Moving away from the homosexualy low effort baitpost what do you anons think the Signifigance of this shot means?
The subtitles seem to be alluding to something despite the show suposedly only having five kaiju going against Gamera
What could this mean?
The possibilities >Secret 6th Kaiju >Zanon >Something blows the frick up so hard it's visible from the moon >The moon gets blown up >Gamera or the other monsters come from space
if its Zanon i feel they would have to make him look less like a star destroyer because of the pedo mouse company

>Zanon comes down as an absolutely fricking massive metal cone. Like, size of a fricking Cumulonimbus >Gamera goes into full-on J-shootemup with it's defenses >Unfolds into an even bigger robot >Leads into a fight with Gamera that ends with Gamera pile-driving him through every planet in the solar system straight into the sun. Which Gamera survives, gotta have that S2 bait
Think Shin Zetton but it walk/melee fights because that's the only way to finish this off with a bang. Or it's just a Viras 2-parter where Gamera dies and humanity has to beat Viras.
Sorry, I misread and there’s been so many instances of people denying Kaiju being /m/ in the past I just assumed it was that, and how Moot would ban those guys himself or something, I gotta dig in the archives for the screenshot comp but it’s there, those guys were also denying tokusatsu in general being /m/
ok maybe i was a little too harsh initially and you are genuine.
I think we are getting our Anons mixed up
That guy who i was telling kaiju is allowed on the board is the Kaijurager a low effort baitposter who typically tries to totally derail them by gaslighting others and claims everyone is Gamerautist despite Gamerautist clearly stating multiple Times he hates rebirth
My best advice is to just hide ignore and report if possible.
Gonna say it, I feel Toho should stick to the experimental more thematic stuff while letting Legendary handle the monster bash because it's clearly what both are the best at
People will lose interest in Toho side of things of they themselves won't show any interest in the monsters. Both anime they ordered didn't leave much of an impression. These guys should be characters >Anguirus, a Monster Island denizen, a loyal, plucky friend who jumps face first into danger
memorable >Anguirus, a buffalo on a safari and cannon fodder
not memorable
>People will lose interest in Toho side of things
This will never be true when you morons started banging your heads against the wall and clapping when the new movie was announced.
It's primarily because Honda wasn't really interested in the monsters as characters and was more interested in what they represented. Godzilla as a unnatural force, alien from all known animals, is what he preferred to do.
And truth be told it's probably the most interesting interpretation of him. We constantly wonder why he does what he does but there's no reason other than he just IS
I'm always grateful to Tanaka and Tsuburaya for seeing beyond that and creating characters. This is why were still here talking about it. If not serving its function as pure metaphor this is what makes people interested, this is why people reacted positively to the Gamera trailer. Instead if the show doesn't care about the monsters then they might as well stop giving them names.
Each version can have a different take but the typical image that people have of Anguirus probably won't be superseded by "that random strange animal that's there to be hunted down". Some years ago Toho vetoed the idea of using Anguirus's corpse in Tokyo S.O.S. thinking fans would be upset. And in Final Wars they had Godzilla spare him, Rodan and King Caesar. They really deserve good representation. Reiwa series so far doesn't care about the monsters.

What I’m saying is that people almost romanticize Godzilla to absolve him of any responsibility, even when that’s not the creator intent. Which is why I actually like what Toho is doing. Making him an unspeakable force of nature makes him much more imposing and grants him more screen presence

As they should because this wonderful son of a b***h deserves the attention and people are right to expect the system that Toho took from King Kong and then perfected throughout the years creating their fictional world. Based Tanaka, his instincts were on point. Even the original movie has context behind it. Text and subtext. Absolute win.

Do we have to go into a deep dive because I can? In the original his motivation is ambiguous. In Kayama's version is partially connected to hunger but this was removed. The actual motivation in the film is both physical and emotional pain and the destruction of his kind at the hands of humans. Update from Kayama's version but that didn't stop him from appreciating it and making him cry in the theatre because of what humans did to Godzilla a second time.
As film scholars (and even some monster kids who were naturally first introduced to Kong), it's Godzilla and not for example Mighty Joe Young who represents the true successor of 1933 King Kong. Righteous, untamed primal anger. Naturally there are differences which is what makes Godzilla more than a copy. Godzilla's actions from human perspective are wrong because they assume collective guilt. Just like Kong, although also a noble savage, is pursely focused on his selfish desire and destroys everything and everyone around him that don't serve this purpose. Humans are guilty as well but part of Kong's trouble was due to the fact that he was looking for it. Both rampages were self-serving in their goal. That is if Godzilla had any concrete goal to begin with. He was probably just reacting and didn't care if he lived or died. A little bit of ambiguity is a plus.
And the switch to world defender doesn't really subvert or go against the original themes. Even though it was just a fluke and features crazy things like alien invasion it was made in accordance with gaian message. I believe it was Honda who made sure to steer it in such direction even though he didn't like the scene itself. A few guys like David Kalat wrote really nicely about it. Maybe some things get lost in translation because a lot of that is due to Eastern spiritual traditions. Even the Kiryu saga has those themes and that is just a crazy live action anime.

Even Honda said that Godzilla can represent different things for different generations. I don't think it was in response to a question about Banno but you know that he was fully on board with it because that gives the story relevance (and he did it himself just a few years before in AMA). I don't think the totemic symbolism itself changed a whole lot

Honda was only one of the voices and he complained too much. He had a different perspective and he wasn't fully happy with any of his movies. Like all directors when they look about their old work.

Which is why the Polygon trilogy and Singular Point got memory holed immediatelly. and that's the last we'll ever see of them. And Gamera Rebirth has a genuine chance beccause it looks like it knows how to handle the monsters. By giving them importance.
The point is that if this was a Godzilla series the reception would've been more positive
If it does well there will be season 2. The downside is that the budget isn't terribly great and it shows. But it's true if it was Godzilla in a show this dynamic that put him front and center and other monsters too it would make a lot more noise. But if Gamera is successful Toho might look at it and think "frick, we botched this. We actually have to make full use of the medium"
really digging Gamera having sumo wrestler moves. That open palm slap against Guirons face, the Jiger toss, the Gayos judo throw. The art still kinda looks like shit, but if the action is as good as this trailer sells it, we're eating fricking good
Before everyone gets jealous of Gamera, if it's not successful enough, Kadokawa may put him back to sleep for another 20 years while Toho may make a few more failed shows but those are like side projects to them that they outsourced somewhere else.that most people didn't notice even existed. Americans make money for them right now making movies in the same format they used to while they remake 1954 Gojira over and over. Simple.
If it won't succeed it's because it's Gamera not because they didn't improve enough on Toho's mistake. First things first the director bragged that he had more freedom with Kadokawa.

Obviously with Minus One. But if they were to make another animated show? Only if they learned from mistakes which means there's about 50/50 chance. Just hire someone enthusiastic and let him go nuts without moronic mandates. That guy that Kadokawa snatched from Toho? He was the only one associated with Toho's anime Godzillas who was actually a fan. Everybody else was simply on board to experiment a little, which didn't even result in anything imaginative.
Normally Godzilla easilly crushes Gamera in populairty contests. Heisei? Godzilla did really good until the end, Gamera did not, Daiei wanted more than three movies. Millennium? Final Wars flopped. Gamera the Brave... flopped even harder.
It’s also on Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla’s anniversary (robogodzilla), and the last one took from 2018 to 2021 to develop, so it makes sense this one takes 3 years as well, again these are all just more sensible judgements and the guy stated he still has a contract so that adds to it, we are maybe gonna get two special things if we are lucky in 2024 besides a G v MG short (so 3 plus Godzilla X Kong and apple if that materialised)
>the guy stated he still has a contract
Yeah contracts usually last for around 3-5 years after you stop working for someone, not that a neet would know.
That's probably the monster from the movie that was supposed to follow Gamera vs. Zigra but by then Daiei went bankrupt. In fact they went bankrupt way before that but were hiding it for as long as it was possible.
Well what happened to Pacific Rim Black? Did it get a second season? Gamera's chances are between second season of Kong (tied to MV) and that of Pacific Rim Black (brand recognized by at least some people).
Not him, but honestly no. Legion you could do, but Iris wouldn’t work again. Iris doesn’t really make sense outside of the trilogy. Any attempt to re-do it will feel like a half assed remake of the character because Iris was very contingent on the context and build up from the 3 movies. If you want a more easily repackaged squid monster, use Viras.

