Hollywood seems to learn this lesson periodically, only to forget it again and again, often during making the thing hey at first claimed to be true to the source.
>be incompetent moron
>still get put into executive positions
>never get fired for fricking up constantly
israeli nepotism really is something else
Incredible really, if you or I were put in charge of $60-70 million dollars and just flushed it down the toilet we'd expect to be answering to some very scary people with baseball bats and cordless drills. At the least we wouldn't expect to keep our job.
That's really nepotism in a nutshell in any closed knit, closed gates society.
Yes but in this case it is israeli nepotism, specifically.
>be incompetent moron
>write an awful original script that you can't sell
>your uncle Moishe Goldstein, bigwig at Netflix HQ, has another anime/video game/whatever project brought up in a board meeting
>him just mentioning you and the fact that you're a writer gets you the job
>change a few names or locations and a bunch of nobodies shoot your awful script for literally millions of people worldwide to see
israeli nepotism really is something else
Not even israeli, just plain nepotism. You see it everywhere right down to the local mcdicks shift managers.
sure
He has a reasonable point
Replied to the wrong post and misinterpreted them entirely. Well done.
>thinks only israelites do this
You're incredibly stupid and the worst crime is thinking you're some visionary.
Kathleen Kennedy is israeli?
With a high enough esg score, you go from cattle to shabbos goy
>moving the goalposts
She is a golem created by Spielberg to do the work they want. They have israelites like her like Amy Pascal but the leaked emails showed just how stupid Amy is. I suspect other israeliteesses are just as stupid and incompetent hence the need for someone with more than 2 brain cells.
thats the entertainment industry in a nutshell, everybody seems to know/cover up for each other
as opposed to false to the source material?
Hey. Netflix did a really good job at being false to the source material for Bebop.
>false to the source material
yes, this a thing
Have you ever heard the wheel of time adaptation? they screw things up so bad your quote is the best way to describe it
literally every single adaption does not follow the source material at all. in fact the studio purposefully hires people that hate the source material.
The halo adaptation

Yes, but next morning she will have photoshop and more makeup while Daphne and Celeste will still be american.

What's with incels and hating on tats
They look like shit homie
It's basically a label you use to tell other people you're A) Are stupid B) Are an asswipe and C) Have STDs.
>What's with incels and hating on tats
You don't put stickers on a fricking Ferrari.
What a shit saying
>some diamond dozen e-thot is a ferrari
why are incels so inconsistent when it comes to their opinions on women? one moment they hate them with every fiber of their being and another they are the biggest pussy pedestal simps in the world begging to sniff a warm chair.
You can literally see her pussy lips

too bad about the ugly tattoos

this is off model. Ed is supposed to be a weird little androgynous kid. costume aside the Netflix adaptation was pretty close.

Might as well fap to 2d girls at this point. Does the younger generation really like this airbrushed weird photoshop bullshit?
Is this person never going to act again or what
Well, if ze's old enough to decide to change zer gender, ze's old enough to be blamed for electing to be in that shite.
Wasn't even the worst part of the show. Vicious and Julia were way more offensive.
He's only in like 1 scene in the entire show, he wasn't the problem.
The issues were too many to count. The biggest to me was how they utterly failed to make any of the characters even a bit like their anime counterparts. Spike goes from a mysterious mercenary to a quipping moron. Jet gets a mixed daughter and white ex wife (of course he does!) for no reason. Faye's a dyke, again, for no reason. Julia goes from a tragic victim of the syndicate to wanting to run it an hurt people for money. Vicious is just moronic. Even the transgender character from the original anime is reduced to a side show freak and stripped of their internal struggle that made them interesting.
Plus it looks like they shot it at Nicolodeon studios with those moronic outfits and oversaturated color.
I honestly don't think they could have fricked it up harder if they tried.
Putting aside the fact that Spike is supposed to be israeli, John Cho is a full two decades too old for the part.
I assumed he was half israelite half japanese.
That's pretty much how it always be. Any anon who say he's full israelite are just assuming so, because of his last name. But Japs love Bong and israelite-sounding names, so you'll see that shit everywhere in anime
He's some sorta German/israeli/Japanese/Martian mutt.
