I refuse to watch it because I hate pop music and I'm pretty sure no torture in the world can be worse than listening to Lily Rose Depp of all people pretend to make pop music, but what I said before I came out and what I say still is that it has every hallmark of a cult classic that will be critically ~re-evaluated~ in ten to twenty years and remembered as actually a product of the golden age when HBO was taking chances and etc. So yes I totally believe it's ahead of its time, just based on what I've heard about it.

Schopenhauer and Blake come to mind as being nearly ignored in their own lifetimes, but it's common enough that I will be missing plenty of other salient examples. Fitzgerald's Gatsby was regarded as trivial when it came out, and he died relatively penniless; some decades later everyone decided it was actually the most perfect novel ever written. Similarly the Shining was panned on release and had to be re-evaluated a decade later.
