I like the dark humor in it. I think it was different and unique and it stands out by itself as a black humorous survival horror film. You have the aborted clone scene, the underwater chase with the xenomorphs, the birth of the Newborn even Sigourney hitting that behind the back basketball shot without the help of CGI or special effects. I think setting the movie 200 years ahead of the other films and getting out of space and moving towards Earth gives Resurrection a focus to the film and sense of urgency to it that maybe the other Aliens didn't have. I would have liked to see the story continue and see what happened to the Ripley 8 character along with Call, Johner and Vriess. I think Sigourney had many more films in her and its a shame 20th Century Fox nor Ridley ever got her involved in the later films.
Earth was decimated by the end of Resurrection. It begs the question, was there a war with the Aliens, did humans just abandon Earth? What happened exactly? By this time Weyland-Yutani was bought out by Walmart.
Alien Resurrection has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I always hear a lot of people talking shit about it. I personally enjoyed it more than 3 and thought the concepts in it were far more original and interesting compared to Alien 3.

I love to marathon the first half, it’s full of fun and entertaining scenes and ideas. It gets bogged down in the second half, especially the never ending water escape scene. Fortunately just as one is losing interest the alien hybrid gets its internal organs sucked out into space!!

I didn't like that the alien hybrid was making fun of people with down syndrome, watching it in 2024 just seems like they are making a mockery of people with genetic facial displasia like Ice Spice.