Faye was explicitly Asian though. And for all their harping about casting an Asian lead, seemed to just completely forget that they had an Asian character already.
He was part of some Chinese space mafia, so maybe part Chinese?
He looked white as frick. I could forgive Spike for being a hapa but he looks predominantly european. The chinese mafia wouldn't have a fricking white man in their ranks though I don't think. But then again what the frick was Vicious? I assumed he was just another white man but you know how these asian fricks like their anime. It's always about some random stock Japanese man ending up with a european/white-coded "Japanese" woman.
WOMEN ARE MY FAVORITE GUY.
>I am Calypso and I thank you for playing Twisted Metal
But I thought not saying true to the source material was a good thing and what made Netflix Cowboy Bebop so great?
It is good, you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over. The problem with hollyisraelite is the people who make these things arent fans and therefore dont understand what the ESSENCE of the source material is. There are certain key aspects of any IP that are what people like about it, the other shit they can be flexible on but the KEY ASPECTS of it cant be changed, and every actual fan knows what those aspects are, or it isnt the same fricking thing they like, it is something you are puppetering with its skin on it
>t is good, you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over
same anon, this is what people get tired of with capeshit btw, the same origin story 50 times
No one asked for the Bebop story to be told 50 times. But it should have been ADAPTED properly at least once.
A shot for shot remake would be far better than the shit they produced. Also they need to literally decapitate their awful writers.
The Japanese dub trailer puts a filter on the bad line delivery and writing. It makes it more tolerable which is why Japanese audio is the only way to go when watching anime because it distracts you from how bad the dialogue actually is.
*One Piece trailer
Yeah, essence is really the key component. You can even change characters, but need to keep the essence in tact.
Conan the Barbarian is a good example of this. It's not a great adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Conan as a character, but it is great adaptation of his style and the world he created. So while not necessarily a great Conan movie, it is a great Howard movie and capturing this was something the sequels and reboots have failed to achieve.
>You can even change characters
NO. People who think like you are the reason we have so many divershitty race swaps today
I usually point to this as an example of an adaptation, or in this case a translation, that is not a *literal* translation but it is a *true* one, and the kind of 'essence' that adaptations should aim to achieve (though of course this is not always possible):
>In his 1869 French rendering of Alice in Wonderland, Henri Bué found a uniquely felicitous way to translate a pun. Here’s the original:
>‘If everybody minded their own business,’ the Duchess said in a hoarse growl, ‘the world would go round a deal faster than it does.’
>‘Which would not be an advantage,’ said Alice … ‘Just think what work it would make with the day and night! You see the earth takes twenty-four hours to turn round on its axis –‘
>‘Talking of axes,’ said the Duchess, ‘chop off her head.’
>Bué couldn’t reproduce the pun using the French word for ax (hache), but he came up with this:
>‘Si chacun s’occupait de ses affaires,’ dit la Duchesse avec un grognement rauque, ‘le mond n’en irait que mieux.’
>‘Ce qui ne serait guère avantageux,’ dit Alice … ‘Songez à ce que deviendraient le jour et la nuit; vous voyez bien, la terre met vingt-quatre heures à faire sa révolution.’
>‘Ah! vous parlez de faire des révolutions!’ dit la Duchesse. ‘Qu’on lui coupe la tête!’
Or, with some minor artistic license on my part: "Ah! Speaking of revolutions," said the Duchess, "cut off her head!"
>In The Astonishment of Words, Victor Proetz writes, “Here Bué — with a stroke of wizardry and judgment which, in this instance, is not translation by word, but translation by change of word — has instantaneously transformed a witty English idea in its entirety into a perfectly parallel, equally witty French idea. And when ‘the Duchess’ changes into ‘la Duchesse,’ the axe, by association, becomes a guillotine.”
Good shit
>It is good, you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over.
Sure. Original content is preferable to the endless cycle of revivifying and cycling through 20-30+ year old IP.
>the people who make these things arent fans
>the KEY ASPECTS of it cant be changed
Oh, you're just moronic. Sorry. Tell your parents I said there were brave and doing a good job keeping you safe from those sharp corners on the swingset.
>calls someone else moronic
>can't write proper english
Listen mate I'm not that anon but you played yourself
>It is good, you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over
Ok but how about we got a faithful adaptation even once and THEN explored the essence of the series with new stories?
