That part is not explained at all to Anakin. All he sees is he walks in to the chancellor on the ground with Windu on top pointing his light saber. Anakin right then is told that the Chancellor is a Sith, but it's debatable at the time. And Anakin thinks he needs him to save Padme.

Anakin just helped kill a guy, people who do that often don't continue making rational well thought out decisions in their highly emotional state, in fact they are more likely to commit more crimes and murders.