You know gamerautist you're being needlessly contrary
If you like Gamera so much, then you're supposed to frickin love the Heisei trilogy, especially the third one which is supposed to be the best of the lot
You don't make sense
Given that were getting Gyaos this go round and don't know the full explanation of the kaiju in general its pretty easy to work Irys in later. All we really need is for someone who lost family in the first season to blame Gamera and find a spooky egg.
i do too but i want then to double down on some of the insane weird stuff they had the first time around it's established that a literal multiverse and other dimensions does exist in the first one but not much else was explored about it i know some people are tired of that stuff but to be fair i dont think godzilla has ever really did that type of storyline yet
i kinda want it to somehow cross into maybe some of the other goji film continuities or even weirder and less likely maybe have entirely different kaiju or even mech series (including some of bones own?) cross into it somehow though maybe that would work better as a spinoff or side story.
I feel that they should really go for more of the reality bending bullshit with weirder geometries and so on. But please no multiverse travel we have enough of that everywhere, I'd like to see a more focused story that plays by it's own rules
i feel like its bound to happen at somepoint when your a long running scifi franchise feels inevitable a little plus i kinda do still want to see an actual godzilla vs godzilla scenario.
>the monsters are window dressing >all the science jargon is tied directly into and about learning about and stoping the monsters at its core
You can't be for real.
Yes this is a show where the monsters are the main threat. That doesn't make them important. They're there. They show up. They have same names and some have similar appearances to the monsters from Toho movies that fans love. But the show isn't interested in them. SP is not where you come for the best portrayal of the kaiju. They're just there. Might as well be killer shrews. Some stories in the franchise have two stories running side by side for humans and monsters. That was when the core creative team of Toho was at its creative height. Reiwa series is unique in its disinterest in its own monsters. Some of them were even used as evolutions of Godzilla I heard that controversy was discussed recently.

If all those famous kaiju fandom guys spend their time looking for literal kids saying dumb shit like "next movie shouldn't have any humans in them" so they can make fun of them to make themselves look cool, can it also be true for those who say "who cares, monsters are just monsters I don't want them to be characters" even though Toho perfected this approach which they took from 1933 King Kong, which is incidently why I've already read two articles by film scholars who see in Godzilla (or I guess the entire Japanese kaiju eiga) as the true successor of King Kong and not Mighty Joe Young or any of the 50s Western monster movies where monsters didn't matter until the last movie of that era - Gorgo.

Heisei and Final Wars had their approach too and that's already most of the franchise. Stand alone approach is more recent.
I know nothing about Gamers but always thought about getting into it because he looks cute and I like turtles. Is it true his origin is he was a pet turtle that got so much love from his owner he turned into a huge Kaiju and began protecting him and others from other Kaiju?
That sounds like Toto’s origin. Showa origin was a guardian that may or may have not been betrayed by his people at some point being frozen in the Arctic until atomic tests thawed him out not unlike that of the beast from 20000 fathoms. Heisei origins was that he was a creation of the people of Atlantis as a guardian to protect their civilization that harnesses the mana of the earth. Yeah he’s quite something
He's a turtle version of a bio-android. I don't know if they went into so many details in the 60s but there was a link to an ancient civilization. A big, ancient turtle who woke up and started wrecking shit.
One of them.
Those also sound interesting. Really need to watch some of it. Will probably marathon some of it before rebirth comes around.

>"WHY ISN'T THE MOVIE ABOUT TWO MONSTERS FIGHTING FOR AN HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES!? HUMANS ARE SO BORING!?"
Cause no one wants to watch that kind of shit. Go watch some autist on youtube slam two vinyl figures together for an hour.
No one said anything like that except maybe some 13 year olds in some youtube comments after GVK and maybe I heard people say it half-jokingly on some normie streams so I don't know who you're quoting now. Do we have to choose what aspect the movie cares about? Can't we have both? Although no-human stories centred on the monsters have been tried before with success but never in film or tv. We'll be getting this new show Godzilla and the Titans and even though the promise is that the monsters will featured heavily I wouldn't mind a limited screentime if it means they get to be presented with respect, in character etc etc. But in this case I suspect the show will be torture when it comes to the human aspect with possible exception of Kurt Russell.
Ok then you hang around some kids, congrats. Make sure to use this strawman to let everyone know how cool you are. like that butthole who brought up Destoroyah out of fricking nowhere "dumb Godzilla fans just want Toho monster but I'm enlightened by my own intelligence and I want Legendary to make new monsters and I'm glad they're going in that direction"
Yeah. Can't wait until we can talk about how the real main villain of GxK is actually based on unused version of Spacegodzilla. Can't wait to have that conversation.
The problem though isn't always the humans alone, it's that the humans often suck and are uninteresting/bad characters with sections that feel meandering or like bad pacing that grinds any built up momentum to a halt or cuts away to wienerblock you from seeing something interesting.
Info about the pic:

`New Titan artwork
`Shimu's Playmate's figure.
`Scar King's spine whip.
Godzilla being in the deep levels of the Hollow Earth causes his body to start mutating, the outer layer of his spines break apart and reveal these softer, fleshier spines rippling with heat and pulse like heartbeats.
Kong's arm his badly damaged by Scar King and Shimu, resulting in Monarch having to make him an exo arm cast to aid him while he recovers, design inspired by and issue of Spider-Man with a similar premise.
New flying Titan called Quetzalcoatl.
Scar King's spine whip, self explanatory, his personal weapon and the handle has a shard of Shimu's crystal on it.
Not that anon but there was a leak that supposedly came from a screen viewing that mentioned Kong getting an upgrade and OrangaKong having a whip weapon made of a spinal cord.

Maybe responsible for like the snowball Earth or something? The Ice Age, the most famous one, wasn't that recently geologically speaking. Godzilla is way older than that. But ok, we have no idea how long Shimu has been out there.

Shimu was the First Titan born.
Plot wise, last time he was awakened and escaped the Hollow Earth he caused the Ice Age, Godzilla banished him back into the Hollow Earth. Scar King learns of Shimu and uses one of it's Crystals to control or give it orders until He refuses commands during final act.

If they give Godzilla something to do other than show up here and there to clean up the mess it may actually be a nice way to come back to the theme from his solo films about the role he plays versus those who just want control. It was all too brief even in KotM when he saw the headlines about people and monsters understanding their place a little better.
Shimu is Astrogodzilla repurposed for the Monsterverse. Ice, crystals, similar to at least one proposed version. It's a new monster but technically also a Toho monster. Same as if they used Bagan.

Pipeworks created the character, but it's owned by Toho because it was made for a Godzilla related property, same with Obsidius.
The Titans in the MV are owned by Legendary, minus Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla.
Godzilla's the first monster to appear in GxK and Humanity has basically accepted him as part of their lives now. He's role in the film is cleaning up Kong's mess, even smacking him through a pyramid as a "way to go, Dumbass" comedic moment.

What are you talking about?
This thing right here is official so yeah. Pyramids. We're gonna see a world tour in this film. Godzilla's visiting Europe and Africa and if he also travels to South American it would mean he's traveled to every continent on Earth. People expect some buddy cop going on I don't know how much their stories will be intertwined. Most of the returning characters are from Kong's camp. Godzilla has lost most of his cheerleaders. Unless he's seen as a hero to the people again then consider most of the world his cheerleaders.
Godzilla's is Earth's immune system, Humanity is part of Earth so he "Protects" them but it's not like a Superman type relationship.
Titan gets out of line or someone tries fricking with Nature(Mechagodzilla)? Godzilla appears, deals with it and leaves.
>kongs mess
elaborate are there like creatures coming out of the hole godzilla made in hong kong?
No, that's briefly mentioned and Monarch has that covered. Egypt has an access way to the Hollow Earth.
Kong causes an earthquake and releases Scar King and his crew. Kong being lonely joins up with them until they meet Godzilla in Egypt, whom sensed Scar King was released. Scar King and his crew attacks Godzilla, Kong is standoffish considering that Godzilla isn't his enemy, but realizes quickly that Scar King is bad news due to Godzilla only appearing to attack him.
Godzilla either assumes Kong released them or knows that they only appeared when Kong was there, thus slaps him through a Pyramid before they team up.

