Nope. All the characters in the comic were based on a roleplay chat the writer and artist were in. It's why you had the teacher who turns into the asian stereotype who speaks broken english and the jocks turned into cheerleaders, all those were other people's characters.

Made me realize I was quite fond of inanimate TF On that note, anyone got the joke bad end AU comic where Robin and Jason get turned into Anne's underwear without her realizing it? I think it used to be in the comic's archives but I can't find it now, it might've been by ICS but I can't find it after his old archive was purged
I'm pretty sure it was some of those user image uploads over on the forums. The forums got wiped and basically nobody is around anymore, so it's long gone at this point. I do recall them, but don't recall the name of the artist - it's probably who you are thinking about.

EGS is as old as Questionable Content, another Cinemaphile loves to hate.
But my god, the difference.
Shive can actually write decent characters that grow over time, though his pacing as about as bad as Jacques' on QC
Shive's art though, is just so much more improved compared to Jacques best efforts from years back, and Shive just kept improving.
Shive's managed to do the main comic, the "newspaper" alternate strip, and a lot of art. Jeffy Jacques can only bother doing 5 comics per week with frequent errors.
Shive also does big booba, and is able to keep size consistent from panel to panel, something Jeph can't bother doing at all.
I read this back in the day. I never tried researching the people behind it so I don't know how far off I am, but thinking back I get the distinct feeling the author is probably an absolutely psychotic b***h.

I feel between the two the Wotch has the better story but El Goonish Shive was more consistent and never stopped so eventually won.

Same imo, the Wotch was consistently better when it did update, but El Goonish Shive was more consistent