>you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over
Then make new IPs instead of taking perfectly fine pre-existing IPs to "subvert" them.
>but the KEY ASPECTS of it cant be changed,
Point is key aspect of anime and manga is visual art.
Live action can't replicate such art, 2D > 3D. It is known.
>you dont want the same stories rehashed over and over
except it's the first time
and plenty of people aren't familiar with the tranime versions
when adapting work that hasn't been adapted recently, you need to capture the core element of whatever made the original work. if you ignore or discard it, you're setting yourself up for failure as you'll piss off the original work's fans and unlikely to capture new fans
It's not supposed to be good
>fans-are-expecting-you-to-be-true-to-the-source-material
What a shock. Who could've even imagined that's what they wanted?
Checked and true. Hollywood gays need to be homeless, theres literally no connection between them and their audiences anymore. If there ever was.
I honestly wonder how hollywood even exists sometimes
Money laundering?
He’s not wrong. But One Piece may be too crazy. Dragon Ball is crazy but you can kind of make it work.
Not really. The problem is their insistence on adaptions. Animated shows are not meant to be live action.
There's plenty of manga that could be adapted into live-action with absolutely no problems.
No I agree with that, but it's not 1:1 and the most marketable animated shows are going to have elements that just don't work in live action. Gurren lagan, one piece, dragon ball, all work BECAUSE they're animated. You can make the argument for stuff like parasite, or LotGH but it's obvious which ones I'm talking about. Or I feel like it should be, but they keep fricking it up.
You ever seen Dick Tracy? That's an adaptation of a comic with extremely cartoonish designs and it works wonderfully. Or I think it does anyway, everyone doesn't agree.
There's cartoonish then there's cartoonish. One Piece is the later. It doesn't even pretend to be based on human proportions for some characters.
So this is a universe where giant, morbidly obese demons run around?
Yes, but he's actually a normal human and his insane physique isn't commented on nor abnormal.
Anon, this is a universe where this exists
That dude isn't even particularly weird by One Piece standards.

I imagine oda googling "animal with the hardest kicks" to fit his idea "kicking so hard it cuts" and finding giraffes at first place
then laughing while trying to make it work
All is well
>Bible
so they had their own Jesus Christ in One Piece?
No, it was our Jesus. One Piece is set on another planet in far distant future when mankind has colonized the stars.
Or something.
speedreader here, what chapter was this?
Enel cover story
A cover during Thriller Bark
That thing in the back must be fricking huge, like sea king size
Yes
Christianity is a thing in one piece
even satanism exist
Tin tin can be adapted to live action, the phantom can be adapted to live action, Asterix should not be adapted to live action, bone should not be adapted to live action. Does this color the picture for you yet?
I liked the asterix movie about cleopatra
I don't like the gags. They don't work well in live action. It's my least favorite part of who killed Rodger rabbit and I love that movie
I've seen multiple Asterix movies and I've liked them, not sure what your problem is.
I say it here
It just feels uncanny for me. Like Luffy stretching his arms in the trailer
Tintin wasn't live action, it was an uncanny looking CGI movie. Still pretty good for what it was though.
One Piece leans heavily into cartoon physics. It's like trying to make live action Animaniacs.
I can't imagine the live action not triggering the uncanny valley effect, and be off putting because of it.
still worth a drunk pirate imo, maybe even the high quality versions (thanks yify!)
Something like the Masks does show it can be done in live action as well, it's just a question of how and in what kind of a movie. Hell, even Who Framed Roger Rabbit showed there's no real obstacle in mixing live action and cartoon physics, it's just a question how to do it.
Spawn worked, also the mask
Live action Violator was perfection
Yeah, this is totally the same thing
A live action LotGH would actually have the potential to be better than the anime(which I feel is kind of sloppy in places anyway, animation's kind of stiff, direction is kind of dry, far too many characters who look almost exactly the same). Just having some good actors on screen would bring that whole thing to life a lot more.
Code word there being "good" of course.