Sounds like a darker episode for Kong (like GVK was for Godzilla) except this time Godzilla will be the sympathetic one... No, not really it's still gonna be a Kong show but it would be funny if the roles were reversed a little. Of course they can't fit everything into one movie but one of these days I'd love to see Godzilla interact more with others. Like in KotM those brief moments with Mothra or Rodan. Or in the comics. But from what I know from the leaks there may be bits and pieces of that in the movie. Like in the Rome scenes.
I just really want to be proven wrong about Wingard.

The movie felt like a Saturday morning cartoon, but live action.
People who wanted a realistic take of Godzilla or loved 2014 will absolutely hate it.
It's Kong's movie, but Godzilla is still top billing, if that makes sense.
Kong thinks he gains a potential new family but doesnt at first, axe is destroyed, nearly loses his arm, but has a good end point for him. "The New Empire" in the title isn't pointing towards Scar King, it's Kong.
The Final battle is surprisingly emotional for a dumb giant monster popcorn movie.

Godzilla got top billing last time too. For casual audience it makes no difference but more fans prefer Godzilla so they would notice even if Wingard is more interested in Kong and people have every excuse under the Sun for it but it's fine as long as he gets his due in some way. Because if he's just there to throw a few punches his presence in these movies will feel a little... weird. Like, from the audience's perspective what would be the reason to care about him or be excited that they see his scene now instead of Kong's? Which I think partially explains why some people think or really want to believe it's gonna be a buddy cop movie with monsters but it takes two characters that the audience can root for.
Godzilla's at least getting too old for this shit.

Before the last movie I wanted this for Rodan. One day he'll make an appearance for sure. For now only Mothra has a convenient excuse to not be around in her physical form. They're absent because honestly Kong hogs all the spotlight and there's room for a couple scenes with Godzilla but not with others. So Godzilla's character suffers because he doesn't get to be the king. And I know what's the canon explanation but in GxK that excuse is no longer valid and we know from the leaks that once again the titans are roaming free but it makes no sense that in the moments of danger Godzilla just doesn't utilize them in a fight. And maybe they're saving it for the next movie if there is the next movie but for now I imagine Rodan just enjoying himself because his boss is doing all the job and he can just ignore everything.

That's an excuse like that he can't bleed (which was proven wrong last year). But what that was actually about was that he can't goof around or do something you wouldn't expect him to do like body language that doesn't suit him. So you probably won't see Godzilla facepalming or rolling his eyes. Although in an IDW comic they did show him rub his neck when it hurt him in a human-like way.
But even Toho must realize that enforcing more when it's a sympathetic portrayal of Godzilla (not like Shin or Earth that are meant to be unknown, almost alien-like entities) enforcing something like that is just impossible and their famous mandates (although I assume at least half of them are made up rumors) get ignored frequently.

If we asked maybe people who don't really care and are casual vieweres then, depending where they're from, maybe most would recognize Kong's name. But there used to be a group that definitely prefered Kong. Monster kids or monster boomers. They completely dismissed Godzilla or Japanese monster movies in general. I have a pretty good book about the making of the original King Kong and a few times Godzilla and friends are mentioned is with total arrogant dismissal. The shift changed in the mid-2000s. In another book there's an essay that mentions conflicted loyalty. So basically in classic genre movie fandom there used to be a sizeable pro-Kong group but thankfully they're really small and aging now. They were really moronic too. Seemed more into stop motion as a special effects technique than in movie being good. So when writing about 1976 movie they main criticism wasn't that the movie was kind of boring and it sucked but because it used suits and totally didn't deserve the Oscar.

He clearly fell in love with his take on Kong . His storyline remained intact but Godzilla's side of the story was essentially removed though some of that was reused in tie ins. GVK is an anti-Godzilla film that was supposed to make peopl root for Kong the entire time and I know there are million excuses and they're rejected for being invalid. There's high probability this will carry into the next movie too. If not outright villanous then Godzilla will be neglected again. His subplot, not seen on screen since 2019, will then be used in a prequel comic with badly traced art.

Yeah, it would make sense for self-proclaimed 'movie buffs' and old heads to prefer Kong because of the importance of the 1933 film, while kaiju fans think Godzilla is just the cooler monster of the two. >The shift changed in the mid-2000s
I think the Internet helped Godzilla along, I mean people definitely recognized Godzilla in pop-culture but mostly as a joke from MST3K or the HB cartoon, and dubbed versions of the cheaper early 70's Godzilla films. But that's also when King Kong 2005 came out, which was popular, and more importantly good, unlike 1976. >there used to be a sizeable pro-Kong group but thankfully they're really small and aging now >thankfully
I resent that 😀 I'm an old head boomer with one foot in the grave (25 years old) and I'm admittedly a Kong mark, lol. I don't really care that the original Kong has a lot of prestige and I never dismissed suitmation. As a kid I saw the trailer for King Kong Escapes on my Godzilla DVDs and I thought it was the coolest shit ever. I still think Escapes is better than 1976 at least.1976 didn't even have dinosaurs, what a rip. Kong 2005 at least captured the feel of Skull Island as the primordial hellscape that's a big part of Kong's appeal.

I don't have the resources but if I ever were to make a documentary about the changing history of this west-east rivalry I'd definitely ask that one youtuber who loves Kong'76 if it's not about effects then what? There are exceptions like Allen Debus (I'm actually going to pick up his second book I ordered in a few minutes) who switched camps or at least didn't find it wrong to be a fan of both. But the generation that was born between 1920s (like Harryhausen) and maybe early 60s (like Peter Jackson who also said some unpleasant things not just about 76 Kong but Toho movies as well) the thought of someone else threatning Kong's position resulted in some kind of defensive reaction from them. This is something that's dying a natural death right now and now both are cgi anyway. If anything it's Kong who's catching up to Godzilla now because he gets better material in the crossover movies.

>who loves Kong'76
Do these people exist? The Kong suit and animatronics are cool, and Jessica Lange is very nice to look at. That's all that's good about it lol. To me it never came close to the original, while the 2005 version does capture a lot of the same appeal, at least for the Skull Island sections. >Peter Jackson who also said some unpleasant things not just about 76 Kong but Toho movies
So did Toho-haters dislike 1976 Kong because it was suitmation, and therefore low-brow? Even when the suit effects for '76 Kong pretty good actually. Although to me King Kong Escapes actually makes the monsters look big more succesfully, and Nakajima's Kong in Escapes is way better than the stiff yeti in the 1976 version. Also, wasn't Godzilla respected for the 1954 original movie at the least, or was it dismissed as a 50's B-tier monster movie. As a tiny tot moron watching Kong 1933 and the first Godzilla I always assumed stop-motion couldn't be used for Godzilla because of the larger scale and never had a problem with it.

If they admitted that the effects looked goof in 1976 they would legitimize the technique. In the same book Godzilla 1998 is praised for walking away from "suit-fest" and I think that was the only argument raised in the review. And when Jurassic Park was mentioned it was suggested that next to CGI and animatronics, the movie used "traditional forms of animation" because they would rather lie than admit that Jurassic Park also used men in suits. This is all something that just doesn't exist anymore. Opinions like that.

