In the books westaroos fighters are pretty shit tier compared to the free cities
They're just shit nobles who have their wins handed to them
Remember everyone cucked to the targerians aside from the north
Braavosi founded bravos while under the tyranny of said dragons
Meanwhile westarosi cucked for generations and remained essentially slaves for like a millennia until literally has to be saved by mother nature itself
>W-WE DONT CARE ABOUT ESSOS ANYWAYS
Sounds like cope and seethe
Westarosi cucks would fricking shit their pants and submit all of their wives if Dothraki ever learned how to sail
It's honestly hilarious to presume that to be the case when all evidence points the opposite.
Sure, Westerosi peasant levies may be dogshit garbage, but considering they do have dudes who train to war from cradle to grave and possess a drastic technological advantage, it's wishful thinking Essos could even be considered anything except future targets for conquest.
Dothraki wear no armor. Qarth, the self-titled greatest city still uses bronze armor principally. Unsullied are eunuchs and even though with unbreakable discipline would be physically weaker than any proper warrior. Everyone else pretty much just doesn't get mentioned outside Braavosi street duelists.
But hey, GRRM says Jaime could beat Aragon or whatever.
The free cities mostly depend upon mercenaries.
The Golden Company consists of exiled Westerosi knights and is one of, maybe the, best mercenary forces in the Essos.
I never got how the Dothraki were supposed to be a credible threat. Transporting that many men and horses is a logistical absurdity. Assuming they even make it to Westeros, they need to pillage to feed their men and horses, but all the decent food stockpiles are behind walls they can't breach. Even without winter coming they would need to resort to eating their horses. They excel in fighting on the plains of the Dothraki sea, the terrain in Westeros is much rougher. They're also used to fighting unarmored opponents. But probably the most important point is why the frick would anyone support a woman bringing an army of foreign savages to Westeros? It seems like political suicide.
The implication in the books seems to be that dany thinks she's forging a glorious conquering army, but when the dothraki pop over and encounter all the problems you describe, they'll end up just being roaming barbarian hordes slaughtering ordinary peasants and doing nothing of any use to her
Combine that with eunuchs actually being shitty soldiers, and what you said about the natives not being happy to have foreign mongols unleashed upon them, and dany is unlikely to be hailed as the heroic queen she thinks she is
Although it's been forever since I read the books so I probably imagined most of that, no doubt real bookgays can correct me
Didn't the same thing happen with Jon and his northern army in the 2nd to last episode when they fought in Kings Landing? He realized that Northern men weren't that different from Southern men.
No that's literally the plot. Varys has a secret Targaryen. Remember how he laughed and said when Targaryens are born the Gods throw a coin on whether they come out completely insane or heroic? Aegon is just a normal kid learning about how to rule properly. Danny was always a batshit crazy ruler huffing her own butthole. She was always going to lose, its just nobody knew Jon's parentage and that he has a wombo combo of having the backing of the entire North, the Wildlings, the Fey and the Wall and a cassus belli against all of Westeros that gave an out for anyone who hated the Lannisters to rally against. That's why Dany goes insane. If the morons running it didnt rush the season and it played out for 3 seasons like HBO wanted they would've had the Aegon arc and Dany getting pissed nobody takes her seriously in Westeros because both twins were insane.

>Aegon is just a normal kid learning about how to rule properly
Aegon is a bastard and already gives Joffrey signals when he throws tantrums
Everyone was right to be dismissive >oh no! >the evil horde from across the sea >who hate boats >and they hate the ocean >and they hate the non-dothraki boat owners who would ferry them across the sea >and they hate each other too much to even really organize to get on the boats and come across the sea
>white woman openly and eagerly invites foreign horde to invade a continent full of whites >destroys the capital city of said continent with said foreign hordes and the use of flying plot armor >brings absolute destruction, famine, ruin and devastation to the continent of her people >millions die, Women and children included, in the most brutal ways imaginable >and she isn't just perfectly happy about it but she's fricking ecstatic to see the power of her own unchecked hubris and spite >all because she feels like she should be the center of everyone's attention forever and is mad nobody ever managed to frick her like Chad did a couple times >only person who was able to stop her was another white man who fricked her once and then never called her back
>brings absolute destruction, famine, ruin and devastation to the continent of her people
everything seemed to be going pretty good afterwards, actually. Yeah kings landing got sacked but thats war. >millions die, Women and children included, in the most brutal ways imaginable
the population of kings landing isn't even a million. >all because she feels like she should be the center of everyone's attention forever and is mad nobody ever managed to frick her like Chad did a couple times
she's the last living heir to a lineage of conquerors thousands of years old. Of course she's going to be happy about conquering. >only person who was able to stop her was another white man who fricked her once and then never called her back
he literally weeped out of despair over it
Varys/Illyrio wanted Viserys and Dany to come with a horde of barbarian rapists to look like complete savages and cause mass destruction across Westeros, eventually being defeated but weakening the realm.
Then Aegon could come over with the Golden Company, and a partnership with the Dornish and be a conquering hero who saves Westeros.
that's not even close to correct. Essosi in general are vastly inferior to Westerosi knights. There's a reason why the Golden Company (at the time 100% filled with Westerosi nobles and knights) casually sacked Qohor even though the city was defended by Unsullied.
Braavosi founded bravos while under the tyranny of said dragons
Meanwhile westarosi cucked for generations and remained essentially slaves for like a millennia until literally has to be saved by mother nature itself
They're pathetic cucks
The Bravoosi had to hide their city from the Valyrians for 2 centuries before they were discovered. By that point, the Valyrians had calmed down and only demanded compensation for the ships stolen during the escape.
>In the books westaroos fighters are pretty shit tier compared to the free cities
Essosis literally get bodied by any Westerosi knight they come across. Westerosi culture is far more martial.
He was a shit c**t who lost to basic b***hes making him a basic b***h.
From start to finish the only interesting thing he did was frick his own sister and nothing else.
He's like that gay Ichimaru Gin from Bleach that did nothing ever except stand around and talk shit then died like a b***h.
Too kino and fantastical for GOT. If this scene was written by George then Jaime would die of diarrhoea like a chump before the battle while the night king would somehow, someway have sex with a concerningly young girl described with some of the most vile prose a smelly incel like GRRM could imagine
>They should have made the sword shine so that the the blade looks like it's magical, thus highlighting the power of valyrian steel (and also making it look less like a regular sword). Huge wasted opportunity.
Yeah, he had Howland "Ungentlemanly Warfare" Reed with him. But he seemed to be doing pretty well against Jaime until that Lannister soldier interfered.
iirc from what grrm has said on this, prime jaime was a match for prime selmy, and a notch below arthur dayne
so, at the early stages of GoT, before he lost his hand, and with selmy old and arthur dead, yea, he was the best.
b***h please Aragorn has been fighting for literally 70 years on top of being a pure Numenorean with superior strength and speed compared to human. He and Gimli single-handedly stop a whole column of Uruk-Hai