I know, the costuming itself would be kino. Dune almost had that feel I've been watching 50s British movies to scratch that itch until then
A lot of talk about the Bebop remake here atm. Here's the review I did last year, if anyone is interested/hasn't seen it already (warning: bong accent): https://youtu.be/Erb2x5SQHd8
>fans are expecting you to be true to the source material
Well, yes, but the implication there is that they really wanted to please the fans and were just trying something new, and unfortunately it didn't work out. Bullshit. They deliberately ruined just about every aspect of the source material, failed to tell coherent, let alone compelling, stories, and treated the whole thing as a vehicle for leftist propaganda/demoralisation. All while yammering about their immense love and respect for the original, as they always do.
>A live action LotGH
Please, God, no. You think Hollywood could present a mostly Germanic, non-democratic reformist regime that's not pure evil? Or honestly depict the corruption and hypocrisies of a failing democracy, with the criminalisation of free speech, the outlawing of protests, the use of war as a means of retaining power etc? Or permit any show to feature a shadowy group of merchants secretly pulling the strings and benefitting from pitting nations against each other?
>gangsta rap plays while black Yang destroys some racist old white guy's fleet by throwing flaming asteroids at it or something
Starring Ben Kingsley as Adrian Rubinsky
Part of me kind of does want to see it, because it could be hilarious. But somehow I doubt they'll ever do it, because it would draw more eyes to the original - and the changes they'd have to make would be glaring.
Just because they would frick it up, doesn't mean it couldn't be very good in theory.
True. *In theory*, a live-action LotGH could be pure kino. But if Hollywood were making it, there's zero chance it would be.
Who do you think that can make kino adaption of Monster. Suppose the casts are perfect.
Guillermo del Toro was supposed to do it for HBO YEARS ago but like everything else that fat frick touches he just gave up on it
Never read it but the show is just boring filler after a while.
My pic related, your pic unrelated because a major twist was that Johan could perfectly imitate his sister and take her place
PGSM proves you wrong. So does the Cutey Honey movie.
Unless you're giving it an avatar budget you're going to be forced to humanize shit, and I doubt that'll go well.
I don't think there's a single popular manga that would be worse to make into live action.
I mean shit, going through the list of manga with >100 million copies sold (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_manga) and Naruto is the only one that comes close. I would argue the movement in Attack on Titan would be very hard to transfer into live action too.
they haven't learned that anime shit doesn't work in live action
You underestimate the amount of goycattle in existence who will watch it anyway
Dipshit, it's because live action adaptations are necessarily created differently than duh favorite animu that gets rabid fans' panties in a wad. Live action adaptations are rarely ever good when treated exactly like anime. That's how you wind up with all the actors looking like stupid fking cosplayers instead of a reimagining the works better for live action.
>no open sandals

>Well Buddha actually never said that, it was all something I made up
>It's original and creative
>What do you mean you could definitely tell I didn't read the source material?
>I specifically said that Buddha said that
>Well the way I wrote MY version of Buddha it's something he would totally say
>Whatever, you're probably just racist and sexist against me
>What do you mean you're calling campus security?
who hurt you?
My philosophy prof because I literally did this when I was 19
Yeah since you clearly misunderstood the assignment and misquoted Buddha in a paper strictly about Buddhism. It was not a loosely structured creative writing assignment nor did you have the artistic license to completely make up quotes or imagine totally new scenarios as writers for live action adaptations are given.
Correct
there's literally 0 chance this show is good
Where do they recruit these actors? Designated shitting slums in the Philippines?
He doesn't look bad but people don't like it because he is Mexican or something, it is doa.
haha this time it wont be shit your eating from the slop trough stream piggy xisters we swear XD
The next biggest problem is live action anime just tends to look stupid and garish, and half of the appeal of anime is that it's animated in the first place. I don't know who they think these shows are for.
Don't believe Cinemaphile tourists that there's no good live action anime.

Didn't Cowboy Bebop get universal praise too until actual audiences got to see it?
Of course it did.
I am not going to defend or watch this shit, but CB, to be fair, had negative reaction even from most of the usual suspects.

Making you mad is benefit enough to me.
I'm not mad, you're just a dumbass

I would think someone would have to have low observational skills if they don't keep their expectations low for something like this.

I wish we could go back to the days where shit like this got announced and never actually made. Looks fricking terrible. And the creator has already forced them to redo scenes
They got cute boys as leads so that's a good start
Are you blind?
