Didn't like the movie but I agree the production design was A-tier.
seemed more like they had a suit design first then looked through a pile of movie ideas they could toss it into. That suit could have been in all sorts of movies, space movie, alien shooting movie, etc.
Lack of any real advertising campaign and released in January because Disney just bought Fox and wanted to just dump out its remaining projects. Ironically Underwater is better than anything Disney has released in recent memory.
I watched it for she but it was tedious to sit through despite being short. I admit the start of the movie took me by surprise but even though you might want differentiate your movie from other smilar films there is a reason to show the crew spend some time together first so we get to know them. But that probably wouldn't have helped because they were all unlikable/whatever besides KStew of course. TJ Miller was REALLY obnoxious. The claustrophobic diving suit scenes were just boring to watch because there was nothing to see. The aliens were generic.
What's sad is that the indoor scenes are actually great visually but I guess the director really wanted to distance the movie from Alien.
It sounds like you were on your phone most of the time since they weren't even aliens, literally ancient deep ones awakened by the drilling operation and the movie did a good job of hinting their presence before revealing them.
>Locked in the timeless depths of the sea, their alien and arrogant lives are coldly beautiful, unbelievably cruel, and effectively immortal
you don't have to be from space to be considered an alien, anon. They are technically aliens
This. It was exactly what it needed to be. Also these are hands down the best looking EVA suits in cinematic history.

because it was complete dogshit? I wouldn't be as 'triggered' by your shit taste if you at least had a decent waifu but we're talking about a homeless looking dyke. really sad knowing 90% of this board are so plebian. I don't know where you people come from. are you the same generation that think Twilight and Transformers are 'kino'?
It seemed like it would be right up my alley, but I was extremely disappointed. Just felt very brainless to me. All the attempts to give the characters more depth also felt very clunky.
Just poorly handled all around.
>netflix hit
more like netflix people being so desperate they will watch any >5.0 imdb rated flick netflix releases. Also it's a shit movie and kstew is shit in it. I skipped 78 minutes.
This movie is perhaps Kristen's hottest look for me. So much great fan service too. The girlier K-Stew of the past was a major qt for sure but she's just poor sex in this with her lesbian look with her pits on showl
It took me underwater in a cool way. Most movies are about swimming underwater, this walking through it was an interesting and well done angle. The sea creatures were interesting. Overall a solid 7 for the genre.
Yeah as far as actually making you feel like you're so deep that escape is a remote possibility this actually did a better job than others I've seen (The Abyss, Sphere, etc).
funnily enough only reason i knew it existed was because of Cinemaphile
That's sad, I also only heard about it from tuber reviews like Jahns and Stuckmann (both recommended it).
I had a girlfriend in college my senior year that looked basically like her in this movie. She was perfect, she was a freshman and didn't want to be in her door with her shitty roommate. She stayed over at my apartment and would cook me meals. On weekends she'd wake me up with head. We fricked multiple times a day, I taught her Jiu jitsu and she taught me about rock climbing. Then towards the end of the year she told me she was actually a man, and came out as ftm. Broke up with her. Heart my soul but I'm not fricking some wacko who thinks she is a man. I saw her a year later when I was visiting a friend on campus and she had gained like 50lbs and had a peach fuzz mustache. Life comes at you fast fellas.
Anyways I loved this movie, I think it got shelved because it was originally supposed to be released when TJ miller made bomb threats.
She didn't know if she could kill it and the kill is never confirmed in the movie. She just wanted to save her friends since the deep ones were catching up. Smart movie.

I just thought of something: isn't horror about immersing yourself? I am not a diver so even though I can imagine moving in a suit like this to be cumbersome it's not something I actually experienced.
is that the one where she's in like a submarine in her undies
Looking at her armpits is basically the appeal of the movie, and to be fair it delivered.
>Looking at her bare, wet, feet
ftfy
>flop later becomes a hit
yep i must classify it as kino without having ever watched it
it was a good movie
dunno why it flopped in the first place

They could reuse it for a StarCraft movie and it would fit right in as a marine suit.

Word finally got out about Cthulhu, eh?
more like dagon and this dagon is actually covered with his deep ones.
Name, sister
I liked the movie, should've been R though.

it was a shameless Alien ripoff. The dive suit costumes were cool and that was it.

DEAR SLIM

It was shelved because Disney was in the process of buying Fox and didn't care about any of their non-franchise properties.
No I mean cute tomboy with a bleach blonde buzz cut. Not like kstew you fricking indian. Nice reading comp.
She has a black bf btw
he's a fricking jpg chill
>calling a photograph in the film a "jpg"
WHAT?!
Isn't she gay?
She didn't know if she could kill it and the kill is never confirmed in the movie. She just wanted to save her friends since the deep ones were catching up. Smart movie.
I want to be underwater but instead of salty ocean water it's actually a bathtub filled with kstew's pee.
kek mass replier btfo
i thought it was kino, lovecraft kino
Underwater was good as frick, and the whole cast was pretty great. I want more off-the-nose sci-fi Lovecraft kino.
Intensely erotic movie.
you mean this one?
nice
>implying watchers liked it
I saw Cinemaphile call this kino before and I like sci-fi, guess I'll see it this weekend.
It was kino…i just couldn’t see it
I loved that movie
>Crashing a boat into it
Vs.
>Exploding a nuclear reactor at it