Crowd control against jobbers isn’t dueling.
Jaime has been trained to kill people in single one on one duels for decades - it’s his speciality in a culture which is highly competitive.
Aragorn has been trained to hunt and harass subhumans in the wilderness and rarely fights and peers in single combat. Given his traits, Aragorn COULD be a better duelist, possibly. But given his current history and skill set, I wouldn’t say he was at present a better duelist

we're talking about the movie, ya dumb Black person. And even then in the book, Uruk-Hai (not regular Uruks of Mordor) are never described as being bad at fighting. They do manage to breach the wall and steadily drive back the Rhohirims just like in the movie. >2. Fighting in a group battle is very different from a duel
killing people left and right != crowd control. Aragorn isn't keeping the Uruks at bay. He's cutting vast swathes of them down by himself. Get that through your thick skull.

except that time he personally killed an Umbar captain during his youth. Bear in mind Umbar's people tend to have Numenorean blood, especially nobles, so Aragorn might have killed a peer opponent. That's just one example we know of from Aragorn's time as Thorongil. He later went on a journey to the east so he might have fought Easterlings there. Besides, what makes you think Jaime has any experience with personal combat either? As a knight, he's expected to charge with a lance along with other knights/retainers, not fighting people one-on-one >but knights do fight in tourney
during Trial by Combat/Trial by Seven, not during ordinary jousting tourneys. In a regular tourney, he wins as soon as he unhorses his opponent and it never involves melee combat. It's horseshit to claim that Jaime somehow has more experience in personal combat than Aragorn when his own books don't support that.

That's the thing though, Uruk-Hai aren't jobbers. Orcs are. The entire reason why Saruman is such a huge threat, even to Sauron, is because his manufactured Uruks are much, MUCH better than common Orcs and on the same level as trained Men.
Uruk-Hai are just orcs. It's their endonym. The confusion between these two is because of a throwaway line in the Jackson movies by (IIRC) Gimli. It was meant to show Gimli impressing the seriousness of the situation onto Rohan, to contrast Isengard's orc army with the disorganized "goblins" (also orcs) of the Misty Mountains. But it just created a shitload of internet theorycrafting.

Uruk-Hai are a unique species made out of the mud. They are literally a weaponized species. Orcs are debased Elves. That is true in both the movies and the books. They were always too different species and even Aragorn noticed Uruks are powerfully built. Its also why Boromir doesnt take Orcs seriously but gets fricking massacred by Uruks. Orcs are Elves minus their grace, wisdom and beauty.
Anonymous
No, orcs, Uruk-Hai, goblins are all the same species. They "multiply like flies" which to a medival person would suggest they come from nowhere like, say, a mud hole. The distinguishing feature of Isengard's Uruk-Hai is that they are disciplined and trained. "Hai" is the orcish name for "people, group" and "Uruk" is just "orc" in orcish. Their training at the hands of a enlightened master (as opposed to being used en masse by Sauron or allowed to drift aimlessly like in the Misty Mountains) gave them a sense of nationalism and so they understood themselves to be different from their cousins. A nice critique of post-Napoleanic European nationalism, by casting it as hubris. And of all the people in The Fellowship, Boromir would be the last to underestimate the Uruk-Hai because he had the most experience fighting them before joining The Fellowship.

>crazy Uruk stuff
No. Orcs are a creation of Morgoth who specifically created them as a frick you to Noldor and Illuvatar and his Elves. Orcs were made from stone like trolls and haphazardly created but reproduce on their own. They are a fully distinct species. Uruks are literal MAN-ORCs hence their name. Saruman used the same forbidden technique as Morgoth but cut the Uruks with human blood and mud and made them as functional weapons instead of a frick you joke. Uruks unlike Orcs do not have souls. Uruks cannot criticize Sauron or Sauman like Orcs and its heavily implied the Uruk leaders are Half-Orc rape babies from kidnapped Rohan women because that's the only way Saruman could get a free thinking Uruk.

Tolkien went back and forth on the origins of Orcs.

