meh, it's ok. it's not amazing or anything. and if you're holding it up to the anime, you'll be disappointed i think. but for some reason, i still like it...give it a watch
They took out everything that was unique and interesting in the manga/anime and just made "Robocop but a girl" and turned Section 9 into bumbling imbeciles.
A complete butchering of the franchise with decent SFX.
it was Great at being an example why anime should never be adapted to live action for western audiences. so yes. it was good.
that sci-fi cyborg korean movie from way back in 2006 or whatever was better than this garbage.
There's nothing in Ghost in the Shell that is unsuitable for live action, they simply abandoned the plot of the manga/anime entirely and made their own thing, and tacked GitS names across it.
>We never needed your consent
Literally vax propaganda. The writers definitely watched the 1995 masterpiece and totally misunderstood and misappropriated it.
Wasn't the point was she kept consenting to updates and somebody installed malware in her? Seems like it could be a sneaky anti vax message but the whole movie has a very confused story.
I can't believe I still haven't watched this. It might be shit by comparison to the '95 flick, but the trailer makes it seem like it exceeds my expectations for any live action anime adaptation.
How is it a bad opinion, GitS has the same flaw as a lot of older anime that try way too hard to sounds philosophical and smart when the concepts they are trying to explain are midwit core. Modern science fiction like S;G don't fall into the pretentiousness trap and are better shows for it.
They just mismashed all the cool scenes and aesthetics from the anime without a good coherent story. It was shit compared to the anime but visuals were first rate. However the cool visuals made it suck even more because how dumb the story because it had a potential to be a great movie.
The only good anime hwood adaption remains Alita which isn't that great compared to the manga.
I thought this movie was neon Genesis evangelion so I started the anime to watch it before I watched the movie because I was curious to see if this live action was the exception.
Im like halfway through now and it's kino, I never thought i would like mechshit.
Anyways thanks for listening bros thats all I had to say.
Have you seen the GITS anime or manga? If you haven't you'd probably enjoy the movie more since the Johansen version is faithful to the look but almost the opposite of the siurce material.
I've seen the anime a few times it seemed pretty cool. I remember a court episode and one where they're trying to assassinate some android guy.
I plan on giving it a watch through eventually.
I haven't seen the movie yet I'm talking about the anime. I thought this movie was nga and I wanted to watch the anime first is what I was saying because I heard it was one of the only good live action movies, but I was wrong.
I remember a lot of anons praising it when it came out.
They did a le heckin racism so it can't be good by rule

Do you really think that if it were good it would have one of the top slop actors around?
It's a cashgrab production on a known IP.
The props were great.
The rest of it was god-awful. Especially Batou.
Also the creators confirmed that Motoko's shell was Caucasian because the mangaka had a massive white-woman fetish.
beat as aramaki was based
Dude is apparently so based in Nippon they just let him do his lines in Japanese. I only know him from MXC and Battle Royal.
the original is highly overrated

The original Ghost in the Shell is just as shit, some of the worst and most indulgent psued science fiction in anime.
Idkiiaawtf (I don't know if i actually agree with that senpai) itiwapgm (I thought it was a pretty good movie).
just my opinion
It's a bad opinion but I appreciate your courage in posting it.

What's S;G? Steins Gate? If so, should i get that for my PS3?
Ideally you should read the visual novel but the anime is also excellent.
This is very true. The story and theme of Steins;gate just fits perfectly with the medium of visual novel
dunno if the PS3 version is translated or not, just get the Steam version through nyaa
It's a transhumanist love story you utter freak
Visuals are great
Story is shit
Just watch the fight scenes on youtube and save your time
It was meh. This was one time I would agree with the modern whining about cultural appropriation. Should have had a different lead.
No, but I still like it.
It was unironically hilariously racist
Michael Pitt was kino

who cares? the 95 movie is a masterpiece. there's literally no reason for this version to exist. what is it possibly going to add?

That's nice. A lot of work was put into making the movie look cool, I'm glad somebody enjoyed it.