I honestly can't wait for the absolute seething on Cinemaphile if it's revealed to actually be good.
They are both relentlessly handsome.
If you're a homosexual
Trying to adapt cartoon physics to real life always results in cringe, but at least Cowboy Bebop wasn't full of too much animeshit outside of Edward nonsense so it could've been adapted without too much cringe if it had've been in the hands of competent creators. One Piece is the epitome of animeshit and there is absolutely no one to adapt to live action or even CGI without it looking like complete and utter garbage. At least livea action Bebop had a potential audience, I have no idea who the frick they think is going to like One Piece But Without Any Of The Anime Appeal.
Reminder what the crew actually look like. Don't let them gaslight you with their bullshit about how accurate the cast is.

Positive reviews that are floating around are full of shills trying to get in Netflix's good graces
Just looking at the profile pic of that Twitter poster...yuck. Why would anyone even value his opinion?
Why has Netflix not figured out that when you try to do a live-action version of an anime it just comes off as cringe?
You lose the weeb audience because they specifically want to watch a superior 2d cartoon version of your subject matter. You lose the normie audience because they don't get or want to get anime. I don't want to watch this because I can just watch anime instead, and my boomer mom doesn't want to watch it because she hates anime. Who is this shit for? There's no target audience.
The only way you could maybe pull this off is to cast 100% Japanese actors who can actually pull off anime mannerisms IRL because they inadvertently do it all day in an unironic fashion. When you cast poos and whites it just doesn't feel right.
You can't dress up an actual human like Luffy or Spike and be 100% accurate when it comes to the costume and then have them do ridiculous CGI anime shit in every scene. It wrecks any immersion you might go into it with. Either do a dark, gritty, realistic version or just do a cartoon. Even Snyder DC movies don't look as ridiculous as this and make an effort to not make the costumes as colorful and cartoonish because at least they know what they're playing with.
Could you imagine someone trying to play an intimidating live action Lex Luthor if he were dressed up in this fruity little number?
The audience for it is nerd-normies. Those who watch twitch streams, use discord and vrchat all day, play the latest AAA slop, go to cosplays and cons, etc.
>learned
>respects source
lmao not a fricking chance
Tranimeslop will never be a thing no matter how hard they try
Ah DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
you don't have to be true to the source material if you merely say you're inspired by it and don't try to sell it as a replacement.
why does luffy look like he's 30.
It wasn't that it wasn't true, it was that it looked like a bad cosplayer fan flick
If they had cared at all about that lesson, they would have picked up on it from anyone talking about any movie based on any source material ever.
>be japan

That is one ugly Luffy though. I always thought of him as Chinese or something with his straight black hair and almond eyes.
Why doesn't anyone understand that anime isn't something that can be adapted onto live-action. Anime is made by Japs and it has stylistic elements that only their hive-mind mentality and autism understand. The way their characters emote is so fricking forced that hammy and stilted doesn't even describe it.
You do realize anime is popular all across the world?
Because it's cheap fricking entertainment doodled by bugs. I admit I watched that shit when I was in grade school on Toonami because I didn't know any better. I didn't know it was made in Japan and thought it was just a cartoon. Now I know and 2 nukes weren't enough because anime is fricking cancer for spawning weebs.
this is how you do an anime/manga adaption
netflix has always fricked up with being too close to the source material, trying to re-create cartoon physics, impractical costumes, world building or lack of that makes the live action aspect feel completely out of place
But All You Need is Kill was a novel, not anime or manga.
there is a manga adaption of the novel, the point is they just adapted the story not the designs or anything else
Idiot, this isnt a manga anime adaptation. It just a japanese novel just like bullet train was
What we could've got.
What will robin look like? I am already dissapointed.
you guys are looking too hard at her boobs, their faces are pig disgusting
How gay are you?
One of the main problems with this show is that the backgrounds all look like CGI even if they aren't. The actors always look out of place
I personally don't like 1:1 adaptations. I think there are segments in anime that are possibly so well done that keeping to the original for the most part is preferable, but there are other segments and even parts of the story that scream for a different approach. Live action and animation are so different that there are styles that are more suited to each medium which makes adaptations interesting. I enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop adaptation for what it is. I enjoyed the other angles from which the story was told. I'm less likely to enjoy an adaptation that's a copy/paste of the original despite the original having existed for decades yet somehow inspires no originality or nuance with a new adaptation. Try to be original, compelling, take the concepts already introduced in the original, and try to tell the story from a different perspective while keeping to what makes the original so appealing.
