The character was written to be a sperg about his position in the social hierarchy, so being demoted triggers an autism fit. That's because the writers wanted to make a "subtle" comment about white privilege and entitlement.
Pathology is the least competitive residency program to get into apparently because people don't go to med school to operate on the dead.

no it isn't, that would probably be psych, or more recently emergency medicine or family medicine. it isn't nearly as competitive as surgery thoughever. tbh I'd much rather be a pathologist than a surgeon they have a way better lifestyle.

In the U.S? You can switch, but you have to rematch yourself. It's not something that just happens to you. You sign a contract for your residency when you match.
They can kick you out of the school if they want. They can't just say you're Music Major now randomly, and you'd have to restart your internship year on top of that and rematch.

I seriously don't get why other autists are so damn uppity about "muh Representation". It's because there is a very prominent part of the autism community that really does think their autism is just a "different ability", and they really don't like when scientists look for and research ways to cure autism.
I think there should be a optional cure as i personally would very like to be normal, it's painful having to fake reactions to things and have to stop myself from talking someones ear off about a hoi4 mod i played last week, and don't forget all the low functioning people who's quality of life would skyrocket if they could function normally.
