It was fine, season 3 (best season) put enough seeds there.
Thing is the writers forgot that their relationship was basically a lifelong friendship and I think they fumbled slightly on the romantic angle. Then again, Season 4 is a mess anyway.
All this to say Ron/Bon and Ron/Yori are superior

Ron was bullshit towards the end of the show. He got like two or three girls. Got magic kungfu powers.
He didn't really grow enough as a person for Kim's attraction to feel justified. He felt like a bozo and like things were just handed to him.
I'm not completely against him and Kim', but a little more growth and maturity on Ron's part would have made it feel more natural