Jurassic Park did have screentests for stop-motion, if they hadn't been shitcanned the statement about traditional animation wouldn've been true. Although one could be really anal and include the sequence with Mr. DNA lol

I think it just means that Kong explores Hollow Earth and awakens something (yeah, the plot) so Godzilla has to come downstairs. Or maybe the threat first reaches the surface and when the two finally meet, Godzilla gives him a scolding. Kaiju hazing.
Info about the pic:
The images in black are from Hiya's statue line, while the one in white with the feathers is another new Titan and the other two whites are the Playmates line.
`Godzilla's upgrade for the film.
`Kong's "upgrade" for the film.
I think they're expecting us to believe that they'll harden between this film and the next one, however the description is blatantly of a Miregoji homage (kind of uncreative since there are already MULTIPLE fan designs of a Legendary G2K)
so if this is real are godzillas spines supposed to be based on the miregoji design its not exact but the spikeyness is similar he looks slightly green too
Did you also notice how the symbollic skulls of Godzilla and Kong in the teaser are closer in size now? People kept saying that there's no need for a major redesign only a couple tweaks. Next will be making Mothra larger (because last time she rushed her transformation there's a perfect excuse to give her a stronger body next).
Assuming he appeared in the Monsterverse, what way would you want him portrayed? Personally, I'd build him up similarly to how 2014 built up Godzilla but go way weirder and more mysterious. >Monarch discovers an iceberg floating around with a Titan inside. It's potentially dead going by the complete lack of life signals >Mysteriously, entire towns start becoming abandoned without any explanation or evidence. >Intentional reference to "Them!" with a young girl driven insane and cackling about the end of days >The guys keeping watch on the iceberg and keeping watch for vitals in the middle of the night suddenly get a blip on the heart monitor that rapidly increases in pace >Nobody is there to see what happened, but they find the iceberg torn open as if something exploded out of it >Around the same time multiple Titans are found dead, as if something just fricking tore into them and ate the meat off their bones. >There's also sightings of what appears to be Godzilla, but attacking and outright eating people. >Now there's sightings of a UFO streaking through the skies, with it's path leaving a trail of bodies, with these Titans >Gamera does show up constantly throughout the movie, but usually in shadow or only partially revealed. >The reason why there isn't much visual evidence is due to a combination of lacking survivors and the fights being so destructive they level almost all Monarch recording equipment >Movie is not a monster action thing, at least until the last 20 minutes, wherein it's pure fighting for nearly half an hour straight, and is instead a thriller/mystery about people trying to figure out what's going on with how minimal information is. But when it comes time for the monsters to throw down it's something absolutely apocalyptic in nature. >Also the big twist is that the Godzilla-looking monster is actually a humongous Gyaos mimic, akin to an Owl butterfly.
Since Monsterverse Godzilla took a lot of cues from Trilogy Gamera, I think the mystery/Showa route is the best option.
Just have it that deep in the Antarctic there’s a nuclear weapons test for new anti-Titan weapons, ironically destroying miles deep amounts of ice and releasing Gamera. When released it goes straight to major locations with heat and energy and eats it up, causing damage.
However, Monarch realizes that it only eats energy then leaves, and seems to even actively avoid major populations.
When attacked it’s revealed Gamera can fly and breathe fire. When Godzilla encounters Gamera he has no clue what it is and seems confused by it.
Then when Gamera saves some kids, Monarch realizes that it’s one of the smartest Titans to date, raising even more questions. No ancient civilizations seem to reference him, so no one knows how he came to be or when.
People probably think that Mothra is but what if Rodan was actually the smartest. He's just really above it all and a dick but feels he's the only sane one.
Most of it is pretty much confirmed with at least two sources. It still doesn't tell us the entire movie and I don't really feel it's all bad. maybe a little disappointing that Godzilla has to fight for every crumb of attention that Kong gets.
We are getting Godzilla Singular Point Season 2 boys! Its called "Impetus" and the plot is "Four years after Godzilla appeared, an Indian company completes a new being from the first version of the monster, and has invented a weapon to get complete control and understanding of the multiverses (or something). However, after the red dust releases more Rodan worldwide, a few attack the location one gets in the weapon becoming super powerful"
>omg guys let me join your discussion and change the topić to... Gamera >what if he was literally Godzilla except the best, strongest fastest, smartest, most beloved >when he's not on screen other characters would ask "I wonder what Gamera is doing right now" >seeing all this, Godzilla would kneel before him and hand him his crown saying "I'm not worthy"
>hmm they are talking too much about godzilla and kang or whatever the monkey is called.. >I know, I'll just make a shitty question to "promote discussion " and start talking about my gamera headcanon
How exactly is Gamera not going to be one of the smartest ones if you’re looking at him still protecting kids and curbing his damage? Genuinely curious.
I don't know if Ultraman's pose is because of Tsuburaya's Christianity but it's nice that in the first Godzilla movie after his death we saw this small tribute thought up on the spot (Toho was on a warpath with Tsuburaya so they wouldn't like seeing that in the script).
I've seen people claim that the flesh on Godzilla's hand gets burned away revealing bone when hit by Hedorah's beam. But I'm not sure that was in the script or if that was the intention in the movie. Hedorah does turn peple into skeletons. Hedorah's blood/acid sludge does leave a bone colour on Godzilla's hand but it's also visible on his head. Also the bone coloured hand changes from left to right once. I really wanted to illustrate a Godzilla vs Hedorah poster with this element but I'm not sure if it's canon so I didn't do it. Not sure if OCD
>Toho was on a warpath with tsuburaya productions
This was true and an important history with the special effects crew there, after his passing he crew and honda wanted to pay tribute to him with a dedication notice on space ameba(YOG: monster from space) but the company’s resentment towards his studio forbid them from doing so, afterwards a lot of the crew left for tsuburaya for return of ultraman, others including original suit maker for 54 goji went to P-Productions(he already contributed to ambassador magma earlier with the charity masks) and senkosha pro for Silver kamen, a few others may have even joined forces with toei. Really was the end of the original monster boom era and the beginning of the henshin hero golden age
They sold items from Tsuburaya's workshop. Or as I read "turned it into gift shop" but I don't know what it means exactly. Television scared these studios exacpt Toei I think. Toei survived the 70s thanks to television, Toho because of disaster films (and monster movies helped too a bit), Nikkatsu because of softcore movies, Shochiku maybe because they weren't making expensive movie and Daiei was the main casualty.
But they had their comeback too even if in the 80s and 90s Japanese movies had to compete with Hollywood.
Toei was in the same shoes Columbia pictures was in during the fall of the old studio code, they praised the hell out of television the moment Seven colored mask was a hit on TV after being motivated by the moonlight mask and price of space film adaptations they did. It’s no wonder they did well in the competitive game. Toho only realized this early on and even played around with a Godzilla television series before merging the idea with some fighter
I actually like how Minus One looks. Too many fans these days are extremely stuck in the late Showa, late Heisei and Millennium eras, without thinking about the tone of the rest of the franchise.
>Spacegodzilla is said to possess genius level IQ >still gets outsmarted by an eartling dinosaur who figures out his weak point
Is he like a regular dude who sometimes has a genius eureka moment-tier?
Found this mildly interesting, it’s titled Godzilla vs the flying saucers and apparently they’re supposed to be the ones from the harryhausen flick even though they don’t look like them, could be completely wrong however but i just liked to share this. From the mid 60s since ultraman’s name can be seen below. Wonder if they’re is anymore like this because I once saw magazine artwork of kappa’s fighting the metaluna mutant from “This island earth”

it's from around Guardian Of The Universe, I got it at some comics shop that knew exactly nothing about what they were selling around a quarter century ago, got theatrical posters for Adieu 999 and one of the Yamatos, I think Final for five bucks each, a sales pamphlet to hype 999 TV for American markets, and also this random Gamera comic, all around the same price.
Flipping through it, seems that monsters happen, Gamera rises from the depths, and then some Kenny goes full Daisaku to his Giant Robo for reasons against some butthole in a cape

I wouldn't even notice that if Higuchi didn't start shitting on Kawakita in public (and now it's him who rides on the back of his earlier successes) other than the space battle in Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla. Is it that bad? Maybe it doesn't break new ground, doesn't have the complexities that Biollante had. Still, maybe monster presentation (the effects mainly) is better in Heisei Gamera but the monsters themselves, their part in the story, Heisei Godzilla does better.