Everyone already told them that before they finished filming bebop
>Doesn't star a white man
>not watching it
Simple as
Why is that a lesson that needs to be learned?
>making Julia an evil mastermind and Vicious her cuck slave
People bag on the frumpy Hispanic and grandpa spike and whatnot but this is what gets me. It cannot functionally be anything close to the actual story because that doesn't make any sense. It is so baffling and I know the decision to do it came entirely from a whim from one of those c**ts "uhhh this Julia woman kinda seems like a damsel, frick those sexist pigs she's gonna be a girlboss!"
and that's the entirety of their storyplanning and thought process
Oldboy is based on a manga, but it changes almost everything from the manga. It sounds to me like this is a case of whether you're making an adaptation for the same audience as the original work, or if you're trying to make an adaptation for a new audience.
No Gaimon no watch.
was he some anime filler character? don't remember him in the manga
Nope he was in the manga too, he was just forgettable

who else will fail for the blackwashing?
Usopp's mom was the only other negrification i saw
Lucky Roo
they can't keep getting away with it!
>Jango is a Black
Well he was based on Michael Jackson and he was black, so it makes sense.
go and watch the japanese dubbed trailer, is the only way to watch this thing
It actually does make it more watchable, but the lip sync gets old.
As always seiyuus carrying shows on their shoulders.
It sounds like shit and looks unnatural.
It's only good because it reminds you of something you like, that is if you liked the anime.
You don't have to be true to the source material in the sense that it is a 1:1 adaptation. You do have to respect the lore and none of these filthy swine have shown they even know how to read. It will come out that this israelite didn't even flip a single page of the manga. It's just old hat to even complain about it. It's just slop for braindead normies made by braindead israelites.
Did they ever find the One Piece?
Someone did.
Mihawk looks good
I love Cowboy Bebop and I don't care if they're faithful in content, they just have to follow the general spirit of it and propose something fresh. The adaptation was poorly written, it's comically terrible at times, acting was way over the top and they seem to have completely missed the nuances of the origina material.
In comparaison Foundation is also pretty bad, but the original Empire storyline is excellent, because it mixes the original content with some new ideas like cloning which isn't the books.
We just expect things to not suck in general really.
>I don't care if they're faithful in content, they just have to follow the general spirit of it and propose something fresh
Yeah, that's called fanfiction. No one is fricking interested in on-screen fanfiction unless it was building on the established universe or like adding scenes to express a clearer/better idea of the themes the episode would demonstrate. That would be cool. Like, a flashback scene showing the Heavy Metal Queen and her legendary bounty hunter husband for context. Shit like that.
What's the point of doing the same old Cowboy Bebop in live action? There's no way to translate the pacing and energy, if I want to see Cowboy Bebop, I watch Cowboy Bebop.
It's not for you, it's for people who have grown up into actual adults and don't watch cartoons lol
Because they dont make these live actions for you, they make these live actions for normies.
Fans don't want you to adapt this shit in the first place.
Hell no.
CB was "easy" enough to adapt in theory, and they still fricked it up.
One Piece is probably one of the hardest things to do right and I'm supposed to care after they fricked up every single live action anime that was easy to adapt?
Frick off. I'm only looking forward to laugh at the people saying it's was great. Just like with CB apologists.
>CB apologists.
Those exist?
>I COULDN'T POSSIBLY RUN AROUND WEARING SHORTS
>THE MOST COMFORTABLE AND EASY TO WEAR ATTIRE
>NO I CAN'T POSSIBLY DO STUNTS LIKE THIS 🙂
They didn't learn a motherfricking thing.
>Tattoo
im fairly certain latrinas are literally born with shitty tattoos
Remember when they said they couldn't use the same costume for Faye because it looked terrible? Yeah about that.