Yes but the argument is over whether Morgoth or Melkor wired them up. Uruks are living weapons and have always been that way. There wasnt any wiggle room on Uruks. That's why even the movie shows they are manufactured and fanatical like Crusaders. You cant negotiate with Uruks because they are absolutely loyal to their state. The concept of fricking over their master is beyond their comprehension unlike Orcs which live to frick everybody over so they can get ahead. The watchtower sequence has more than a few Uruks disgusted that they are being forced to guard a shithole instead of winning glory for Saruman.

All Uruks are Orcs but not all Orcs are Uruks.
The tracker-orc that converses with his Uruk-"friend" while Sam listens in is proof of this. They have distinct breeds.
It becomes readily apparent that "the dark lord cannot create" simply means that orcs, while living and thinking, have no real souls of their own, and are dependent on a lord to animate their wills. Otherwise they will scatter and live like tribal almost mindless beasts. Like proto-humans except instead of burly neanderthals, theyre like scurrying rats.

I havent even read your posts but I know youre wrong. Everyone is always wrong about orcs
The first type were the skulking rat-like creatures
The regular Uruk-warrior type came later, taller than their peers but still very squat and compact. Like a typical turk
Then the Uruk-Hai were a completely new mixed mutt breed made by Saruman himself, which were straight up bigger and stronger AND could travel in sunlight comfortably unlike all other orcs.
These are facts.
aragorn is a spacemarine wearing meter-thick plot armor who has spent his whole life fighting (and he's 80 when the books begin but still completely in his prime) so powerful that sauron actually feared what would happen if aragorn ever actually got hold of the ring
Aragorn was trained by the Last Arnorian, aka the supermen lineage. They died out because they preferred punching Gods out over conquering. Its not even close to the same. You have to read the books, Aragorn is so much of a legend Sam is in awe hes still alive and said he grew up listening to his tall tales. Hes a huge deal and it's why everyone commits to his plans without question.
Aragorn being a Demi god super space marine isn’t in the book, actually
All that’s mentioned is he is a ranger of the north who harasses jobblins and is afraid of ring wraiths

Hes of House Isildur, hes almost seven feet tall, like 80 years old without a wrinkle or grey by the time the Ring starts and the Appendices has his one man war against the Corsairs. It even states that's the reason Denethor is such an butthole, because Aragorn outshines Boromir and could replace either of them if he wanted to as is his right by both law and popularity in Gondor. Isildur himself died in combat against Sauron at 300 years old. Numenoreans are tough to kill. That Wight that the Hobbits steal the swords from was a Numenorean.

Yeah, none of that indicates that he’s somehow the Mountain
Plus his height isn’t mentioned
You’re filling in blanks with fan fiction. Aragorn was an exceptional man, but not an unstoppable super being

Omg how is that possible
He was a 8 foot tall mega jacked Ubermensch capable of taking down entire armies with one arm around his back
Aragorn is 146 by the time of LOTR and has been fighting a nonstop war for half of it. Hes not even close to a normal human. That's why Elrond's only argument is hes mortal, and Elrond would know personally because he watched his great grandfather and grandfather die. Isildur died at almost 400 years old and Gil-Galad and Elrond would crack on him that hes starting to get grey in his hair.
If dorne didn't exist either as POV or in the show the whole series would be better. Medieval Spain was overrun with Moors and didn't concern themselves with the rest of western europe. If GURM added Dorne for completionism then the Dothraki should be from there and Dany was hiding in the same continent.
Terrible choreography. >Right is mincing up like a little girl, afraid of the sword stroke. >Dude in the center is putting his back to them in order to whirl around for no reason >Left whirling around too
Why didn't they rework this sequence? It sucks
Too bad George Martin is a depressive fat frick who will never finish the books because he's too sad that he can't force people not to vote for Donald Trump.
>Meanwhile the US grows more polarized every day. Hate is rising, democracy is under threat, millions of Americans have swallowed the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. Newspeak has taken over political discourse, cancel culture is destroying lives and careers, and we have a disgraced, indicted, venomous ex-president winning primaries despite openly declaring that he will be a dictator on day one and will govern on a platform of “retribution,” when he is not busy grabbing women by the pussy. His last attempt to overthrow the government failed on January 6, but some of his more ardent supporters are now saying that “next time” they will bring more guns. There are actually folks out there wanting civil war.

In canon and around his time? Yes. The best of the best? No.
Showverse? Mayhaps but he lost almost every battle he fought against named characters so...
>"Brienne remembered her fight with Jaime Lannister in the woods. It had been all that she could do to keep his blade at bay. He was weak from his imprisonment, and chained at the wrists. No knight in the Seven Kingdoms could have stood against him at his full strength, with no chains to hamper him. Jaime had done many wicked things, but the man could fight!"
>Said by a virgin who really really REALLY wanted to frick a pretty boy
All of Jaime's praise is from bootlickers. Barristan knew at 60 he could still take two handed Jaime.
Canonically no.
Jaime is said to be a good duelist, but he never actually accomplished anything or proved his skill against anyone.
He's the most effective self-hype man in the realm for spreading the message that he's good at swordfighting despite never clashing swords with anyone in his life.
>being good at knocking men off horses with a stick makes you a good fighter
Is that why Brienne effortlessly beat Loras, who himself was considered one of the greatest fighters in the realm?
But Mr Satan is a legitimate superhuman, the guy can flash step hundreds of metres in an eye link and did win tournaments. In something like Street Fighter or its ilk he would be legitimately high tier, he just had the bad luck to be in a manga full of planet busters.
he was the best of his time, but not the greatest of all time
jaime himself admits this. any of the big dogs he served with in the kingsguard would have given him a run for his money in their primes
Why is the fat frick not finishing the books? He has had no problems ending main storylines in a terrible way so far, is it that much of a problem to wrap up the thousands of minor and irrelevant storylines?
He wrote himself into a corner with all of the dozen or so side POVs starting in Feast. That and he's too mindbroken by what's happened in the 21st century. Some other anon pointed out that after 9/11, his writing became much more pedantic and "WAR BAD" with little to no panache or glory in any of his written battles. His latest blog post also confirms that he cares more about what people think about him personally and his worldview than actually finishing his work.

