One of the worst actually. Star Wars finally snapped it out of the funk, though.
The best decade for film was the 1980s and if you disagree, you're mentally handicapped, like Tarantino.

Worshipping the 80s is almost as cringe as worshipping the 70s. It screams "I just got into film last week!"

What the frick are you talking about. You put the film on, you pasively consume it as the lowbrow entertainment it is meant to be and then move on.

        The French Connection suggs.
The Exorcist is ok, yet overrated.
All the Godfathers are overrated with just II being great.
Jaws is great, I'll grant you that. Clockwork sucks but has some neat synchronicities.
Rocky is also kino, but the 80's blew that away with just the 1986 year.

Rocky can be boring, no joke, but Jaws is perfectly paced, TV cut or theatrical.

It's definitely better than what we have now even if it isn't the best (which is really just a matter of preference).

Worst actually, on average. Actually it has probably been a steady decline since then but the 70s was a quantum leap in dog shit film.

70s is the easy answer and is probably true for American movies but worldwide the '60s is unmatched and smart American directors were beginning to do interesting shit even within the studio system (e.g. Frankenheimer)

No, that would be 90s and it's not even close, don't at me.

No, you just remember all of the good films while all of the many many shitty crappy films have been forgotten by time and can't be found on DVD or streaming because nobody cares.

/film/ already solved this, the correct ranking of the decades is:
    20s > 60s > 70s > 50s > 2000s > 2010s > 90s > 80 > 10s > 40s > 30s

    Definitely for crime movies.