Oh, I remember. They took the prominent aspect of Faye Valentine everyone with eyes and a brain can see and insisted that it would be impossible to replicate. You know, for all those stunts that Faye is known for doing. And because, god, it'd be impossible for her to even MOVE in such a "goofy" looking outfit. Then you point out that cosplayers knock that shit out of the park without multi-million dollar budgets to back them and you get a ingenuousness "argument" thrown back at you in the form of
>Well, cosplayers aren't actors!
Or the equally moronic
>Well, try doing *stunts* in cosplay!
...It's articles of clothing and an application of make-up with styled hair. I feel like these morons call basic exercise "stunts" to try and legitimize it but it's all moronic. So, so moronic.
She didn't even do any stunts in the show. The only reason they even had her character is so they could lesbian her up with an ORINIGAL CHARACTER DONUT STEEL.
Exactly. Faye was turned into a fricking fanfiction character. The morons who "adapted" this series didn't like how Faye is essentially a pretty mid bounty hunter who uses her wiles and charms and blatant sex appeal to open doors Spike and the others can't. She isn't this super capable girlboss and if she was she wouldn't look like that and she wouldn't be in this fricking show. Just fat, stupid, insecure and probably homosexual writers looking at a character packaged in a way they can't compete with or identify as so they drag it down.
>W-well I like Faye but I look and act nothing like her but I share her traits of general incompetence and being overwhelmed by shit! But she's so pretty and stand out so she SHOULD be better! Yeah, her talent should match how amazing she is! And...and men see that and she doesn't even HAVE to show her body off to get their attention! And--
It's just a bunch of cope.
The idea that a character has one costume, is probably the part of anime that the adaptations should be getting away from anyway. It's too "cartoony" and makes it look like cosplay.
Spike in reality wouldn't wear the same blue suit and yellow shirt every day. You should have a variety of outfits, that still evoke the personality of the character (the Super Mario Bros movie, of all things, actually does a good job of this. Mario still feels like Mario, even when he's dressed nothing like Mario for most of the movie).
And that, funnily enough, is also something they fricked up in the live action show.
>is probably the part of anime that the adaptations should be getting away from anyway
Nope. The characters and how they appear are iconographic. You don't just fricking change that willy nilly because of some arbitrary "b-but it's silly!" argument. People wear the same shit day after day if no one bothers them and they dont' give a shit. Past a certain age my dad wore like the same 2-3 basic maintenance jumpsuits every day until he died and didn't give a frick if people mistook him for not holding a mop. Everything you're saying is a conversation that shouldn't take place in these adaptations. It's not about introducing the mundanity of reality to fantasy.
>(the Super Mario Bros movie, of all things, actually does a good job of this. Mario still feels like Mario, even when he's dressed nothing like Mario for most of the movie)
That movie fricking sucked. Mario and Luigi were embodied on screen in name only.
>Mario and Luigi were embodied on screen in name only.
Nahm
I would say Firefly was a much better "Bebop in live action", because it knew to focus on tone, and not autistic costuming details.
The basic outline of Spike's character is he's a cool, aloof guy, who dresses stylishly, but kind of downbeat. That's what you need. You don't need it to be THE same suit in every episode. You also need the actor not to be 50.
>You don't need it to be THE same suit in every episode.
It's iconic and part of who he is. It should be featured prominently until/unless he has to change suits to infiltrate a place. Aside from that, tough, taking an outfit from anime character is like stripping the fricking suit off Batman. You don't do that. You don't try to *find* reasons and excuses to take them out of the shit that fans associate him with.
stop being a cringe
We have been saying that about literally every single adaptation of anything, ever. Studio heads, writers and producers I am convinced are so fricking stupid and disconnected with reality that they don't even have sentience.
But staying true to the source material means becoming as autistic as the japs
Why does Netflix insist on casting the ugliest mutts possible?
because they are cheap and they gain twitter approval
they have said they hire ugly people to challenge beauty standards
the creator of the manga once said Luffy would be brazilian so they casted some random brazilian they found in a favela
>ugh can't believe they didn't hire models for these bombshells
Such a handsome lad
Garp's actor is peak male handsome
He's also brown and with dark eyes in the manga yet no one is crying like Cinemaphile is about Luffy.
Also because women are threatened by depictions of female characters who are prettier than they are if they can't immediately co-opt said character for their own narratives or at least self-identify with her ("I could be her if I wanted to bother with hair and makeup! Honest! The 350lbs of fat changes nothing!"). That and they think the idea that men might appreciate a pretty girl on screen who doesn't fall into one of those categories personally offensive and threatening.