so of all the religions, rh'llor is the only one that is 100% confirmed real and has actual powers, right?
faith of the seven is a bust
old gods are "real" in the sense that wargs and green dreamers exist but might just be weirdos with access to specific magics, whereas rh'llor seems to be an actual deity with real powers to confer on his followers
the old gods were greenseers who turned into weirwood trees, the same thing bloodraven is doing. every weirwood tree has a greenseer in its roots and thats where the magic comes from. i think rhllor may end up being something like that, the red priestesses probably have magical powers but they give all the credit to rhllor because they dont understand it
Insider here, worked with Gurm and read his draft for books 6 and 7. Bran triggered Robert's rebellion and warged as far back as the Duskendale affair, because Jon Snow is Azor Ahai and the Rhollor is the only real god in ASOIAF and he needed to be born of wolf (ice) and dragon (fire). Bran mindraped every single last Targaryen character. Bran is also the Night King and he's pushing for the Long Night. He's the main villain of the show and has orchestrated every single major event in the story and the reason is - he was butthurt for being crippled by Lannister. Not even joking. The war of the five kings and the war for the dawn are his revenge against the world. Gurm has no idea how to shoehorn in Dany's plotline but he said he wanted the Mad Queen route as a failsafe way in case people don't like the time traveling evil Bran plotline (Targaryens were mad anyway even without Bran's interference etc.). Jon Snow will be resurrected and win against Bolton. Stannis dies like in the show and the Pink Letter is not just a taunt. Supposedly the Tyrells and Lannsiter wage war over Tommen and the former defeat both the Sparrows and Cersei until her rescue by Aegon IV whose storyline will end in a shitshow anyway as he's killed by Daenerys (also Varys is burned here like in the books but Tyrion uses talk no jutsu to get on Dany's side and live). A lot of abandoned plotlines are just unfinished and he's expressed the view to just kill off a shitton of characters like Darkstar because he wrote too much stuff that went nowhere.
TL/DR: we get the Attack on Titan ending with Bran retroactively starting the whole story. Aegon and Cersei are the final human villains. Night King will be killed by Jonsno and Dany's plotline is still a big question mark.
100% truth. The books are such a mess, and a lot of the plotlines have been leaked in the show that Gurm is afraid of finishing 'em.
Also forgot to mention that the rumors about Bran warging as Summer to rape Meera are true and the chapter where that happens will contain a huge exposition by the Three Eyed Raven about Bran's true nature that will lead to Meera's death and Bran overpowering the Three Eyed Raven via some magic shenanigans.
what a load of shit. bran does not remember who threw him out of the window. his powers are also different in the books, he can only see what the weirwoods have seen
>in the books bloodraven is called the three eyed raven because he himself was partially blinded and only has one eye, so added to the raven, his favorite familiar for warging, it counts to three eyes >show just decides bran is now the new three eyed raven
BRAVO
Anyone else notice how any /got/ thread is now full of seething shit-flingers whereas during the actual run of the show the atmosphere was much more friendly no matter who you supported?
This. Once they started running ahead of the books and the scripts were in the hands of staff writers, the whole series became one long Hollywood movie.
I've been re-watching HotD in anticipation of the second season coming out this summer. It's actually a lot better on the second viewing, after you know a bit of the background. The allusions make a lot more sense, when on the first watch they just seemed like pointless diaglogue.
Friendly reminder that Maester Aemon and Walder Frey were born during Daeron II's reign and lived to see the Targaryens deposed and replaced by the Baratheons AND Lannisters.
Dayne was better with a sword. But in terms of purely fighting, you'd have to include Robert Baratheon in his prime. The man casually one-handed a warhammer it took Ned two hands just to get off the ground, let alone swing. A lot of people in universe describe Gregor Clegane as a mountain, but if anybody could 1v1 him in pure power it would be young Robert.
>Was Jaime really the best fighter in all the realm?
old ass Ned Stark was whooping his ass, then his guards stepped in and stabbed ned in the leg so he couldn't fight anymore
after that, maybe he was the best
That particular comparison is particularly frustrating, because Robert Jordan tried his absolute hardest to finish the books but didn't manage to live to the end, whereas George is trying his hardest to die before they're completed.
I actually think he made a Faustian bargain and received all of his success, fame and wealth on the condition that the series is never finished. One day he will grow tired of his excess, release the manuscripts for Winds and Dream and then immediately crumble to dust.
Barely? He's destroyed everyone he fought without even trying. He flew off the horse to dismantle the Titan's Bastard with a fricking wooden staff and he toyed with Khrazz (who is supposed to be the top pits fighter in Meereen) before killing him as well. Never once was he in danger or even lose to being in danger. And he's over 60 doing this. Barristan is easily as good as Arthur Dayne, and if you were to give Barristan Dawn he would be as good.
>as good as Arthur Dayne
Barristan himself says and believes otherwise, and he is in a position to know. Westerosi as a rule can't agree that the sky is blue, but none of them doubt for a heartbeat that Dayne was the most gigachad knight and warrior who ever climbed down off a horse.

