While blackface also killed him, the main reason is he's boring as shit and Looney Tunes didn't find their footing until the early 40s, so really only Porky survived this era since he fit in well with the later gang
Not how you really have Porky and then (usually a different version of) Daffy, and every other 20s/30s character is nonexistent
The main reason was that Harmen and Ising left WB in 1932, and took Bosko with them (since they owned the rights). Bosko got replaced by Buddy, who was dull as shit.
Can't they just give him some animal ears? I don't remember anything intrinsically "black" about the cartoons.
Bosko got animals ears and was reimagined as a "funny animal" in the Tiny Toons episode that features him.

blackface + boring, if he was more perennially popular they probably would have just made him a dog or something but early legal and copyright shenanigans plus his shorts falling out of favor fast made it not worth it to even go there and deal with the racism after you got past a certain year where it was considered okay (until Tiny Toons which did make him a dog or something instead) even for just bringing him back for cameos.
Looks like a Mouse character, probably don't want to advertise their characters when they could use their big IPs.
If they want a Mouse stand-in they could probably use it.
He's outclassed by every Looney Tunes character that came after him. Who needs Bosko when you have Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Tweety, Porky, Daffy Duck, and Bugs fricking Bunny?
No one but hardcore fans care about him, and they never tried to do something with him except in Tiny Toons

Whether he looks like one or not, he is supposed to be a black little boy. It's from some very common traditions coming up from Minstrel shows.

Only if one understand the history of minstrel is that one gets he is suppose to be one of those characters they guys who wore black face where dressed like. Because the manerism, the sing and dance are exactly the kind of stuff you'll found in a minstrel show.
I think for a good while they didn't own the rights of the character, a reverse Oswald situation where the creators of the character left the company and kept the rights of Bosko.
Also he is literally a black face, you could spin it a say he is a monkey but that's doesn't really help.
