journey and crossing the first threshold is shown with a completely unsubtle pitch-black tunnel, Noa learning to swear after hearing Mae do it, Noa getting the hang of the singing at the last moment. It feels like something I've seen many times before.
The scene where Noa is looking at Raka's necklace that has Caesar's symbol and he decides that "the law is wrong" is kino though.
I think the value of this movie in some ways hinges on where they go in the sequels and how well they execute those; it's definitely not supposed to be over, going by the ending.
So why did she hide the knife behind her back while the ape gave her the necklace of Caesar? I thought she liked the apes. I thought they were like her brothers
Ambivalence
She's afraid of Noa's intelligence and part of her thinks the humans can't coexist with apes. Having an emotional connection to any of them was not part of the plan.
That. or she's afraid that he could backstab her too. It's up to interpretation I guess.

Jfc you two are moronic. First it was a gun. Second she wasn't sure how Noa was going to react because she had just technically betrayed him.
She was just manipulating Noah to complete her mission. Nothing else, nothing more. She's a cold-hearted killer and would burn Noah's village down to save one human.
She hates apes and literally tried to genocide them in the movie
Good stance honestly, a lot of safe storytelling which seemed underutilised at times but things were set up really well for a potential trilogy. It was very much an introductory entry laying out the cast, world, and themes which the sequels can go into with more focus without doing as much heavy lifting. There's a lot of space to grow into something that could stand side by side with the Caesar trilogy.
I wish Hollywood would just stop. Every single Planet of the Apes movie since the first one has been pure trash. There is no need to improve this. It was perfect and ended perfectly
No one will listen to you. Rise of the Movie of the Monkey of the Planet of the Apes watchers are some of the most mentally checked out people to ever live.
Loved that the "FERAL" humans were 90% white, yet at the base in the end everyone is some sort of minority mistery meat yass queen lol, racist ass movie
It was literally 1 hour too long - so many scenes they could've cut without sacrificing anything in the storytelling. We GET that they train birds, we don't need 40 different exposition scenes of it. It was a 6/10.
Proximus was right to distrust humans but he was too merciful he should have publicly raped Mae to break her spirit

Frick u I forgot ok, and I just watched it yesterday and still I forgot

Yeah that scene is good. I remember it. The big hawk-like bird finally respected him and perched on his arm

An actual good post on Cinemaphile.
It was good, but Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a superior movie in all ways
rise is the worst of the new ones thoughbeit
No it isn’t
>Caesar screaming "NO!"
does this mean nothing to you?
Shit taste
That's War actually, because the actual war happened in Dawn, the last one is more of a prison escape
I fell sleep a few times and I can't remember anything that really stood out.
Seems to be a lot of people having this problem while watching this movie

The Caesar trilogy of films is pure kino, definitely in the pantheon of movie trilogies.
Best trilogy since LOTR

I like when Raka said “and ape shall not kill ape”
I fell asleep twice. Apeshit/10

ending was actually a really good twist
She wants that big monkey dick!
Just saw it last night. It's kino. PotA is a series that is just consistently good.
Yes, peak kino.
Rise > Kingdom > Dawn > War
...why aren't the apes wearing CLOTHING?
cause they're in California and it's too hot.

I wished they had shown more of the feral humans
it was meh
why would you make a bunker next to the coast where you have limited time to enter/exit or be flooded
also the orangatang i expected to comeback since his part was so small and killed off so quick
glad i saw it for free, someone ended up streaming it
Man the new Journy to the West movie looks good
