All protagonists are good though imo. Some shit on Paul and Ani but I enjoy both also.
Ray is locked in kino if only for how he handles his sons bully. Paul and Ani I think were actually the two more interesting characters but having 4 leads affected them most development wise. Frank.....Vince Vaughn just really wanted to be mobster Rust Cohle.

the buildup was really good but the 2nd half was a bit of a cluster and corny
the combat in general fell flat for me
Yeah I can understand that. The part where rust knocks out some homie by punching him in the shoulder after he gets hit with a baseball bat always looked goofy to me. I think everything before they leave the stash house is fine though.
That biker plan was insane, no way were they getting out
I appreciated it because it showed how deep they were in it at that point, Rust just throwing himself into suicidal situation after suicidal situation and even straightedge Marty doing tons of stuff that could cost him his career if it ever came to light. Showed how much they wanted it so Marty wigging out and executing Ledoux doesn't even come out of the blue because they've been sticking their necks out for weeks at that point.
Marty killing Ledoux was a cringey moralgay moment.

Re-watched S2 and S3 after the absolute dogshit of Night Country (aka S4). I thought they were so bad because i compared them to S1 back then i watched for the first time, so i gave them a second chance.
They're still very bad even if not on S4 utter garbage level.