Dumb and Dumber did that just to shit on the actor that played Barristan because the actor thought they should follow the books more. They did a similar thing with Kit where everyone in the final season was just sitting on him about his height in dialogue.

A cautionary tale not to let israelites touch your magnum opus for any reason, no matter how much money they give you
When was it ever stated he was the best fighter of all time? He was known as a good tourney knight, but even then I don't think they said he was unbeatable or even anything. People seemed way more scared of the Mountain, Hound, and even Ser Barristan.
I always thought of him as an elite fighter, but never the best.
Not really, he was a great fighter but not the greatest. Jamie in the book even says as much. He wished he could have dueled various people at some points.
And when he lost his hand he even said he was never going to be great again. Its generally agreed that Berristan is the current greatest fighter, but upsets in the status happen all the time.
John is not presented as a great fighter, he knows a lot of good skills but often in the heat of battle, those are forgotten. His fight with the fookin legends shows that.
In the books, how was Stannis going to do anything other than die? His army is camped in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by 8ft of snow. Winter just started, they can't fricking move outside their tents, and they have no access to food, water or warmth
I blame Melisandre, she led Stannis to his doom on the false promise of him being Azor Ahai reborn. She even went so far as to try to force the prophecy to be true but giving him that fake ass sword and filling his head with bad interpretations of visions. b***h is no good
He'll win the battle at the frozen lake and will probably take Winterfell only because of the chaos that'll go on inside it's walls but yh he's probably not surviving to the end. I'll be surprised if he doesn't die in Winds. If he is the first major stand against the Others then he'll probably die there and come back as a wight. I just don't see him coming out of the North alive. But then idk, how many of us could've predicted the events of the books ahead of time.
They are on an island in the middle of a lake. Their men have been fishing the ice non-stop, they have a tall watch fire in the middle, and they have a raiding party agitating the enemy outside the walls and quite possibly men inside the walls raising tensions to the point where Bolton is forced to tell his armies to attack.
Best guess is he’s going to look like his army is to be smashed in a pincher move but the Bolton’s allies fall through the ice.
GRRM gave d&d the spark notes version of the ending, and their final test was the figure out who Azor Ahai was going to be, mimicking when they had to figure out who Jon’s parents were to get permission to get make the series in the first place. Instead they just filmed the spark notes.
he fricked that frog up
he didnt look that great to me
Is that Money?
Eses and Woods, 500 Navy Seals. Ripper count 'em
In the books, yes. In the show Ned fights him to a standstill and Ned almost lost to Arthur Dayne so he's a solid tier below the top dog.
In the books westaroos fighters are pretty shit tier compared to the free cities
They're just shit nobles who have their wins handed to them
Remember everyone cucked to the targerians aside from the north
Because of the dragons you dumb frick.
Braavosi founded bravos while under the tyranny of said dragons
Meanwhile westarosi cucked for generations and remained essentially slaves for like a millennia until literally has to be saved by mother nature itself
They're pathetic cucks
the dornishmen fought an open war against dragons like the vietcong until aegon just said frick it its just six kingdoms
So they didn't fight an open war. Although beyond Targs Dorne does have the highest kill count of both dragons and other Targs.
No one cares about essos though.
>muh eunuchs folded 1000 times
That's cool, too bad they're on the irrelevant side of the world.
>W-WE DONT CARE ABOUT ESSOS ANYWAYS
Sounds like cope and seethe
Westarosi cucks would fricking shit their pants and submit all of their wives if Dothraki ever learned how to sail
>if Dothraki ever learned how to sail
dothraki haven't even learned how to use a toilet
Everyone was right to be dismissive
>oh no!
>the evil horde from across the sea
>who hate boats
>and they hate the ocean
>and they hate the non-dothraki boat owners who would ferry them across the sea
>and they hate each other too much to even really organize to get on the boats and come across the sea
>white woman openly and eagerly invites foreign horde to invade a continent full of whites
>destroys the capital city of said continent with said foreign hordes and the use of flying plot armor
>brings absolute destruction, famine, ruin and devastation to the continent of her people
>millions die, Women and children included, in the most brutal ways imaginable
>and she isn't just perfectly happy about it but she's fricking ecstatic to see the power of her own unchecked hubris and spite
>all because she feels like she should be the center of everyone's attention forever and is mad nobody ever managed to frick her like Chad did a couple times
>only person who was able to stop her was another white man who fricked her once and then never called her back
Western Civilization, everyone.
Sounds like Semitic inceldom nonsense.
>brings absolute destruction, famine, ruin and devastation to the continent of her people
everything seemed to be going pretty good afterwards, actually.
Of course she's going to be happy about conquering.
>only person who was able to stop her was another white man who fricked her once and then never called her back
he literally weeped out of despair over it
you sound like a raging virgin
>It seems like political suicide.
It was supposed to be.
Varys/Illyrio wanted Viserys and Dany to come with a horde of barbarian rapists to look like complete savages and cause mass destruction across Westeros, eventually being defeated but weakening the realm.