I honestly think the Heisei trilogy would've improved if it made it's monsters way more powerful and destructive because it would better suit the apocalyptic narrative.
Only posting here because some time ago someone mentioned some gay Godzilla short and there's a follow up.
>One thing I’d like to get off my chest before deleting is that Toho did endorse my Coming Out short (and I’ll ride that forever) but it was a calculated PR move and the communication around it has left me feeling used: >They’d emailed me suggesting that there was work for me with them, making stop motion for their socials, and then asked if they could post my short. I didn’t even think twice about stipulations or contract or anything (foolishly) I was just a fangirl. >After they posted it, they dropped off. If I emailed to follow up about potential work they’d offered, they started giving me the run around before saying “oh the social team is different now sorry.” They also unfollowed me on all platforms. >They got in touch again when my short was invited to all those festivals, but they just sent me product and the congratulations letter just had instructions on how to showcase their products on socials. >They don’t even take my emails or messages anymore, since I’ve reached out once or twice to say “hey since you posted that could you say Trans Rights or something cuz your Trans fans could use a little support” and I got left on read. >To this day the only $ I’ve gotten from that short are from you lovely people who have sent me tips, or from queer film festivals offering screening fees (always ONLY the queer and Trans run ones) >I obviously still love Godzilla and am happy for the experience but - this is a reminder that no matter what, corporations don’t care about you, and if you’re an artist of any kind you neeeeeeed to have a contract laying out terms and ASK FOR A FEE if a brand wants your art
I have no idea what that b***h's problem is but here it is. Some of you might be interested in how it ended.
In other words >I’ve reached out once or twice to say “hey since you posted that could you say Trans Rights or something cuz your Trans fans could use a little support” and I got left on read.
Matt Frank gloated recently that Sound of Freedom cheated and the movie wasn't that popular because of some reasons (I later found a source that debunked that claim but again I wasn't interested enough to remember) which convinces me that he has cp on his hard drive.
He has been friends with Neo Epstein island since the beginning, more than enough reasoning for me that he is an Uber pedophile, though thanks for adding another layer of conformation here
>One thing I’d like to get off my chest before deleting is that Toho did endorse my Coming Out short

This was before they opened that new overseas office/store but to me it seems like whoever run that whoever was behind Toho US, the Japanese branch wasn't fully aware and when they realized it they decided not to get into this mess and broke all contact once it became obvious it wasn't simply some feel good stop motion animation with Godzilla in it but it was supposed to make a statement.

None of those are the design from the trailer. Give an explanation as to why the trailer uses a placeholder design
Otherwise I'm writing you off as being Apollo Z. Hack autist-raging over this film being set before the original
You are intentionally misconstruing what im saying The image i was given resembled the concept sketch on the bottom left i never said it was the finalized design
Funny how your kind were and always were killed for a good reason,
I meant that nobody was denying Kaiju were /m/. It seems like you brought that up because you interpreted the drama as claiming Godzilla wasn't /m/ somehow?
Moving away from the homosexualy low effort baitpost what do you anons think the Signifigance of this shot means?
The subtitles seem to be alluding to something despite the show suposedly only having five kaiju going against Gamera
What could this mean?
Go Away baiter and let discussion happen.
The possibilities
>Secret 6th Kaiju
>Zanon
>Something blows the frick up so hard it's visible from the moon
>The moon gets blown up
>Gamera or the other monsters come from space
if its Zanon i feel they would have to make him look less like a star destroyer because of the pedo mouse company
im leaning maybe to a secret final boss since we got six episodes but we only have been told that it's Gamera vs Five kaiju, there’s been a 6 part Kaiju series beforehand, picrel
But Zanon isn't a kaiju
>Zanon comes down as an absolutely fricking massive metal cone. Like, size of a fricking Cumulonimbus
>Gamera goes into full-on J-shootemup with it's defenses
>Unfolds into an even bigger robot
>Leads into a fight with Gamera that ends with Gamera pile-driving him through every planet in the solar system straight into the sun.

I’m meh about Guiron’s design. I feel like he should be bulkier, not thinner.
Viras looks great, Zigra looks good.
Gonna say it, I feel Toho should stick to the experimental more thematic stuff while letting Legendary handle the monster bash because it's clearly what both are the best at
Yeah KoTM was great, the others not so much.
People will lose interest in Toho side of things of they themselves won't show any interest in the monsters. Both anime they ordered didn't leave much of an impression. These guys should be characters
>Anguirus, a Monster Island denizen, a loyal, plucky friend who jumps face first into danger
memorable
>Anguirus, a buffalo on a safari and cannon fodder
not memorable
>People will lose interest in Toho side of things
This will never be true when you morons started banging your heads against the wall and clapping when the new movie was announced.
Edgy Godzilla that makes people think of the 1954 movie runs on easy mode. The real challenge is to make more outlandish movies.
Yeah but that’s cool to watch him frick shit up
It's primarily because Honda wasn't really interested in the monsters as characters and was more interested in what they represented.
Autism of the highest degree.
You're in the wrong thread. Go look for something about American monster movies from the 50s.
>incredibly specific reply
Point in case.
Tourist.
People reacted positively because it's Gamera
Because he hasn't been seen in a while but Gamera is no Godzilla and it's an animated series and they tend to be lost in the crowd.
The point is that if this was a Godzilla series the reception would've been more positive
People are inexplicably selective with their memories of these characters
Each version can have a different take but the typical image that people have of Anguirus probably won't be superseded by "that random strange animal that's there to be hunted down". Some years ago Toho vetoed the idea of using Anguirus's corpse in Tokyo S.O.S. thinking fans would be upset. And in Final Wars they had Godzilla spare him, Rodan and King Caesar. They really deserve good representation. Reiwa series so far doesn't care about the monsters.
Honestly the Reiwa series is good because it's deciding to shut fanartists and shippers DOWN.
Ok we're adding another crazy to the list.
Jesus Christ
This might not be for you. You're like that moronic historian who writes about Godzilla 1954 just fine and then just whines and whines that the series continued and that it isn't what he wanted to be.Like yeah, you should've known what are one of the core foundations of the franchise before you hopped on the bandwagon you stupid butthole.
You’re a complete apologist at this rate. Is he a victim? Sometimes yeah. But acting like his own dickery isn’t a thing is just wrong
He was always more about what it represents rather than what it is
Honda was only one of the voices and he complained too much. He had a different perspective and he wasn't fully happy with any of his movies. Like all directors when they look about their old work.
literally everything in that series that happened was all tied into the monsters speedwatcher
They tried to made outlandish stuff recently and you b***hed about it, make up you're damned mind already.
>the low I.Q westard fandom is getting filtered by Godzilla Singular Chads
did you expect anything less anon
Which is why the Polygon trilogy and Singular Point got memory holed immediatelly. and that's the last we'll ever see of them. And Gamera Rebirth has a genuine chance beccause it looks like it knows how to handle the monsters. By giving them importance.

