Can’t wait to laugh at you all when Part 3 is girlboss Zendaya rising up against Paul, has absolutely nothing to do with the second and third books, and ends the series because he’s too smoothbrained to understand God-Emperor.

            > ends the series because he’s too smoothbrained to understand God-Emperor.
It's not about him not understanding God-Emporer, it's that Messiah basically end's Paul's story and motivations that we're set up through Dune.
He's making a trilogy on Paul, his revenge and his Jihad.

No, he stated in an interview he doesn’t like God-Emperor. Not liking God-Emperor means you fundamentally don’t like or understand the entire series as a whole. Denis has a smooth, smooth brutalist concrete pebble for a brain.

But Snyder also takes jobs where he writes the movie like this garbage, Sucker Punch and Army of the Dead. All his worst movies.

The only decent thing he kinda wrote was Army of Thieves.

      Anonymous

Zack makes kick ass visuals. The problem is that his stories suck ass and his idea of depth is making references to other stuff and having his characters angst.

The core of the issue is that they are hiring him to make artsy shit when they should be hiring him to remake/adapt stuff. In particular stuff that has lots of violence/sex and wouldn't be too bad with some random Jesus parallels.

He should be adapting the Preacher comic or Stephen King's The Stand. Maybe remaking another Dracula or Frankenstein. Not trying to "launch the new Star Wars".

He only started doing the cinematography for his own movies with Army of the Dead. Every movie since has looked like muddy blurry garbage.

          Anonymous

Army of the Dead still had a decent intro, and I think the blurriness in some of the zombie action scenes kinda made sense. And Army of Thieves looked good in general.

I do think Rebel Moon looks like blurry garbage, though. Not sure why he went with that look.

But if it is indeed his taste/incompetence at handling digital cameras, probably keep him in the editor/director's room not handling the camera/cameramen himself.

Both the blond boy and the white farmer try to sacrifice themselves to rescue the female characters during a key moment where they are about to die.

There's no other reading other than the blond boy and the assassin lady relationship being romantic.
It could have been a motherly thing if there were more children in the mist, which she interacts with, showing that she cares for children and not just a child. But there isn't. It's just her and the blond boy.

it could be a metaphor for turning herself into someone that can only hurt and not hold a child in her arms anymore.
the fact is, Sneeder's use of metaphors and symbolism is clunky as frick because he's a bit of a simpleton who thinks he's very smart and deep.

But she could've just worn gloves/gauntlets like the Imperium's soldier do, she didn't need to cut off her own fricking arms.

      This was explicitly explained? What?
The arms carried the rage and emotion of her ancestors along with their bloodlust. They basically made her a supersoldier.
If she had just worn some gloves then she wouldn't have been any better as a fighter.

they could have had her kill at least 20 of them, shown her bleeding and bruised on top of a pile of corpses, then the big dick kriptofricker captain enters the stage, she gets almost killed, the kid distracts the guy like in the movie and she kills him and then dies, like in the movie.

The list is enormous but can basically be boiled down to Zack Snyder indulging every stupid whim he has and no one stopping him along the way. The hideous "everything except a small circle in the center of the shot is out of focus" is a great place to start on a technical level. Narratively look no further than the base stakes of these two movies - a Star Destroyer is fighting a bunch of peasants in a village with three buildings over a fricking grain harvest despite them being a Star Destroyer and being capable of deploying hundreds of troops, a dozen tanks, a dozen starships, etc. And when they learn that every single major enemy of the Empire is in this three building village, they don't just nuke it from orbit. The story doesn't work for many reasons, but the stakes are one of the most glaring issues.

I don't want to keep writing but another glaring problem is both films also have the same sequences. For example, both have a scene of the Main Character looking at the camera to tell us her backstory while she's laying down to sleep with Han Duo. Another is having all the side characters telling everyone their backstory one after another while in the first movie, it was each of them being recruited one after another. It's just so fricking lazy.

Also the stupid voice over at the start doesn't set the opening scene, it recaps the previous movie. Not even Star Wars was this moronic. The dude can't even get the introductory information conveyed correctly.

Nothing in Villeneuve’s Dune series is as good as Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, which revives mythic understanding of both mankind’s history and fate. Rebel Moon shares the pop-culture wit of David Lynch’s 1984 Dune adaptation, but instead of surrealism, Snyder brought kinetic, erotic excitement that elevated the sci-fi genre. Its imagery is daring, immediate, and reverberant, Dune: Part 2 is the anti–Rebel Moon. Moviegoers who settle for Villeneuve’s monotonous formula surrender to film culture’s decline.

Magnificent Seven and it's various sequels and the remake from a few years back, A Bug's Life, Three Amigos, Wild Hogs, Battle Beyond the Stars... Hell Star Wars did it three times.

I don't think Snyder is a total hack, but he's definitely let his success and fanbase go to his head and it's caused him to become a weaker filmmaker as a result.
