Oddly enough as a kid it annoyed me a little because of how anything-goes it was with such different tone and "rules" compared to the comics. I liked it, but I only got to appreciated it fully as an adult.
I think this might have actually done a number on Obelix, seeing a Roman legion he couldn't physically pummel might have driven him mad with frustration if it wasn't for Asterix being sick of everyone's shit and telling the ghosts to just frick off.
Yeah, it's pretty different from regular Asterix stuff. It wasn't based on a pre-existing comic, it felt off compared to the tone of other Asterix stories, and the ending stated it's just an imaginary story.
I wasn't a big fan of the story as a kid either. I didn't hate it, but I found it weird. Maybe I should give it a rewatch one of these days.
>It wasn't based on a pre-existing comic
I wanted to correct you and then found out that the comic "The 12 tasks of Asterix" came out 2 years after the movie and was based on it too
Wait, I rewatched the clip and it looks like I remember it wrong. I recall a scene of building rising from the ground around sleeping duo, but apparently it's just a hard cut. So I guess they just got teleported or moved somehow to Rome.
Are you sure you're not missing anything? I thought they also went into a cave where some ghosts played tennis to face"the beast", and later they emerge from a sewer in Rome and imply Obelix fricking ate it.
I could be misremembering it though. The film itself could also be different because the English version of Cleopatra has a song in the middle that the Dutch version I grew up with lacks.
>Based Bike&Dyke gay.
Is it just me, or did only the dutch voice cast bother to emote properly while reading their lines; watching these in other languages has me feeling they are just phoning it in.

The whole damn thing is on youtube if the alcohol and Alzheimer has destroyed too many facts in your brain.
I don't know why this part cracked me up as a kid, Obelix's childlike indignation at being called fat combined with Fulliautomatix satisfied smug fricking face like it was some kind of epic burn is just perfect
I only vaguely remember this movie, it was pretty bad from what I can tell.
Saw it few times, yeah not a good movie, appreciate the trippy visuals though.
Like when Panoramix shrunk the Roman soldier accidentally and he had to run away from an earthworm
It's pretty much the best educational media ever
I actually learnt a lot from reading those comics from roman and Egyptian culture to architecture and even math
No go frick yourselves
This movie was based

>Ghost about to haunt Obelix and Asterix
>Asterix tired of all the shit he went through and just want to sleep so he shuts him up

>the black girl has her ass drawn by transparency
Why are the Gauls like this?

You're forgiven.
I've seen scans of that comic but never encountered a physical copy anywhere. Apparently the comic was made by Uderzo's brother.
The coloring looks rather cheap compared to the Asterix volumes.
I like this kinda ending. Of course it's all bullshit, but we're having fun so who cares.
I never get the following scene where Rome literally grows around sleeping Asterix and Obelix.

The German version was quite ok.

it's a joke that rome is building so fast
damn some people are really low iq
You want to register a galley? No, you've got the wrong place. You want to go to the harbor master's office down at the port.
We don't want to go to the port! We want copy of permit A38
No need to yell! Here, you can find a map on the 5th floor, two doors down to the right.
We've been there!
Cinemaphile is an ugly brown-haired woman while Cinemaphile has aryan genes
i fricking remember this movie just in bits
the cave part was trippy
Alesia
Why are the Asterix movies not based on an original comic the best ones?
Damn, someone watched this?
I went to the cinema to saw it.
This was nice, but it was really just for children, while most Asterix movies are family movies.
The first CGI one was much more childish
The UK dub at least had Matt Berry as Vitalstatistix.
I will now watch your movie.
>You and Panoramix were... buddies, weren't you?
Manson of the Gods?
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that it was really good.
Did anyone else think the blonde one was really hot?
>oooh asterix, he called me a fatty
I don't know why this part cracked me up as a kid, Obelix's childlike indignation at being called fat combined with Fulliautomatix satisfied smug fricking face like it was some kind of epic burn is just perfect
The bit where the gods challenge them by asking them to ask which pile of folded laundry was softer cracked me up as a kid.
the goddess in that scene is hot as frick
is she supposed to be brigitte bardot
This made boomers piss and shit their pants.
My parents bought me the book and i was disappointed to find out it wasn't a new story, but a book of a movie based on The Big Fight
I only vaguely remember this movie, it was pretty bad from what I can tell.
It was pretty good, actually. Maybe a bit too grim for kids.
Saw it few times, yeah not a good movie, appreciate the trippy visuals though.
Like when Panoramix shrunk the Roman soldier accidentally and he had to run away from an earthworm
I like all Asterix movies but this one is so fricking weird, what were they thinking? It has a really unsettling vibe to it
my first boner
It's pretty much the best educational media ever
I actually learnt a lot from reading those comics from roman and Egyptian culture to architecture and even math
Like the first Spongebob movie, I consider this the oficial ending to Asterix. I like to think this Caesar had a nice retirement with Cleopatra.
Of course, here it is.
Can I help you with anything else?
WATCH OUT!!!!
Yeah I don't get this, what was this supposed to be? Just random shit they threw in?
All I know is that they hose down the street in Paris in a vain attempt to suppress the smell of piss, and the sewers are basically open-air.