Simple.
It won’t succeed. We’re going to get villainzilla
If it won't succeed it's because it's Gamera not because they didn't improve enough on Toho's mistake. First things first the director bragged that he had more freedom with Kadokawa.
what the frick are you morons going on about get out
Kong cartoon is also not doing so great. Allegedly because it was "burried" whatever that means and people are pissed it ends on some obvious cliffhanger and S2 isn't even greenlit yet. Just give Godzilla a shot next.
Hey, schizo. Frick off.
it wasnt "burried" it just hasnt been greenlit yet
>the schizo calling the others schizo
hella ironic
Toho is going to completely and effortlessly outdo the Gamera anime and we both know it
Obviously with Minus One.
I mean in terms of quality
>this is the guy some want us to sympathize with and relate to more over cool dinosaur dragon
https://twitter.com/EnJoeToh/status/1683998068855963651 well at least he gave some kind of answer
I mean, I'd like to see a sequel. Seems like their best chance to one-up the Gameranime
My bets are for 2024, though this is only based off how toho schedules stuff, and because it would be a nice 70th anniversary project
It would be a fricking insult if that were the anniversary product.
Looks like Guiron's keeping his throwing star launchers
Yes he is
So if S2 gets greenlit what monsters would you want to see?
>6 instead of 5 monsters
>Zedus
>Legion
>Barugon
>Garasharp
>W
>Irys
>W
????
That's probably the monster from the movie that was supposed to follow Gamera vs. Zigra but by then Daiei went bankrupt. In fact they went bankrupt way before that but were hiding it for as long as it was possible.
Garasharp was invented in the 90s.
W isn't Garasharp
Because it was invented in the 90s.
Although clearly based on W.
In what regard? The snake-ness?
Godzilla IS King Kong but better. Checks more boxes. Thematically, emotionally and because he's a dinosaur.
Apparently Viras is undead according to new info
so what chance does Gamera have of getting a second season
lmfao
Well what happened to Pacific Rim Black? Did it get a second season? Gamera's chances are between second season of Kong (tied to MV) and that of Pacific Rim Black (brand recognized by at least some people).
It did get a second season.
Probably because Boy
Gonna have to shove it down some vtubers throat and get a popular reaction series out of it.
What even counts as success for a Netflix show?
Does it need a second season? This one could just tell a single whole story
More monsters
Apparently they'll do it if it does well enough. Whatever that means
I hope it works. Spread the news
You don't want to see Irys return?
Irys is pointless without the context of the trilogy, how can you miss that? Do you just watch compilations of monster scenes on youtube?
Just do what the trilogy did then and have a collateral victim awaken it to kill Gamera. Because Irys deserved a better showing than last time
Not him, but honestly no.
I feel Irys’s payoff was piss-poor compared to the buildup. It’s one of the worst giant monster fights because it feels too restrained
We know gamerautist, you mention it every fricking time.
Am I wrong?
Yes. You’re wrong every single time.
Dipshit, gamerautist, you think this is gonna be a good show?
Automatically wrong
>the low effort Kaijurager moron can't even tell Gamerautist moron is talking about the Heisei movies and not Rebirth and still thinks Gamerautist is a rebirth fan despite making it clear by his fanfic shilling he isnt
you are both equally moronic and the board would be better if you both got rangebanned
You know gamerautist you're being needlessly contrary
If you like Gamera so much, then you're supposed to frickin love the Heisei trilogy, especially the third one which is supposed to be the best of the lot
You don't make sense
I feel like redoing the other monsters in the anime style
Given that were getting Gyaos this go round and don't know the full explanation of the kaiju in general its pretty easy to work Irys in later. All we really need is for someone who lost family in the first season to blame Gamera and find a spooky egg.
From what I've seen so far they're pulling some weird fricking monster origins. Like how Viras is literally found as a corpse
Iris is meant to be the most powerful and worst variant of Gyaos, who feeds off the hatred of one human being.
So about Minus One. What’s with his design there?
What, just do what was done last time to bring it in
The one tweet got 32+21k views so that may get Toho a bit more interested
I hope they just do SP season 2 but with more action
i do too but i want then to double down on some of the insane weird stuff they had the first time around it's established that a literal multiverse and other dimensions does exist in the first one but not much else was explored about it i know some people are tired of that stuff but to be fair i dont think godzilla has ever really did that type of storyline yet
i kinda want it to somehow cross into maybe some of the other goji film continuities or even weirder and less likely maybe have entirely different kaiju or even mech series (including some of bones own?) cross into it somehow though maybe that would work better as a spinoff or side story.
Look, that’s cool and all but it’s been done to death already and reeks of running out of ideas
SRW does Multiverse shit a lot and nobody really complains about that
That still doesn’t make it okay
I love various Gs hanging out together for gag comics but I wouldn't want Crisis On Infinite Godzillas
Also how’s that manga scan going
A different Godzilla summoned to sort this shit out would be cool but completely out of step in this show where monsters are pure window dressing.
That’s just dumb. Let it be it’s own thing
>the monsters are window dressing
>all the science jargon is tied directly into and about learning about and stoping the monsters at its core
People are inexplicably stuck to the Showa portrayals of the characters
Heisei and Final Wars had their approach too and that's already most of the franchise. Stand alone approach is more recent.
Really kinda wasn't
Speaking of what was the deal with the multiverse being alluded to in shin ultraman anyway?
Alternate universes have been a thing since Tiga, and they mean the Brane Cosmology kind
Either that means the original M78 continuity was alluded too or Zoffy seems to know about a certain incident regarding angels
Rebirth is what the Heisei fights should've been in terms of melee. I wanted Gamera and his enemies to REALLY fricking throw down with their fists.
I know nothing about Gamers but always thought about getting into it because he looks cute and I like turtles. Is it true his origin is he was a pet turtle that got so much love from his owner he turned into a huge Kaiju and began protecting him and others from other Kaiju?
*Gamera
Damn autocorrect
That sounds like Toto’s origin. Showa origin was a guardian that may or may have not been betrayed by his people at some point being frozen in the Arctic until atomic tests thawed him out not unlike that of the beast from 20000 fathoms. Heisei origins was that he was a creation of the people of Atlantis as a guardian to protect their civilization that harnesses the mana of the earth. Yeah he’s quite something
Those also sound interesting. Really need to watch some of it. Will probably marathon some of it before rebirth comes around.
>Showa origin was a guardian that may or may have not been betrayed by his people
Sauce?
Gamerautist delusion.
He's a turtle version of a bio-android. I don't know if they went into so many details in the 60s but there was a link to an ancient civilization. A big, ancient turtle who woke up and started wrecking shit.
One of them.
I like when Godzilla is hunting or eating. Cute.
What is Higuchi thinking?
>No one said anything like that
Oh I'm laffin.
The images in black are from Hiya's statue line, while the one in white with the feathers is another new Titan and the other two whites are the Playmates line.
`Godzilla's upgrade for the film.
`Kong's "upgrade" for the film.
New but still we know (s)he's out there and already had a ton of fan designs.
Goji, I hope it's not permanent. I think people would riot if it was.
Please tell me this isn't real what the frick
Not that anon but there was a leak that supposedly came from a screen viewing that mentioned Kong getting an upgrade and OrangaKong having a whip weapon made of a spinal cord.
It says in the spoilers.
Why is Godzilla pink and green like a salmon
red spiral ray but seriously this better don't last I don't want Godzilla like that
Also is Shima female, I need to know this for… “reasons”
Male, the very first Titan.
Doesn't it have ice powers?
Literally a mix between Anguirus and Spacegodzilla, but with ice powers and is responsible for the Ice Age.
I like Scar being a decoy villain. Also Godzilla really likes banishing his opponents instead of killing him. That's like three or four times this happened.
Scar King is the main villain, but Shimu is like an ancient artifact or weapon that he doesnt understand and ultimately leads to bigger problems and his downfall.
If they give Godzilla something to do other than show up here and there to clean up the mess it may actually be a nice way to come back to the theme from his solo films about the role he plays versus those who just want control. It was all too brief even in KotM when he saw the headlines about people and monsters understanding their place a little better.
Aw, no big milfa monster for the first monster…
Shimu is Astrogodzilla repurposed for the Monsterverse. Ice, crystals, similar to at least one proposed version. It's a new monster but technically also a Toho monster. Same as if they used Bagan.
So it's literally a Barugon knockoff.
