like the mob. if you don't know that the jacket is a symbol for the mob and the mob is a symbol for america in the show you're a moronic redditor.
what am I saying this is bait. why am I even replying. I just want someone to talk to in earnest.
NOT A LARP
We are ITALIAN KINGS and QUEENS from THE OLD COUNTRY
We have CULTURE and aren't just clowns that would get spat on in Italy. Look I have COLUMNS and BUSTS in my McMansion just like they would in Napoli!
>Season 2: guy dates Janice to get into Tony's good books, gets manipulated into confrontation >Season 4: guy dates Janice to get into Tony's good books, gets manipulated into confrontation >Season 5: guy dates Janice to get into Tony's good books, gets manipulated into confrontation
David Chase was a fricking hack.
that isn't what happens in s4 though. Tony creates the confrontation over the horse which is stark contrast to s1 and 2. Speaking of which, why wouldn't you bring up s1. >livia manipulates junior into confrontation with Tony
that's not really what happens in s5 either. Carmella is the final boss of s5 and Tony loses big time.
I watched a bunch of shit and I just cant understand why I love the show so much, Im slowly going towards the end and I will feel the void like never before
it's funny, it's dramatic, it's expansive, the characters feel very natural also everything is very specific making the world feel real.
characters are never just sitting or even watching something generic. They are always doing something specific and in character. Same thing with offhand comments >scene in a doctors office >tony is playing with the heart model
he could've just been sitting. Or reading the chart on the wall or the scene could start with junior in the room but no. Tony is childish, he plays with the heart model. >1st episode Tony is reading the bird book >is still reading it later in the car >"pinched for hijacking a truckload of betamax tapes"
they could've just said a truck, or hell just "pinched" but by making it betamax tapes it emphasizes the time that has passed.
It’s full of references to a huge variety of things too; Greek tragedies/classical antiquity, politics, psychoanalysis, modernist/post-modernist schools of thought.
For me it's the ups and downs. It's like someone crashing a plane in slowmotion, whenever he makes a right decision then we go up to safety but somehow that person is human enough to also make realistic bad decisions.
Going back to Janice for example, first watch I absolutely hated her then came to realise she is one of the best characters because I would hate her cause she is basically my sister. Her flaws are only human and well written and I am watching that shit not thinking of her like some character in a play but as an actual person and if she were real I would've hated her guts. This is it with just about all characters, they all move around one another and make mistakes. Even at the very end you keep thinking of how Paulie's life for example ends up being, he's the last one remaining and you realise he never really had any friends and will be alone all his life looking over his shoulder. Paulie can get me depressed for weeks at the end of it all.
I have shit attention span as I age. Like I just dont give a shit to try get in to new shows but Sopranos, a show where really not much happens, for some reason keeps me interested even on multiple rewatches. I've probably watched it 6 times over and still put on an episode before bed. It's like a beautiful slice of life of the late 90s early 2000s in a mob setting. Kino
He's right tho
Much of the bullshit ends up being inconsequential to the "plot" and things just sorta happen on the whim of the characters, up until the final 2 seasons when they had to wrap shit up
I finished S6 yesterday. A lot of the episodes, not much happens but Idk, it is just such a comfy show and made me laugh a lot. Tony reminded me of my Dad a lot and me of AJ so it all felt a little personal to me by the end of it. Idk wtf I will watch now...
>Listen, Richie, you know I love you. But here's the god-awful truth. I hate the fricking jacket. This has nothing to do with you or how I don't appreciate your very kind gesture, it's just for me, stylistically, I just don't like. Nothing wrong with it if you like I how it looks. And I'm not going to wear something if I don't like how it looks. I didn't know how to tell you this without hurting your feelings and for that I am truly sorry that it did, but it's not for the reasons you assume.
There's zero reasoning with someone like Richie. It was a case of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It was always going to end in bloodshed.
Some variation of this might have worked, but this show is about a battle of egos and that's part of why it's great. Also, the jacket was a tacky '70s relic. Looked like something out of a thrift store.
Dimwits who come home from prison are all like this. Trapped in the past, oblivious that people have longggggg moved on from shit that happened 20 years ago. I don’t think the writer was trying to make Ritchie seem tough — more like make it clear Ritchie was suffering from arrested development after being in prison for so long
The more time goes by, the clearer it becomes that Chase just got carried by a 10/10 cast lead by the most compelling character to ever star in a tv show.
He got carried by an emmy worthy cast and a literal ivy league graduate writing team. There's a reason why Matthew Weiner went off to create one of the greatest tv shows of all time after the Sopranos.
zoomers dont have any idea what you're talking about
what were some of the other p2ps like limewire there were 2 others i used to use cant remember the names
Had to look it up, it was a season five episode so '04 actually. That summer series the Bombers went 2-1 against San Diego so Finn's boys could've won.
because richie was annoying as frick
he did take it under duress
Im at season5
Forgot how lean tony was early on
Jacket looked like shit and richie is a piece of shit
>richie is a piece of shit
why
It was a power move. He was saying to tony "hey remember when i smashed some tough guy"
It was an idle threat even if it was just a subconscious one
it reminded hi of how the mob (america) was faded glory
no it was outdated and ugly, just like Richie
like the mob. if you don't know that the jacket is a symbol for the mob and the mob is a symbol for america in the show you're a moronic redditor.
what am I saying this is bait. why am I even replying. I just want someone to talk to in earnest.
I'll talk to you about the Sopranos anon, what's your favorite episode? Probably because I'm a pleb mine is Pine Barrens.
I am pretty sure faded glory doesn't make leather jackets
I don’t remember most of the stuff with Richie tbh.
he's a remake of junior from s1
Seems a bit big for him.
because manlets arent people
Did you even watch the show? He did take the jacket. Then he gave it away.
Why do American dagos call manicotti "manigot"?
Southern Italians pronounce 'c' as 'g', just a regional dialect thing that followed them and developed.
so basically just an extreme larp
NOT A LARP

