Did any of the Season 3 bots have this somber humanity like any of the pre-movie Autobots?
Hell shit like Powerglide falling in love with a brat rich girl really emphasizes how displaced the Autobots were due to the Decepticons and I feel like it's never ever brought up in discussions.

Ultra Magnus blew up a whole planet and then Rodimus told the surviors to get over it cuz Cybertron is cooler.

And then Rodimus gloats about it.

not really on topic and I only really have a passing interest in tf stuff
but I know how people disliked hot rod/rodimus prime for taking over after optimus for various reasons like how his characterization was kind all over the place and he replaced a favorite
but did anyone actually like how he looked? dude's fricking hideous to me, just an awful design. It's gotta be a big part of why he wasn't liked that much, he's way less cool looking than optimus

Not a huge fan of Optimus' standard design but Rodimus is just lame I agree. The fire theme is technically cool but the shape feels very generic. Even with the updates he got over the years he still looks more boring than other Primes, especially if you compare him with Nova or something. Though maybe that's because Nova is an antagonist. They always look way better than protags.

There should be another Prime after Rodimus but before the Beast Wars era.
I think we never them, name was Nitro Prime.

This makes me wonder if oddballs like Zeta will ever appear again. His templar cherub design and color scheme was super cool but in the end he was created to fill a time gap to avoid a plot hole, so he is probably one of those characters doomed to never be mentioned again outside of his original series.
I liked him because he was fighting terrorism and 'Cons together with Orion despite being an arrogant corrupt prick himself. Cybertron was still a place to live in while he was ruling but he eventually descended into madness thanks to Megatron radicalizing. You never get characters like this since Optimus is mostly flawless and every other Prime is either dead or a villain from the start.

awful colors, awful head, awful alt mode, if his helm was a bit more angular or if he got a mask or a visor had more grays or whites to balance the red/orange, maybe a pauldron or more focus on his 'wings' I think it would help. I dont know what his alt mode should be though, he starts a sports car, he should end up with something more like a work vehicle

            >did anyone actually like how he looked?
I do, but I think it's mostly the exhaust pipes that do it for me. They just look fricking cool in both modes. Of course, that's only if you don't include the trailer. Nothing can save that mess.

Yeah, the S3 bots and some of the then toon only bots felt more like guys in amor then robots made out of vehicles.

idk but I like to see Autobots acting like like you know... complex begins? I don't know how to call it but it feels good to see some of them not only focused on war but on his personal problems/dreams
those transformers G1 episodes used to be pure kino

It's simply called proper character writing. A lot of series have that issue where most characters are just their roles. So they only robotically do what they need to fulfill their missions and it usually even bleeds into the way of speaking like a lot of one-liners, wise generic sayings and stilted dialogues. An actual person has a specific way of talking, posing or behaving, has interests and dislikes that aren't related to the role they play, has personal goals beside the overarching main goal and different backgrounds or reasons for why they side with the others. Even series that focus more on the private part like many anime tend to define characters by a single trait (like the "shy one", the "angry one" etc.) and call it a day.

Unrelated but since the other anon mentioned Powerglide, I once got pic related from Sakamoto after ordering a doujinshi from him. He randomly gave fans who ordered stuff some bot portraits, I got Powerglide back then. I always forgot to post it.

    >make an episode to capitalize on the growing environmentalist movement of the 80s
    >cheap capitalist trend marketing on to seem more progressive than they actually are
    >its actually a pretty sad, poignant episode where the heroes defeat the baddies but nature still loses overall and beach comber cant even feel happy about winning
    >despite losing in the end, villains still got a rare W when they take out omega supreme

There was an episode where Air Raid jokes to letting all the worlds leaders die and he thinks the humans would be happier since they seem to want it more than the decepticons

I feel like some this plot got reused in that Tigatron episode from Beast Wars where his pet tiger gets killed in a crossfire.

I wish there was more love for tertiary TF bots. They usually don't appear in cartoons and the fans never read the comics that feature them.
A new series that reinterprets and develops the Marvel UK bits would be cool as shit. I hope Image will do something like that and not just deal with the highlights of the G1 cartoon.

Beachcombers thing was sader than when First aid was crying over war.

Beachcomber was never afraid to pull the trigger but he wish that neither side would have found the lagoon. Wheeljack would have wanted to study the lagoon and disturb the peace.

I wish we could get a longer lasting cartoon like G1 again because I feel like TF is the kind of show that needs time to get really good every fan hopes to see their niche favorites. This can only happen if a show has enough time to introduce bots that aren't part of the main core and if it has time to work with them.
Add to that that most cartoons now feel the need to have an introduction season that focuses on human OC kids that discover the bots, befriend them blah blah the story is more or less the same every time, technically only having the potential to turn the cartoon into something cool with season 2 onward, but s2 or s3 is where most of them already end.

I see a lot of fans praising Cyberverse and from the post I see it seems to be for two things mainly, 1. many bots, even guys or versions from the comics or versions close to them, 2. no humans. I think that both points are about the same thing, the desire for more bots and bot centered SF adventures, something humans either delay or prevent.
So either give us a show that largely ignores humans from the start (even Furman's new comic is doing that and it's great) or give humans but more season to have the time delve deeper into the lore and make some cool shit with it.

I will forever be mad at DeSanto for being such an awful writer that he had multiple chances to do this and managed to frick it up regardless.
