I don't know what a watershed moment is, but as an autistic person, it becoming a meme made me feel really bad because it incorrectly portrays the archetypal person with autism as robotic and unable to control meltdowns (and transphobic for some reason) and it's a very harmful stereotype

      Anonymous

An autistic character displaying a very specific combination of traits in one piece of media doesn't immediately make it a stereotype.

      Anonymous

It becoming a meme was the best thing ever. Now instead of people pitying autists they just laugh at them, which is by far less cruel. Who wants to be pitied except a homosexual?

Also only troons think "transphobes" are autistic.

        Anonymous

No, trans people have a ton of empathy and many of them also have autism themselves so they as a group usually aren't the ones thinking that, it's the normalgays who made 'autist' the new 'moronic' who just get fed negative opinions and absorb them

There is no right wing pipeline anymore, they wiped that shit off the face of the internet, Cinemaphile is the last place you can say no-no words without any fear of reprisal or bans. Increasingly trannies are becoming an acceptable pressure release valve for right leaning people, they get a pass for doing anti-troony posting to prevent them from going further down the pipeline to full-on WN and anti-semitism. They get to consume their Matt Walsh content and shoot fish in a barrel with ywnbaw arguments on what is essentially not a real political issue that was entirely manufactured.

Lmao have a nice day troony, I’m left leaning as frick. I’m just tired of you pieces of shit existing at this point. All you do is whine about being the victims of some imaginary “trans genocide” because your victim complex won’t allow you to not be persecuted. Did you know, according to the UN definition of genocide, it’s quite literally impossible for trans people to be the victims of genocide? Your need to play make believe in your persecution complex minimizes the actual victims of genocide like my family that died in the holocaust.

                Anonymous

I'm not a troony and I'm not a leftist. You misunderstand my argument. Trannies are like 1% of the population, maybe less, yet they're propped up by the media as a political issue. It started out as trying to create a consensus reality for npc normies and lefties. At first there was an organic backlash against it. What I am saying is that this backlash is no longer organic, it is now a hamster wheel they keep the right in because politically it goes nowhere. Trannies are just a symptom, the cause is israelites, and with the cultural revolution that has happened in the past eight years, people have come dangerously close to figuring that out. They need a pressure release valve to keep people on board with the dialectic and not pogroming them as they should, and what better way is there than to keep them fighting the consensus reality they manufactured.

May as well just tell me I'm not allowed to be angry, and I'm not allowed to express my anger, even when other people being unreasonable is clearly the problem.
I've known all kinds of people who flip out for the stupidest of reasons, but apparently they're entitled to their emotional expression, and I'm not. When I was a kid, I remember a teacher screaming at me for like ten minutes because I made a joke he didn't like, while trying to be friendly, but that's not a "tantrum" apparently, because he was a real person, and I'm not.

i have no idea what watershed moment is, but based on context clues i can guess
watersheds are where all water goes. like at a certain geographic point, all water that appears in a certain area eventually flows down to a lake that feeds a river that leads to an ocean. iirc theres a certain point that divides east coast and west coast watersheds in america that was somewhere near where i lived
watershed moment probably refers to your opinion after seeing something. you could be on one side, but then once you see something youre opinion changes to the other side. in this case, watching that guy have a tism fit changed peoples perspective of autism

Because he's autistic and autists don't lie. It's the same reason why he correctly identified the troony as a boy.

        Anonymous

The Asian guy is Chief of Surgery and the main character is a resident. I only watched a few episodes.

he's "his boss" in the same way that The President is "the boss" of a random Marine or something, realistically a Resident is never going to interact much with the Chief of Surgery, nor can the Chief of Surgery just transfer someone to a completely different specialty outside of the Residency they matched into at the hospital. It would be like a police chief just randomly deciding that one of his cops is going to be a paramedic.

the entire situation makes no sense.

The character was written to be a sperg about his position in the social hierarchy, so being demoted triggers an autism fit. That's because the writers wanted to make a "subtle" comment about white privilege and entitlement.

being a pathologist isn't even a demotion though, they're both doctors in completely in different specialties. it's like saying a cop being turned into a fireman is being demoted.

A med school grad can go into any medical field, it's the residency that makes them specialized. He could absolutely be moved to another residency program. And like I said

Pathology is the least competitive residency program to get into apparently because people don't go to med school to operate on the dead.

here pathology is basically what's left for everyone who didn't get into the best programs.

Getting into med school is one of the hardest things a student can do but even after they're still being sorted into winners and losers.

            Anonymous

I'm in medical school right now. Pathology isn't the most competitive residency but it's not absolute bottom of the barrel either. You can't just be moved to another residency program randomly against your will.

You can apply for a new one, but you'd have to match again and restart as an intern. It would be like switching your job to a degree. Being forced into pathology when you're already in residency makes about as much sense as being halfway through a Biology degree and then the school Dean just decides you're a music major now.

no it isn't, that would probably be psych, or more recently emergency medicine or family medicine. it isn't nearly as competitive as surgery thoughever. tbh I'd much rather be a pathologist than a surgeon they have a way better lifestyle.

            >Psychiatry is very competitive.
No it's not. It's a bit more competitive than Path, but hardly a "competitive specialty" like Surgery or Derm is.
            >My father is a surgeon and my sister is an OB/GYN, I've heard the process.
In the U.S? You can switch, but you have to rematch yourself. It's not something that just happens to you. You sign a contract for your residency when you match.

The dean can force you out of biology.

They can kick you out of the school if they want. They can't just say you're Music Major now randomly, and you'd have to restart your internship year on top of that and rematch.

Honestly I feel bad for this guy. I hope he at least got paid out the ass for breaking bad because it was obvious he was never going to get more work

I seriously don't get why other autists are so damn uppity about "muh Representation". An autist being weird in a movie isn't going to make himmler rise from his grave and start euthanizing autistic kids, i personally take more offense at stuff like dhar mann's "aUtIsM iS A DifFEReNt aBiLiTY" As i feel treating a disability as a superpower is extremely harmful.

It's because there is a very prominent part of the autism community that really does think their autism is just a "different ability", and they really don't like when scientists look for and research ways to cure autism.

I think there should be a optional cure as i personally would very like to be normal, it's painful having to fake reactions to things and have to stop myself from talking someones ear off about a hoi4 mod i played last week, and don't forget all the low functioning people who's quality of life would skyrocket if they could function normally.

I honestly don't really want autism representation in the media at all. I don't want some token character written by people who perceive me as some kind of charity case to "represent" me. It's fine, really. Just stop doing it. You're embarrassing everyone.

Hire talented autistic creatives, and just let them do stuff, without impeding them with your stupid normie suggestions, if you want to do good. I mean, that's how you get the whole tech industry, and genres like science fiction and fantasy, back when they were worth a shit.
They wont though, because they need to own it. They can't relinquish that power over us.

Even that is going too far for me. If I knew someone was hired because they were autistic I would feel an aversion to them. David Byrne got a record deal not because he was autistic but because he made interesting music. Anthony Hopkins got roles because of his dedication.
