Eeeeh I don’t know it’s a pretty dated idea of hippie girls, as much as I like John K his sexuality is old-school.

Wtf happened anyway? I'm always baffled as to how a show goes from wanting to be visually appealing, to almost looking like it's TRYING not to be
      Like WTF had to happen?

I swear I'm starting to think people have some kinda derangement towards John K recently, what happened? Is there a leak somewhere where people fume about him, and they're coming to Cinemaphile?

He’s become a tired old thing. Ren and Stimpy and a lot of his work are great, he’s got some great ideas about how people should be animating, but it’s all become a more tired version of Mad Magazine, the last generation’s idea of parody and silliness, losing its youth. Not to say all modern work is necessarily better, but guys, it’s not youthful and fresh anymore to do Josie and the Pussycats or pinups or hippie rocker girls in a van with a flower painted on it, who are literally 65 years old today. It’s not about sexuality being good or bad, it’s about an old man doing it using a sense of fun and libido that he’s still borrowing from 1975. Just dull at this point

          Or pinups of*
Pinups are still good but there’s a distinct difference between a pinup and a vintage pinup.

Ok but I didn't ask that
          I literally do not care
I asked why I seem to have to hear about him all day every day in every possible thread that doesn't relate to him in the slightest, outside of the 2-3 designated daily threads about the man

I thought this was a thread you started about his company’s cartoon pitch

            Not safe for /co/ screencaps

Virtually every cartoon being made relates to John K in various ways such as the production system, individual crew members, drawing style, and cliches. This betrays your true interest

Nah it’s not just new good old bad, but things do get aged and this plays a factor in what’s flirtatious or sexy to a new generation. Works lose youth, and there’s a point where Playboy is no longer a badass sex magazine run by a 27-year old badass, and it becomes an old conservative sex magazine for 70 year olds with a ‘blonde fetish’. It’s not just about sexuality and what’s attractive (plenty of that is timeless), but it’s actually about aesthetic and style.
            > Why is everyone in the world suddenly so scared of growing old and holding on to their tastes or values?
Oh haha I thought you were talking about this show being successful with kids, you actually mean having the same sexuality and attractions throughout your life as you get older. Yeah, people do that, that’s natural, it just doesn’t mean they’re going to take what you like and try to sell it to kids. I appreciate you wanting new cartoon releases for you your whole life, but yeah John K and spumco are becoming vintage styles for an older type of horn dog. It is what it is

These threads have transitioned to babbling endlessly about porn because they care more about cartoon porn than good cartoons for kids

This thread is literally about a John K cartoon. Blame OP for bringing him up if you want but don’t blame anyone else for talking about what was brought up

I just wanna frick the heartaches, this could’ve been an okay 1 season show with a cult following. An american CGDCT show, with amazing artwork, but we didn’t get that. We got a mediocre watered down superhero show instead

You claim everything new isn't necessarily good, but you're clearly still operating under the notion that newer and younger is good, and old things are bad

Why is everyone in the world suddenly so scared of growing old and holding on to their tastes or values? It's sad how easy it is so convince the modern adult man to part with his beliefs by just saying "boomer boomer old man bad" over and over until he relents, it was never this easy

Because when you turn 24, you become old, grey, and not young anymore. That’s how old I am, I don’t even feel like an adult. I feel like a kid, teen, and adult all at the same time, I’m old

There really is a certain age around 30 where you can stop expecting to be the target audience of any cartoon. That’s not to say it’s right, but it’s to say who are you kidding, if someone made it their business to nurture your sexuality or sense of passion far into adulthood using a cartoon, it would have to be their own prerogative. Certainly not a given

      You are wrong.
But yes, it is unfortunately much less common at that point.

      *Unless you're a woman
If you're a 30 year old female practically the whole industry is currently made for you
No I will not debate, no you can't prove me wrong, but you can try
