Yeah, this is arguably one of the clearest times in Destiny where Kira is absolutely justified. That being said, I will give Kira shit for constantly shooting beams at the beam deflectors, and completely forgetting that he has melee abilities.
Considering she was seconds from leveling the whole area, himself Shinn and both their ships as well and he was unable to land any disabling hits because of Destroy's massive bulk and defenses. Yeah he kind of was. Really his only flaw is that Minerva was about to fire on Destroy as well and it would have been better for Kira's side and worse for Durandal's plans if Shinn's own side could do it and Shinn didn't have a convenient enemy target to pin the blame on.

Kira doesn't have an absolute no-kill policy. If he can take someone out without killing them, he'll do it. Otherwise, he'll kill.
