Yes, the first time watching this in cinema i literally shat my pants
This and speed racing scene are only reason why watch Ep1 again. Too bad this fight scene is interupted all the time. Better watch it on yt. But Maul was great villian.
None of the lightsaber fights are any good, but yes, this one is technically the 'best'.
What are some good sword duel scenes in cinema then?
Troy, despite being a shit movie, has some great sword fights. Hero and Crouching Tiger are also really good. The Duelist is okay but overrated. I have a soft spot for The Princess Bride mainly because it's the funniest sword duel in a movie.
Lol hell no.
Provide a candiate.
why do girls capitalize "LOL" as if it's a word?
There are no girls on Cinemaphile. And I didn't capitalize it. My phone did because it was the start of the sentence.
>phoneposting
so you are a girl. breasts or gtfo
Nah I just have a life and don't spend all day on the computer.
what is your life? Posing action figures and caring for your reptiles? Frick you you goddamn disapointment.
you don't even have a computer you phoneposting zoomer scum
You better change your attitude motherfricker
ok anons, be honest! you make the söy face every time Grievous does the spin... at that moment the opponent knows theyre fricked
and for that Grievous' 4x saber tactic is the coolest
im trans btw
4 arms and it was pretty much useless
Nah
>4 minutes of needlessly twirling lightsabers
>then 4 minutes of rope swinging across lava
lol these 'films' are for children, right?
>I only allow myself to enjoy films of old people talking in dimly lit rooms
You seem like a fun guy
there's fun and then there's childish banalities (You)
I'm an adult who prefers adult movies.
name a few
Once Upon a Time in the West
Brief Encounter
Dog Day Afternoon
In a Lonely Place
The King of Comedy
>adult
I think you meant "pensioner"
You're right, anon. I should abandon all that and go see Disney's Wish right away.
star wars isnt for kids, it's predominantly for adolescents. adults can enjoy it too because it touches on mature themes as well
Whatever cope you need to tell yourself at night.
>star wars isnt for kids
Not according to George Lucas
Do they ship that one on VHS?
so you're just posturing for an adult image
no shit
literally only people who were ten when prequels came out pretend they were anything but garbage
>are for children
Yes, always have been. I've never understood why anyone says that like it's some sort of knock against Star Wars. It's always been a teenager and younger aimed franchise since day one. It's why the pioneering efforts in film to toy mass marketing has worked so well. It just happens to have adult fans too. Most of them having grown up watching star wars
But it's never going to be this R rated Alien/Aliens sort of adult themed Sci-fi.
>a movie made for 15 year olds and a movie made for 10 years are both kids movies chud
The first one was, the other two were for nobody apparently
I think on a technical standpoint this one and Maul are at a pretty equal level. But Mustafar had much higher stakes with it being our two protagonists fighting each other and the winner being the one who didn't want to fight in the first place. Pyrrhic victory type thing. And a much better setting with lava spouts erupting and the entire mining area collapsing. As far as epic duels in Star Wars this one is the peak
ruined by the shitty cgi moving platforms
You do realize that about half of that fight is shot in extreme closeups of the actors' faces while they're wildly swinging their sabers in a random fashion, right?
Why do people like this fight at all? The lack of coordination between the two Jedi is painfully obvious.
Yes. John Williams peaked with Duel of the Fates.
it was literally what everyone have been waiting for up to that point
E6: Vader v Luke > Anakin v Obi mustafar the alternative version that the stunt guy put on YouTube > Vader Luke Bespin > Palp v Yoda > Obi Anakin mustafar > Anakin v Dooku the alternative version the stunt guy put up > duel of the fates > who cares
Tbh I’ll give it to Disney, Ben Kenobi against Maul on tattooine is the best one while Throne room Vader vs Luke is the most important one.
rewatching it now it was just so corny lmao
perhaps the last bit between obi wan and maul alone is better
Nope
There are no good lightsaber fights in the franchise.
if you are a sub-80-iq jock perhaps
what is the context here?
watch till the end zoomie
no
You mean the best expressionist dance performance, right?
count dooku in episode 3 for me
Rey v Palpatine
For me, it's Anakin vs Ventress.
Which one
Both are great. That one is cool though since that's how Anakin gets his scar.
Luke vs. floating training globe
yeahhhh buddy!
They all sucked. Literally every lightsaber fight is full of moronic spins, obvious pauses, swings at nothing (ie even if it hadn’t been blocked it wouldn’t have connected with anything), and clumsy footwork. Like in this fight, if you just watch Obi-Wan or Qui-Gonn individually, you’ll notice the choreography starts breaking down. The pace is right, but the coordination just isn’t there.
I have never seen a satisfying lightsaber duel. The ones in Ahsoka were so bad I literally turned off my computer and screamed into my pillow for several minutes. I accidentally grabbed my cumpillow at first too so I had that shit on my mouth until I realized after a few seconds.
Frick Star Wars.