At least something that can credibly pose a threat to Godzilla. Of course given Wingard's indifference to him the last time I don't expect Godzilla to be shown any sympathy in the movie.
Quadrupedal horned ice lizard with spikes on the back that causes the environment to freeze. All it needs is a long tongue and a beam weapon from it's back to be Barugon in all but name
no he fricking isn't he is a remagined Rokmutul frick off with your fanfiction shit homosexual
I see. Legendary cleared it with their legal team that they can plausibly claim that it was totally not influenced at all by one of their unused concept and all similarities are just accidental.
And because Krystalak, another potential design inspiration is copyright hell, they wanna try and keep themselves as far away from any of that stuff as possible legally so they don’t have to pay multiple dead studios for Shimu or something
It's as vague as it gets but ice, crystals, albino. This seems rather on point. I think they were just looking for inspiration and unmade Godzilla films is one of the most popular topics in the fandom.
Those may be more official.
Shimu was inspired by a Komodo Dragon, Anguirus and Spacegodzilla.
Sunstone died, Toho has frickoff money, this is no issue.
that was pipeworks and atari not sunstone get your facts straight
Pipeworks created the character, but it's owned by Toho because it was made for a Godzilla related property, same with Obsidius.
The Titans in the MV are owned by Legendary, minus Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla.
Godzilla's the first monster to appear in GxK and Humanity has basically accepted him as part of their lives now. He's role in the film is cleaning up Kong's mess, even smacking him through a pyramid as a "way to go, Dumbass" comedic moment.
So do we get no racial stereotypes like Bay or what since this is gonna be a revenge of the fallen type film
What are you talking about?
Godzilla's is Earth's immune system, Humanity is part of Earth so he "Protects" them but it's not like a Superman type relationship.
Titan gets out of line or someone tries fricking with Nature(Mechagodzilla)? Godzilla appears, deals with it and leaves.
Godzilla either assumes Kong released them or knows that they only appeared when Kong was there, thus slaps him through a Pyramid before they team up.
this kino
Rodan is just not consider an asset I guess. But his time will come. And he'll either try to betray Godzilla or maybe try to earn his trust.
KOTM bombed i think legendary is trying to avoid anything thats even slightly invoking KOTM in the movie side of things in otherwords rodan and mothra are screwed over thanks for their first american film outting being such garbage
I'm glad this is just your wishful thinking and not true in any way.
>wishful thinking
dude id want them back too but why else would they be avoiding those two now legendary and Toho clearly are on good terms and could use them if they wanted to its clear they dont want to call back to a film thats considered a failure
And maybe they're saving it for the next movie if there is the next movie but for now I imagine Rodan just enjoying himself because his boss is doing all the job and he can just ignore everything.
i think toho is just being stinky about letting godzilla have a personality that probably explains it
That's an excuse like that he can't bleed (which was proven wrong last year). But what that was actually about was that he can't goof around or do something you wouldn't expect him to do like body language that doesn't suit him. So you probably won't see Godzilla facepalming or rolling his eyes. Although in an IDW comic they did show him rub his neck when it hurt him in a human-like way.
But even Toho must realize that enforcing more when it's a sympathetic portrayal of Godzilla (not like Shin or Earth that are meant to be unknown, almost alien-like entities) enforcing something like that is just impossible and their famous mandates (although I assume at least half of them are made up rumors) get ignored frequently.
>more fans prefer Godzilla
More 'kaiju fans' probably prefer Godzilla but idk if it's the same for mass audiences. Do people think King Kong is some boomer shit now or what.
I think Wingard has a secret agenda to make people prefer Kong over Godzilla and his story how as a kid he used to argue in Godzilla's favor is just smokescreen.
And everyone else thinks you are schizophrenic.
Idiot. He literally said the movie was to fulfill his playground argument as a kid
And he said that Kong got the narrative focus to make up for Godzilla kicking his ass so hard.
But that's also when King Kong 2005 came out, which was popular, and more importantly good, unlike 1976.
>there used to be a sizeable pro-Kong group but thankfully they're really small and aging now
>thankfully
DNA lol
>a darker episode for Kong (like GVK was for Godzilla
KEK
Yeah. Wingard is an ape worshipper. He's not gonna risk it.
Unless he's seen as a hero to the people again then consider most of the world his cheerleaders.
>kongs mess
elaborate are there like creatures coming out of the hole godzilla made in hong kong?
I think it just means that Kong explores Hollow Earth and awakens something (yeah, the plot) so Godzilla has to come downstairs. Or maybe the threat first reaches the surface and when the two finally meet, Godzilla gives him a scolding. Kaiju hazing.
>Here's your mutated Godzilla, bro
Except fleshy bits can't be used as a weapon so this is a downgrade.
I think they're expecting us to believe that they'll harden between this film and the next one, however the description is blatantly of a Miregoji homage (kind of uncreative since there are already MULTIPLE fan designs of a Legendary G2K)
so if this is real are godzillas spines supposed to be based on the miregoji design its not exact but the spikeyness is similar he looks slightly green too
ew, disgusting
Did you also notice how the symbollic skulls of Godzilla and Kong in the teaser are closer in size now? People kept saying that there's no need for a major redesign only a couple tweaks. Next will be making Mothra larger (because last time she rushed her transformation there's a perfect excuse to give her a stronger body next).
Assuming he appeared in the Monsterverse, what way would you want him portrayed? Personally, I'd build him up similarly to how 2014 built up Godzilla but go way weirder and more mysterious.
>Monarch discovers an iceberg floating around with a Titan inside. It's potentially dead going by the complete lack of life signals
>Mysteriously, entire towns start becoming abandoned without any explanation or evidence.
>Intentional reference to "Them!" with a young girl driven insane and cackling about the end of days
>The guys keeping watch on the iceberg and keeping watch for vitals in the middle of the night suddenly get a blip on the heart monitor that rapidly increases in pace
>Nobody is there to see what happened, but they find the iceberg torn open as if something exploded out of it
>Around the same time multiple Titans are found dead, as if something just fricking tore into them and ate the meat off their bones.
>There's also sightings of what appears to be Godzilla, but attacking and outright eating people.
>Now there's sightings of a UFO streaking through the skies, with it's path leaving a trail of bodies, with these Titans
>Gamera does show up constantly throughout the movie, but usually in shadow or only partially revealed.
>The reason why there isn't much visual evidence is due to a combination of lacking survivors and the fights being so destructive they level almost all Monarch recording equipment
>Movie is not a monster action thing, at least until the last 20 minutes, wherein it's pure fighting for nearly half an hour straight, and is instead a thriller/mystery about people trying to figure out what's going on with how minimal information is.
I feel like making him work in mysterious yet benevolent ways would work super well. IMPLY he’s got a higher goal but that’s it
>Then when Gamera saves some kids, Monarch realizes that it’s one of the smartest Titans to date
is he a fricking joke to you?
What about him? He's not that sharp to be honest. Always confused by everything.
People probably think that Mothra is but what if Rodan was actually the smartest. He's just really above it all and a dick but feels he's the only sane one.
One of
If Gyaos shows up, there needs to be an endless barrage of OH SHIT moments as the situation just keeps getting worse.
I would like to see Gyaos go back to his Showa counterpart a bit. More vampire like, about Gamera’s size, more of the original design.
I don't think there's a single movie where Gyaos wasn't bigger
Most of the Gyaos in GOTU minus Super
Gamera 3
The Brave
Hyper Gyaos were bigger than Super Gyaos actually. Which makes it all the more hilarious that he was mowing through them.
You know personally I’m just taking these synopses with a grain of salt until more stuff comes out and the movie.
Same
Most of it is pretty much confirmed with at least two sources. It still doesn't tell us the entire movie and I don't really feel it's all bad. maybe a little disappointing that Godzilla has to fight for every crumb of attention that Kong gets.
So what's up with this? Is it just a cool visual effect or something else?
We are getting Godzilla Singular Point Season 2 boys! Its called "Impetus" and the plot is "Four years after Godzilla appeared, an Indian company completes a new being from the first version of the monster, and has invented a weapon to get complete control and understanding of the multiverses (or something). However, after the red dust releases more Rodan worldwide, a few attack the location one gets in the weapon becoming super powerful"
>omg guys let me join your discussion and change the topić to... Gamera
>what if he was literally Godzilla except the best, strongest fastest, smartest, most beloved
