I'd say its about equal to The Terror in terms of quality. It doesn't have the moronic manbear and it has an amazing performance from Farrell, but The Terror has Caesar, Brutus, Crozier, and of course based Hickey.
Ok, i think the appeal is in the historical accuracy (the speech, the navy, the clothing etc), great dialogue and a pretty nice paced first half of the season.
Its not an action movie with pirates and sword fights
they fricked it up with the man bear pig. should've of went with a more incorporeal monster, barely visible shadows, a silhouette that is hidden in the background during a snowstorm, etc.
it should be a near unseen but still omnipresent influence that kills the men and fricks up their shit throughout the show, leaving you guessing whether the thing is actually real or if they're all imagining shit because they're slowly driven to insanity from the lead poisoning, the cold and them being isolated and hopelessly unable to escape.
apparently the monster in the book was way better, but they managed to frick it up in the show
They should have not gotten a good look at it and intentionally made every appearance slightly different so you can't even sit down and calculate the true appearance.
Boring and cringe aren't actual criticisms. Why are people responding to this idiot. It's bad enough he brings ul the terror for no reason, same setting wow they must be related!

They should have just left out any monster bullshit. The real life situation was harrowing enough.
It was a regular polar bear, they were hallucinating from the lead poisoning
Every time I try to watch this I don't get past the first episode and I don't even remember why. I do remember it being extremely shit right from the start
>opens with a cringe sex scene (cringe) >everything is muted brown and way too dark (snore) >MC is a fat, greasy lowlife (yikes) >fricking HULL
better than the terror for sure
this

it's like if mr hickey was a top
Why do you think the terror was bad?
Boring and the cringe supernatural aspects killed it for me

Are you talking about the terror or the north water?
The terror was great for these reasons regardless of your opinion on the Tunbaq

>leave out the monster
It was based on the book, and the book had a monster you moronic Black person.
Yes...I know...and the book should have left out the bear as well. Jfc you are so fricking stupid it's unreal.
They should have not gotten a good look at it and intentionally made every appearance slightly different so you can't even sit down and calculate the true appearance.
this is how it supposedly should look like in the book, a demon disguised as a polar bear, not some live action man bear pig

it's onions terror, trying extra hard to offset all the woke tick boxing with random gore and drone shots.
I heard it has gayshit
its more the big bad guy rapes the moronic cabin boy off screen
He wasn’t moronic, he’d just been raped so much he can barely think anymore.
fricked him silly
it has shoehorned gay activism throughout, at one point he even wishes he could wear a pride flag badge for dick sucking.
History is gay, get over it
its pretty good
kino setting
strange back story that wasn't really utilized much
great antagonist
I liked both, the characters are engaging in the terror, but I agree the bear was dumb.
Collin Farrell is great in it. He kinda carries
terrible ending, other than that pure arctic kino

>Doctor Sumner
>I'm MI6
it was meh, the terror looked like shit for the outdoors shots but at least it was a better story and characters
Falls away in the last three episodes, gets back into it in the last one
Yes it's very good but it feels rushed, this and True Detective S2 convinced me Collins is a good actor with range
Watching it right now as a matter of fact,it's more kino than I remember it
How you gonna explain frickin a man? Even if you squashed the beef I ain't shaking your hand.
Show NO love to homosexual thugs.
"We're not so different, you and I."
It was too long. Could have shaved off two hours' worth of material and you'd be left with total kino.
first episode was spooky without anything actually happening
