Because he's bad at being a Jedi.
It was written in the script
Because he has always been a coward.
If he had just de-escalated the situation and helped Anakin kill Palpatine, the SW trilogy ends in victory right here and Luke and Leia grow up with their parents, happy, spending school months on Coruscant and summers on Naboo.
Obiwan is just a prick with a muderboner.
>If he had just de-escalated the situation and helped Anakin kill Palpatine
Bro... he killed Younglings...
Still, it was more clever to go along with Anakin and eliminate the chancellor, but Obi Wan was never known for his wits. Since Obi Wan still defeated Anakin on Mustafar, he would have been an easier target to eliminate afterwards if necessary.
>he killed Younglings...
You mean child soldiers?
I didn't put the lightsabers in their hands or make them the rank and file of an insurrectionist cult, that blood is on Yoda's soul, not mine my dude.
No, the younglings fell on his lightsaber, it's different
>spending school months on Coruscant and summers on Naboo.
Dumb frick mutt
What do you mean, without Anakin there would be no Star Trek.
There wasn't much of a point. The Jedi were already vanquished, the emperor won. He still loved Anakin, odds are he was going to die anyway getting burnt up by lava.
In the end Anakin was what undid the emperor anyway so... sounds like he intuited correctly.
Anon, he tried, and at the end of the duel Vader was already dying and Obi Wan needed to get the frick out of there before Sheev arrived
>cuts off all his limbs and leaves him on fire
pretty sure he thought he killed him.
Why didn't he kill him out of compassion then? Kenobi didn't seem like a the revenge kind of guy. He wouldn't have made Anakin suffer in that way. He's either a hypocrite when it comes to the force or he was slightly contaminated by the dark side.
He was a good friend
Lucas wanted Obi-Wan and Anakin to fight but the whole point of the prequels were to retroactively set up the OT so Anakin couldn't die.
He thought he was going to die but he couldn't deliver the killing blow. He regrets that later in life.
So what would happen if he actually killed Anakin on Mustafar?
Luke and Leia situation would likely play out the same.
Palpatine would likely get another disposable sith enforcer and his plans would continue normally.
Eventually Luke would be trained (maybe Leia too) and Palpatine would be able to turn them since Vader was the element that allowed both Luke to stay a jedi and Palpatine to be killed.
I'm ignoring the ST, obviously.
Couldn't bring himself to do it and he figured he was left for dead. It was a bad error though, you double tap and finish the job. Could have honestly saved them all a lot of trouble.
That's a fair mistake. Quadruple amputee, rest of body fully burned, lungs gone, neck broken, slowly sliding into lava... Still, should have gone with a mercy kill, he wanted the man to suffer in his last moments.
this art bothers me
didn't he lose the arms in separate movies ? how could they but cut at the exact same place ?
Cause Obi-1 is THAT good.
I love how you RLM gays just pretend to not know that he LOVED Anakin and knew from the start he couldn't kill him, regardless of what he has done. It's like if you find out your son is a rapist, you want him to get fixed, maybe even suffer, but if you were told to execute him you wouldn't, hopefully, be able to do it. That why he's on the defensive for the entire fight. He had no intention of killing him and was just buying time to think of another way out of this. Then Anakin hands it to him by arrogantly thinking he can fly over Obi Wan's reach and gets bigacated. Obi Wan assumed he was good as dead when he started burning. This is very basic yet very good story telling and you homosexuals hate it because some neck beard told you to.
They didn’t watch the movie, but the review shitting on the movie.
He would lose his moral high ground.
He remembered he left the stove on.