Then Aegon could come over with the Golden Company, and a partnership with the Dornish and be a conquering hero who saves Westeros.
it's funny how Illyrio absolutely fricked his own plan by gifting the dragon eggs to Danaerys.
that's not even close to correct. Essosi in general are vastly inferior to Westerosi knights. There's a reason why the Golden Company (at the time 100% filled with Westerosi nobles and knights) casually sacked Qohor even though the city was defended by Unsullied.
The Bravoosi had to hide their city from the Valyrians for 2 centuries before they were discovered. By that point, the Valyrians had calmed down and only demanded compensation for the ships stolen during the escape.
Seems like the opposite
>In the books westaroos fighters are pretty shit tier compared to the free cities
Essosis literally get bodied by any Westerosi knight they come across. Westerosi culture is far more martial.
Yes
Beautiful
>You've served as a glorified bandwith boost for two moots - one a homosexual, the other a asiatic.
Gold.
>why is he still not BTFO?
>it wouldn't have been based
this cracks me up every time
Frick these are good.
I think not, I think people like to overpraise a famous name.
no it's probably some random dude
Even in the show he says the Cleganes are better than him, wtf are you talking about.
he'll have to get his hand dirty like the rest of us
He was a shit c**t who lost to basic b***hes making him a basic b***h.
Too good for GoT
>They should have made the sword shine so that the the blade looks like it's magical, thus highlighting the power of valyrian steel (and also making it look less like a regular sword). Huge wasted opportunity.
You had the Cleganes, Old Barristan Selmy, Bronn, and others.
Jamie was a B-lister
And there was at least the implication that Ned would have taken him.
People thought Ned killed that OC donut steal 2 sword guy when he was actually stabbed in the back.
Yeah, he had Howland "Ungentlemanly Warfare" Reed with him. But he seemed to be doing pretty well against Jaime until that Lannister soldier interfered.
iirc from what grrm has said on this, prime jaime was a match for prime selmy, and a notch below arthur dayne
so, at the early stages of GoT, before he lost his hand, and with selmy old and arthur dead, yea, he was the best.
>he says jaime would win
this fat goblin is fricking moronic
Aragorn was never shown to be a particularly skilled duelist
He’s a better all around survivalist, leader, healer, and scholar
But fighter? probably not
b***h please Aragorn has been fighting for literally 70 years on top of being a pure Numenorean with superior strength and speed compared to human. He and Gimli single-handedly stop a whole column of Uruk-Hai
he's a literal 6'6 superhuman gigachad that can hack through hundreds of orcs without so much as a scratch. jaime has literally zero chance
But given his current history and skill set, I wouldn’t say he was at present a better duelist
>being good at fighting multiple people means you are bad at fighting one person
you have to be 18 to post here.
>a guy who can beat up 3 toddlers can beat Mike Tyson in a fight
>Uruk-Hai is the same as a toddler
uh huh moron
>literally born yesterday morons with no trained fighting ability
How do you not understand this?
If two snipers are going at it, who will win? The guy who is trained and experienced in sniping or the guy who just sprays a machine gun into a group of soldiers?
you are a fricking moron dude
my Black person in drag, uruk-hai manage to kill a shitload of elves during Helm's Deep. Elves, as you are aware, have eternity to hone their skill and they still die by the hundreds to Uruks. Those frickers are born already knowing how to fight.
1. Those Elves weren’t in the books, ya illiterate
2. Fighting in a group battle is very different from a duel
I’m not sure how you haven’t grasped 2.
Dueling is a unique skillset not a measure of general ability.
it's not a video game, moron. aragorn is a numenorean with 10 times the combat experience. jaime couldn't win once no matter how often they fought.
>combat experience
Not dueling a highly trained fighter
Beating up a Bunch of toddlers doesn’t make you a trained martial artist
i hope you realise jaime is the toddler in that comparison
we're talking about the movie, ya dumb Black person.
Get that through your thick skull.
>we're talking about the movie, ya dumb Black person
No we don't. We're commenting on george's statement about tolkien you absolute braindead moron.
no we are not. You only started making this a book-only discussion the moment your whole argument about Orcs got btfo by the movie.
except that time he personally killed an Umbar captain during his youth. As a knight, he's expected to charge with a lance along with other knights/retainers, not fighting people one-on-one
>but knights do fight in tourney
during Trial by Combat/Trial by Seven, not during ordinary jousting tourneys. In a regular tourney, he wins as soon as he unhorses his opponent and it never involves melee combat. It's horseshit to claim that Jaime somehow has more experience in personal combat than Aragorn when his own books don't support that.
>legolas invented skateboarding. it's in the movies.
Okay. You illiterate american or whatever flavour of brown you are continue talking about dum dum mobies. I was talking about the books since that os obviously the frame of reference for george.
>he posts in Cinemaphile
>he whines about dum dum mobies
just admits you got btfo Black person.
Aragorn’s fights against the Uruk-Hai are never described in any particular detail in the books.
Uruk-Hai are superior in both the books and movies. They regularly butcher the Orcs for giggles and grudges.
There is only one elf at helms deep and he survives you inbred.
>Cinemaphile - Television & Film
>no you have to stick to the books!
moron
Please scroll up you goldfish brain
any uruk would rip mike's arms off
Jaime has one hand and aragorn spent like 10 years killing pirates in gondor
even with both at the peak of their powers, jaime would get his shit pushed in