>when he's not on screen other characters would ask "I wonder what Gamera is doing right now"
>seeing all this, Godzilla would kneel before him and hand him his crown saying "I'm not worthy"
>hmm they are talking too much about godzilla and kang or whatever the monkey is called..
>I know, I'll just make a shitty question to "promote discussion " and start talking about my gamera headcanon
How exactly is Gamera not going to be one of the smartest ones if you’re looking at him still protecting kids and curbing his damage? Genuinely curious.
Gamera take my queen too, please.
Godzilla's hand gets skeletonized and supposedly it's still scarred in the next movie but I didnn't notice.
Pardon me but did I get autocorrected into writing down charity instead of character? You get the idea
Legendary is purging the leaks and this place is typically unaffected.
The moment someone starts purging leaks you know it's legit
Funny, anyways who do we got for good stuff
So I heard the novel of Rebirth is going to be released in Japan in August. So it might not spoil the plot all things considered
If the Singular Point novel is any indication it's not like anyones going to give enough of a damn to translate it.
Yeah but the plot should at least be enough.
They’re also mentioning no something about 100,000 years ago
>Spacegodzilla is said to possess genius level IQ
>still gets outsmarted by an eartling dinosaur who figures out his weak point
Is he like a regular dude who sometimes has a genius eureka moment-tier?
Godzilla Kaiju often have a lot of shit said about them that proves to be fricking bullshit
Here is concept art for the new monster in GxK
This is either AI art or bullshit
It looks like Dall-E Mini
I'd be surprised if film studios weren't already using AI for concept art.
Thing is these AIs are very poor in their knowledge of Kaiju in general.
It was supposed to be whiter and more icy.
Fake and gay, now post your bussy.
Bruh, this looks more real than that bs
You are still gay, post your bussy.
Holly shit, this is real, look at the name and date!
No it fricking isnt this came with an outdated plot leak that was debunked you stupid moron.
Its just higher effort than the AI pic
Found this mildly interesting, it’s titled Godzilla vs the flying saucers and apparently they’re supposed to be the ones from the harryhausen flick even though they don’t look like them, could be completely wrong however but i just liked to share this. From the mid 60s since ultraman’s name can be seen below. Wonder if they’re is anymore like this because I once saw magazine artwork of kappa’s fighting the metaluna mutant from “This island earth”
Is there a specific moron shitting up this thread with his similarly cringe posts, or am I just paranoid?
Which ones?
I dunno. Some at the beginning of the thread about Gamera, others with some leak shit. I don't wanna say without feeling moronic.
>Some at the beginning of the thread about Gamera, others with some leak shit
That's the gamerautist, and also OP, welcome to his circus of madness. He thinks this is his domain and his only so he constantly tries to shift discussion around by asking all sorts of asinine questions or just to endlessly bump his shitty kaiju thread.
>so he constantly tries to shift discussion around by asking all sorts of asinine questions or just to endlessly bump his shitty kaiju thread.
That's it. That' and Gamerautist is what I was noticing. I'm glad I'm not going crazy. Thanks, fren. Have a Goj.
OP here its two morons actually Gamerautist and >21973735 being the Kaijurager who seethes anger whenever a kaiju thread appears and is extremely schizophrenic and insist everyone who makes a kaiju thread is Gamerautist despite Gamerautist having specific traits and typing mannerisms such as hating Gamera rebirth and shilling his fanfic and has insisted i am the Gamerautist despite the obviously different typing style and the fact i have told Gamerautist to shut up multiple times.
tldr: two super autist morons shitting up the threads.
>thread literally about gamera
>constantly bumping the thread with dumb questions about gamera
>oh no that's actually somebody else lol
>resorting to same gayging
>everyone who post about gamera is the same person
unironically go frick yourself schizo
Wut
Which one?
it's from around Guardian Of The Universe, I got it at some comics shop that knew exactly nothing about what they were selling around a quarter century ago, got theatrical posters for Adieu 999 and one of the Yamatos, I think Final for five bucks each, a sales pamphlet to hype 999 TV for American markets, and also this random Gamera comic, all around the same price.
Flipping through it, seems that monsters happen, Gamera rises from the depths, and then some Kenny goes full Daisaku to his Giant Robo for reasons against some butthole in a cape
Shit, that sounds like a fun and corny read. I'm guessing it's the Dark Horse then. Good on you for getting some nice finds, too. I miss me some old school comic shops.
not the Dark Horse thing (although I'm pretty sure I have the singles of that around here), this is a Japanese comic. Very kiddie stuff. a lot longer
You don't need to do shit with those
On the slight chance you're not lying, frick you anyways lol.
there's also me being too busy at work to take crappy cell phone pics of that gamera comic, that's an important part too
So what’s with the third eye?
Certain lizards have three eyes. Might be a play on that or something. That or he spent some time with the monks in Tibet.
I reallllllly hope they bring back the BONE ZONE
>TFW the Kaijurager and the gameraautist are duking it out
All our threads questions and problems have been solved
Unless Gamera beats Viras by spinning I'm not watching it.
Have you heard about the newly discovered Perucetus?
He's a biggun
HE'S FAT
is this one of those Rape Manatees that I've been hearing so much about lately?
>Inverse Fairy Fetish
>TFW this is how you discover the newest discovery of what may have been the heaviest animal to have lived on earth and very much a true kaiju sized being
Incredible
Gayest shit ever
Frick off shill.
I'm directly mocking this garbage
>y-yeah I'm totally mocking by advertising his (my) video haha
Frick off shill.
Why are Gamera fans so insecure? Can't they just praise movies like normal people?
The Heisei trilogy sucks anyways
It's good but no one can praise it like normal people it's always like
THE TIME GAMERA SHOWED GODZILLA HOW IT'S DONE!!!! BEST MONSTER MOVIES IN HISTORY OF CINEMA!!! BETTER THAN ANY GODZILLA!!!! BY THE WAY GODZILLA GOT BTFO SO HARD WHICH IS WHY I MENTION HIM EVERY TIME I TALK ABOUT GAMERA
It's unwarranted praise
Good kaiju cinematography was a breath of fresh air at the time with how increasingly bland Kawakita's effects sequences got after Ghidorah.
>Good
No
I wouldn't even notice that if Higuchi didn't start shitting on Kawakita in public (and now it's him who rides on the back of his earlier successes) other than the space battle in Godzilla vs.
I disagree
I mean in the sense that the Heisei Gamera fights are very poorly done. They don't feel like they're kicking each other's asses enough
I don't really remember the fights but I know that the hypest moment in all of the movies doesn't involve fighting but getting to the battlefield.
And? I just feel the Heisei Godzilla fights were better because the characters really felt like they were exchanging blows
I honestly think the Heisei trilogy would've improved if it made it's monsters way more powerful and destructive because it would better suit the apocalyptic narrative.
Only posting here because some time ago someone mentioned some gay Godzilla short and there's a follow up.
>One thing I’d like to get off my chest before deleting is that Toho did endorse my Coming Out short (and I’ll ride that forever) but it was a calculated PR move and the communication around it has left me feeling used:
>They’d emailed me suggesting that there was work for me with them, making stop motion for their socials, and then asked if they could post my short.
>To this day the only $ I’ve gotten from that short are from you lovely people who have sent me tips, or from queer film festivals offering screening fees (always ONLY the queer and Trans run ones)
>I obviously still love Godzilla and am happy for the experience but - this is a reminder that no matter what, corporations don’t care about you, and if you’re an artist of any kind you neeeeeeed to have a contract laying out terms and ASK FOR A FEE if a brand wants your art
I have no idea what that b***h's problem is but here it is. Some of you might be interested in how it ended.
In other words
>I’ve reached out once or twice to say “hey since you posted that could you say Trans Rights or something cuz your Trans fans could use a little support” and I got left on read.
Oh, that shit
Honeslty can’t wait for a nuke to happen to these trannies who rule the Godzilla fandom (like MF for example)
Except they didnt that was just the american godzilla twitter account none of tohos japanese accounts ever posted the short
But anyways get fricked lmao.
The fricking arrogance of some people
>Bandai backs out of appealing to dykes with recent gwitch statement
>Toho cuts off contact with Trooner after their grooming short got reposted on an official account
Seems jap companies are wising up realizing that trying to appeal to mentally ill psychopaths is a bad thing in the long run.
Did you expect a troony not to be an extreme narcasist anon.
Jeez and I thought the fans who made conspiracy theories over gore were insufferable
ITS REALLY HAPPENING BROTHERS, SEASON 2 OF SINGULAR POINT IS REAL
https://twitter.com/EnJoeToh/status/1683998068855963651
Awww yeah
The director acknowledged the screenwriter's Tweet on Singular Point season 2, confirming Toho knows of the tweet bros!
I just found this out