Emily Rudd was THIS close to starting an onlyfans before her agent found her this role
frick that
>~~*Adelstein*~~
One Piece doesn't look all that faithful either, not that there is anyway to make it live action and good in the first place
>'Cowboy Bebop' costume designer says she was 'resistant' to make Faye Valentine 'overtly sexualized' like her anime version
No shit.
Sneed
few people know but netflix have a good manga adaptation called The Fable
What bothers me is israelites like Adelstein seem to have bottomless wells of money which allow them to make these excuses.
Just remember the article is just cover for clueless executives handing him money to frick up. They really do not care if a single person watches this shit. They just want to push the ESG agenda and pad their resume so he can get more israelite nepotism bucks out of HBO or CBA or wherever the chosen people send him to work.
meanwhile genuinely talented artists scramble to find wagie jobs because heeb fricks like him are taking up all the salary.
Adelstein is just lucky that Oda is a borderline workhaloic and overall very autistic about his work.
>what we learned is that the fans are expecting you to be true to the source material
and it only took them 100 quadrillon dollars to figure out, amazing
>are you saying fans….prefer it when we are true to the source material??
I know execs are out of touch, but these homies are fricking in orbit to be shocked at this.
How is this a lesson anyone needed to learn? How fricking out of touch do you need to be?
>Faye Valentine's outfit was impossible to replicate in real life, said showrunner...
B-BUT SHE'S A COSPLAYER SHE CAN'T ACT BUT BUT...REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SHE'S BEAUTIFUL AND MEN LIKE HER BAAAAWWW
You think cosplayers could be any worse at performing a role than today's nepo-babbie 'actresses'.
these bawds cant even speak English let alone act
its kino
One thing I hate about their being a live-action adaptation: now every normie on the planet is going to feel compelled to give their opinion about One Piece
You need to learn something like that?
I never thought I would see any of these shitlib pushing corpo homosexuals admit this publicly.
Yeah I'm thinking this is gonna be KINO
This doesn't translate at all, frick me
For one, there was no build up to baby Luffy stabbing himself, which is a very big emersion breaker, it worked in the manga because it was a punchline and character moment, it was Luffy doing something really fricking stupid to impress the Pirate capatain that likes his town for then unknown reasons
And the Alvida fight just looked bad, and the punch and hits had no impact, compare that to the original, where it was lively and bouncy
Faithful my ass
are you moronic
see
that entire 1 page, hell only TWO PANELs is all the buildup to luffy stabbing his face
Because it's a punchline you dipshit. In live action, a child stabbing themselves isn't a fricking joke, without buildup it just comes out of nowhere
There is no buildup anon. That moment is all you're going to get, because the point of the scene is to establish Luffy as a dumbass who usually runs head first into a situation and will literally stab himself to prove a point.
Holy frick you're actually a moronic gay Black person lmao
>reeeee no there was no buildup
yes there was, stop coping over a show you've never seen
Not there wasn't you moronic ape, there was next to no buildup in that clip at all.
>there was no build up to baby Luffy stabbing himself
Perhaps there will be in the episode proper rather than a leaked clip.
looks like hot garbage.
Why'd you samegay
Everyone who saw it says its good
If you say so, homosexual.
I just gave my opinion, if that makes me a samegay maybe the general opinion is that it's not very good looking.
Cope troon I bet you defend gotslop season 8
Yep it's kino
gonna be the best show in ages
>Netflix let Luffy slap a b***h
unexpected but nice
I plan to daydrink and binge this whole shitshow at once when it drops
How are they handling her devil fruit turning her skinny? Are they skipping that?
They're doing to Arlong Park, Loguetown would start next season. Of course, "next season" is a big if.
But they've been showcasing the barrel kick, that's at the end of loguetown
There's been no sign of Smoker or Tashigi, no word on castings for them.
>women on crew
>fat and has the worst acting
Disgusting.
>men beating women
it's kino
confirmed NOT WOKE
>what we learned is fans expect an adaption to be an adaption
I'm not above beating woman. I would have relished hurting that fricking b***h.