That's the thing though, Uruk-Hai aren't jobbers.
> A nice critique of post-Napoleanic European nationalism, by casting it as hubris.
Idk why Tolkien is a dandy of the right - he’s pretty contemptuous of all their politics
>crazy Uruk stuff
Aragorn was an exceptional man, but not an unstoppable super being
https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Aragorn#cite_note-7
Citations for all of that. Tolkien gave an exact description of Aragorn for the LOTR film. Or you could just realize his nickname was Longshanks in the Shire because he stood an entire leg higher than the men of Bree.
Please, tell me where these descriptions are in LOTR
The author himself?
The historical 'Longshanks' was only just over 6 foot.
>Isildur himself died in combat against Sauron at 300 years old
Elendil
Isildur died like a b***h from arrows after being betrayed by the ring.
I thought he was 87
No, that would be the Sand Snakes
If dorne didn't exist either as POV or in the show the whole series would be better. Medieval Spain was overrun with Moors and didn't concern themselves with the rest of western europe. If GURM added Dorne for completionism then the Dothraki should be from there and Dany was hiding in the same continent.
Terrible choreography.
>Right is mincing up like a little girl, afraid of the sword stroke.
>Dude in the center is putting his back to them in order to whirl around for no reason
>Left whirling around too
Why didn't they rework this sequence? It sucks
Every modern fight choreography sequence is full of people spinning around like moronic ballerinas, it's so goddamn tiresome.
Did George R R Martin really spell his name like that and not once think someone would pronounce it like that Spanish name Jaime?
Robert was the best fighter hands down - he just ended up defeating himself, which is the point of his story
No.
fookin' gin alley
I'm pretty sure the mountain could have beat him in a fight
Arthur Dayne with Dawn > Prime Barristan > Jaime.
Ned respectfully returning Dawn is also pretty kino
not to mention the Ashara Dayne stuff
Too bad George Martin is a depressive fat frick who will never finish the books because he's too sad that he can't force people not to vote for Donald Trump.
did he write something about Trump?
>It is hard to escape the feeling that we are living in the Weimar Republic.
>I am famous and I am wealthy and, supposedly, I have a “big platform.” Whatever that is. But I have grown more and more cynical about this supposed “power” that people keep telling me I have. Has anything I have ever written here ever changed a single mind, a single vote? I see no evidence of that. The era of rational discourse seems to have ended.
Jaime himself says Barristan Selmy was better.
why are got fans so obsessed with dbz tier power rankings? isn't the series supposed to be relatively grounded?
Same reason people talk about Musashi, György Thury, Pierre Terrail, etc.
Same reason they talk about Fedor, Bones Jones, St. Pierre, etc.
but nobody talks about soldiers like that
Snipers get that treatment.
Carlos Hathwiener, Simo Hayha, Vasily Zaitsev, etc.
that's because Jaime literally does that in the book. He has a whole mental ranking of the best fighter in Westeros.
Canonically no.
Jaime is said to be a good duelist, but he never actually accomplished anything or proved his skill against anyone.
He's the most effective self-hype man in the realm for spreading the message that he's good at swordfighting despite never clashing swords with anyone in his life.
He's like the Westeros version of Mr. Satan.
that would only be true if tien (barristan selmy) would consider mr satan the strongest human he had ever seen
Didn't he win every tournament ever where he competed?
He lost against Jorah in that one tourney right after they crushed the Greyjoy Rebellion.
>being good at knocking men off horses with a stick makes you a good fighter
Is that why Brienne effortlessly beat Loras, who himself was considered one of the greatest fighters in the realm?
not really. Even fricking Jorah Mormont jousted him to a standstill once.
>2023 was bad im glad its 2024
ive never understood this mentality in people, the numbers mean frick all to whatever is happening, like all those morons that were all 'frick 2020 its a shit year because of covid!' covid didn't magically disappear at the stroke of midnight, George's 'problems' didnt disappear at the stroke of midnight, I've never understood it, people are just fricking morons
>it's hard to escape the feeling that we're living in the Weimar Republic
George! You're not supposed to say that part out loud, you're going to spoil it for everyone!
Because the world is really sad!
he over complicated the frick out of everything. there is so much going on with every characters plot that its impossible to tie everything together
>got thousands killed and ended the Targaryen dynasty for a few months of tomboy pussy
This is why you don't think with you dick.
He did it to birth Jesus.
rhaegar was chasing prophecy trying to birth the prince who was promised
guess it sort of worked since in the books jon will 100% be the one to defeat the night's king
night king you mean
night's king refers to some lunatic night's watchman who proclaimed himself king of the wall
>some lunatic night's watchman who proclaimed himself king of the wall
Based.
By all means read about him.
https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Night's_King
The madman actually fricked a whitewalker.
it wasn't a white walker, it was most likely something like coldhands
Ya I remember, though it's been over a decade since I last read the books.
Not having a sexy babe white walker gf in the show was a major missed opportunity.
>Book
>Night King
kys
the only night king in the books is a legendary story about a lord commander of the nights watch who married a white walker or a zombie and he took over the nightfort. there is no "king other" in the books and there never will be
It was plausibly also about the Harrenhal Conspiracy and Lyanna fricking it all up. Spoilered for the links.