David Chase was a fricking hack.
i don't remember them dating janice to get in to tony's good books, if anything it was the opposite, they dated her to undermine him
Well it was a sure way to climb up the family ladder.
It was just such a hacky way to create drama.
I fricking hate Janice so much.
This basically should start playing the very second Janice takes romantic interest in another character:
she's a great character who gives a great performance.
>I fricking hate Janice so much
This but every character in the show except Junior and Caitlin.
>Caitlin
boom! boom!
This is peak female form.
TUMMA
ITS NOT A TOOOMAAH
>2022
>People STILL getting filtered hard by Janice
I thought they dated her because they were literally lowlife workshy wops with delusions of grandeur and no better options
that isn't what happens in s4 though. Tony creates the confrontation over the horse which is stark contrast to s1 and 2. Speaking of which, why wouldn't you bring up s1.

basically it's kino.
It’s only funny if you enjoy watching Italian Americans. Otherwise it’s just boring.

No it's just a great show

Come back when youre 18, underaged-anon

kek I love the low-key humor

"The Jacket"
>Listen, Richie, you know I love you. But here's the god-awful truth. I hate the fricking jacket. Boom. Conflict solved.
Richie Aprile would literally shut off and not listen past that first sentence no matter how charismatic or reasonable you try to be
if a mob boss talked like this to his underlings he would be deemed weak
Or
>just hang it in the fricking closet and leave it there
Tony's ego would never allow him to say something like that, much less to another ego-driven prick like Richie
Also, I like that Junior chimes in with "he later died of Alzheimer's" implying the guy Richie beat up might have already been past his prime.
You assume richie is being sincere
He isn't, he's trying to make Tony do something he knows he doesn't want to do to humilate him and to undermine him in the eyes of his peers
You overestimate Richie

His shirt is nice. Does anyone know what brand it is?

That doesn't look like any legal streaming video player I've ever seen. Where'd you get that screenshot from anon?
limewire
zoomers dont have any idea what you're talking about
what were some of the other p2ps like limewire there were 2 others i used to use cant remember the names
you ever heard of these things called torrents?
There's literally nothing wrong with regifting
yes there is
nah
why didnt he just take the ticket?
>set in 2006
Yanks probably crushed the Padres.

where are the jedi
Post it
because potential of being raped/murdered/both after the game or in the toilets
i think the sopranos is the greatest show ever but i actually understand why someone would find it simply boring
I can't imagine how anyone but a adhd zoomie could find it boring. Its hilarious or thrilling or relatable the whole time
Still enjoying the jacket?
so who the frick was Finook?
It's Finn Ouk, a famous mafia snitch. His name became denominative.
>Finn exposes the Finook
Bravo Chase