I wasn't going to go looking that hard to see if it was repeated there, I just put the search terms into google and that's what came up.
so of all the religions, rh'llor is the only one that is 100% confirmed real and has actual powers, right?
faith of the seven is a bust
old gods are "real" in the sense that wargs and green dreamers exist but might just be weirdos with access to specific magics, whereas rh'llor seems to be an actual deity with real powers to confer on his followers
the old gods were greenseers who turned into weirwood trees, the same thing bloodraven is doing. every weirwood tree has a greenseer in its roots and thats where the magic comes from. i think rhllor may end up being something like that, the red priestesses probably have magical powers but they give all the credit to rhllor because they dont understand it
Insider here, worked with Gurm and read his draft for books 6 and 7.
100% truth. The books are such a mess, and a lot of the plotlines have been leaked in the show that Gurm is afraid of finishing 'em.
if true then it's better no book comes at all.
Also forgot to mention that the rumors about Bran warging as Summer to rape Meera are true and the chapter where that happens will contain a huge exposition by the Three Eyed Raven about Bran's true nature that will lead to Meera's death and Bran overpowering the Three Eyed Raven via some magic shenanigans.
prove you're an actual insider. What is the significance of the skull without teeth?
what a load of shit. bran does not remember who threw him out of the window. his powers are also different in the books, he can only see what the weirwoods have seen
Phase one: denial.
write better fan fiction next time wiki moron
Phase two: anger.
nta but answer this question to prove it
Nice try. The Pink Letter being a trick is one of the very few things we know for sure, it isn't genuine.
>in the books bloodraven is called the three eyed raven because he himself was partially blinded and only has one eye, so added to the raven, his favorite familiar for warging, it counts to three eyes
>show just decides bran is now the new three eyed raven
BRAVO
Anyone else notice how any /got/ thread is now full of seething shit-flingers whereas during the actual run of the show the atmosphere was much more friendly no matter who you supported?
you clearly weren't here. /got/ threads beyond season 4 were a bunch of morons shitting on every little detail of the show
as they should. Show got moronic and deserved to be treated as such.
it got boring very fast. the show became so bad it wasn't even fun to laugh at how bad it was, it was simply awful
This. Once they started running ahead of the books and the scripts were in the hands of staff writers, the whole series became one long Hollywood movie.
generals are always comfier than outer board. That's been the case for every show.
Jaime
Briene
Selmy
Mountain
Hound
Oberyn
Belwas
Arthur Dayne
there’s like 50 greatest warriors and they all get absolutely bodied by DARKSTAR
*Teleports behind you*
its not fricking fair bros.. darkstar is of the night.. how do you defeat that?
I've been re-watching HotD in anticipation of the second season coming out this summer. It's actually a lot better on the second viewing, after you know a bit of the background. The allusions make a lot more sense, when on the first watch they just seemed like pointless diaglogue.
preston jacobs theorycrafting videos >>>>> HotD
>GRRM has announced rather than writing the books he will finish the series in cartoon format
GRRM once wrote a fanfic of Jaime Lannister and a bunch of other non-ASOIAF characters fighting a duel against Rand Al'Thor.
He has got to stop comparing himself to other authors. No wonder his panties are perpetually knotted.
The guy is just comic book guy from the Simpsons
He’s pretty unpretentious, just a fat nerd
That particular comparison is particularly frustrating, because Robert Jordan tried his absolute hardest to finish the books but didn't manage to live to the end, whereas George is trying his hardest to die before they're completed.
I actually think he made a Faustian bargain and received all of his success, fame and wealth on the condition that the series is never finished. One day he will grow tired of his excess, release the manuscripts for Winds and Dream and then immediately crumble to dust.
Barristan would have made Jaime his b***h, even at 60+ years old
Barristan is barely getting past random Essos shitters in the books
Barristan is humble.
The feats say otherwise. If you place a normal sword in the hands of both fighters, it's a literal toss-up.
this sounds so fricking stupid, gurm should write shonen instead
Martin tends to write his 'heroic' characters as basically supernatural.
Dumb and Dumber did that just to shit on the actor that played Barristan because the actor thought they should follow the books more. They did a similar thing with Kit where everyone in the final season was just sitting on him about his height in dialogue.
>Dumb and Dumber did that just to shit on the actor that played Barristan because the actor thought they should follow the books more.
Why are israelites like this? They did the same thing to Henry in The Witcher until he couldn't deal with it and left the show. They shit all over the source material of the story they get their greasy kosher hands on, someone calls them on it, then they have a meltdown
A cautionary tale not to let israelites touch your magnum opus for any reason, no matter how much money they give you
I like Barristan and his internal monologues. I just wish he wasn't stuck in some shithole and was back in Westeros.
Maybe, but know he was the best sisterfricker in all the realm.
maybe, but how good was he at doing taxes and quibbling?
Arthur, Barristan and Jaime were the top three.
Why did his hair turn brown in later seasons?
Jaimes hair just kinda foegot it was supposed to be blonde
Blonde people are evil and Jaime was under positive character development
kek just noticed, when did Jaime loot Stannis's cloak?
Ah yes, those famous colours of House Baratheon: brown and black, alongside the iconic colours of House Lannister: black and brown.
Yes.
In the books, how was Stannis going to do anything other than die? His army is camped in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by 8ft of snow. Winter just started, they can't fricking move outside their tents, and they have no access to food, water or warmth
He sent his people over to Essos to buy the Golden company and a shit ton of mercs and supplies
But they're going to all be dead in like 2 days and the homosexual of a name company doesn't operate snow ploughs and is nowhere near them
I blame Melisandre, she led Stannis to his doom on the false promise of him being Azor Ahai reborn.
WHY DID THEY RUIN HIM IN THE LAST SEASON? HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AZOR AHAI. I'LL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR THIS
HBO remembered they were HBO and therefore White people can never win
GRRM gave d&d the spark notes version of the ending, and their final test was the figure out who Azor Ahai was going to be, mimicking when they had to figure out who Jon’s parents were to get permission to get make the series in the first place. Instead they just filmed the spark notes.
