    >How does this work?

    >It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
    >There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.

    >If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.
    >If you just want feedback on an OC of yours, then it would go in the "donut steel" threads or drawthreads.

If the thread dies suddenly or you still want to discuss something when there's no thread:

Is there anything else to Doug Infinite or is he just a product placement/advertising joke?

I picture him as strong but silent powerhouse of the Crusaders, not sure if much about his attitude has been thought up yet.
mostly seemed upbeat from what I've seen so far.

He tries to keep Kid Valor and Boy o' War somewhat calm in matters not regarding their rivalry. It's why he voted with them to keep GG off of the team.

Doug is a skid row kid. He spends a lot of time in the boxing gym working his shockingly modest sponsorship deal (considering his super-human fighting prowess). A locker and a cot in the gym's basement and a lifetime supply of Vita-mints. (Never consumed before a fight, tho!) He often helps out a no-nonsense gumshoe type hero solve crimes. The detective in return has pulled some strings to get him into a half-decent school.

While he talks like a Bowery Boy and his mannerisms seem slow he's actually startlingly sharp and attentive to details. His attendance is perfect and he works hard to turn in all his schoolwork on time. When he's not fighting crime or at the gym he's usually helping out denizens of the slums in his free time.

Despite a hard luck life, Doug tries his best to be a good kid. Sporting an easy smile for his friends and rock-solid slobber-knockers for his foes.

You think Decom would use guns?

I was thinking about him carrying a small AK (AKS-74U) under his coat.

      Anonymous

I think it would depend on how clandestine the mission is. If he's down south fighting terrorists then sure, but if he's out west fighting capitalists then probably not.
He strikes me more of a hand-to-hand fighter to make use of his chimp prowess.

But if he has hands for feet then he should be able to shoot a gun with his feet.

        Anonymous

        >But if he has hands for feet then he should be able to shoot a gun with his feet.
I imagine that he's well dressed under that coat so he'd be wearing dress shoes most of the time. But he could kick off those shoes and if things get too hairy. Triple wielding would be pretty kick ass.

Whereas IA is more ideologically possessed, Decom is more cynical about all of that stuff. He's more interested in pleasing the bureaucracy and playing the politics game. He's an agent, not a superhero. He's more willing to carry out dirty work.

        only one gun?

        maybe a Makarov as well

Much more suited for destabilizing countries to the south of the motherland then.

If he finds the superhero game the top brass are playing with the west silly and wasteful, I doubt he can express those views very openly. IA is very much on the front lines of their propaganda war and every clash with GGu or any other super is another opportunity to spin the narrative in their favor.
But that's all the boring politics I wouldn't waste too much time focusing on when there are high impact fistfights to be had on top of an oil tanker in a frozen sea. I feel IA would force Decom to wear a pirate hat when they're sent on those kinds of missions, just so we can show IA isn't a massive sourpuss all of the time.

Looks like a good start. That's kinda how I've been picturing her: all-black with the highlights defining her form and features to give her a slick appearance.

I'll try to get to work editing the Bullion scripts this week; I want to at least get #1 done before Xenoblade 3 comes out and distracts me.

Cool. I'm going to just keep forcing myself to go forward writing them.
I've basically been in move-or-die mode since March.

I think it can be done in under 20 issues, but I'm not sure. Then I'll set my sights on something else for a while.

remembered that after inking it and had to start anew

Hey, more eye candy! Glad you like what I'm putting out enough to be inspired by it.

        [...]
cool. I'm glad I did the EE portraits. I was hoping to inspire some other artists to pitch in.

        [...]
It makes everything more interesting to have couples that are somewhat at odds with each other. GGu/BB don't see eye to eye.

IA/Decom shouldn't either. Although their disagreements may end up being less severe compared to Sylikon.

        [...]
"Ebony Editor" (working name). She's part of the Bullion era.

I get the feeling IA and Decom's dynamic will be very different comparing the 70s to the 90s. In the 90s I think he'll be more survival orientated and the perceived lack of honor will annoy IA more than his cynicism in the 70s. But at the same time some part of IA will acknowledge that Decom was mostly right about almost everything by the 90s and trust his judgement... to an extent. She'll listen to him more in the 90s than she did in the 70s if nothing else.

    Page 9
    Panel 1
Lucia is leaning over the control board of BIGRAC. The POV is from above the control boar so we can see her fully leaned and and totally absorbed in what she is doing. She's pushing buttons while looking at the screen (which is off-panel), there's a speaker in front of her. This is all to show that she is carefully directing Bullion's group.
Lucia: "Then take a left and the building on your right will be safe to hunker down in."

    Panel 2
Close up of Lucia's face, emphasis on her eyes. She's turning around in a hurry. There's a CLICK sound effect off panel coming from behind her that she's turning to face.

    Panel 3
Silver Queen is standing in the doorway. She's in the foreground of the pane, visible from the hips up. Lucia is in the backdrop of the panel leaning back against the controls, she's trying to obscure what she was doing.
SQ: "Lucia, what are you doing up at this hour?"
Lucia: "Ms. Sterling! I was just-"

    Panel 4
Silver Queen has her classic smile back as she's walking into the Silver Sanctum, maybe with a spring in her step. The perspective would be to the side.
SQ: "Of course! You're using BIGRAC to look for Audrey! Have you found anything?"

    Panel 5
BIGRAC is enveloped in static with black tendrils emerging from it arching around Lucia, poised to snare her like a bear trap. Lucia has not noticed them, she's too focused on Silver Queen. Silver Queen has noticed them though and her eyebrows are raised in alarm with her hand outstretched.
Lucia: "Nothing yet, Ms. Sterling. But perhaps if you-"
    SQ: "Lucia!"

      Page 10
      Panel 1
Silver Queen has grabbed a hold of Lucia's hand and is desperately trying to pull her out. Lucia is wrapped in the tendrils, she's gagged and her other arm is pinned to her body. The static is spreading over her body from where the tendrils have made contact.
SQ: "I'll get you out of this!"

      Panel 2
The POV is from behind where Lucia was in the previous panel. The edges of the panel are made of static, the hand SQ is holding is also static and she has a fist now to show that Lucia has disappeared from her grasp. Silver Queen looks like she's falling forward towards the 4th wall, maybe even reaching beyond the panel's boarders.
      SQ: "LUCIA!"

      Panel 3
Silver Queen has both of her hands flat on the controls of BIGRAC. She's in a cold sweat facing down.

      Panel 4
Silver Queen is standing up with her head turned around from BIGRAC looking around the Silver Sanctum. She has a hand to her forehead like checking for a fever.
      SQ: "What was I-?"
SQ: "Was someone else just here? No, that's impossible."

      Panel 5
Silver Queen is startled by the radio on BIGRAC being live. She's turning to look at it.
Bullion, off panel: "We've made it to the next location."

        Page 11
        Panel 1
Silver Queen has grabbed the radio transmitter on the computer and is yelling into it
SQ: "Bullion?! Bullion, is that you? Where are you?!"

        Panel 2
This panel is side-by-side with panel 1, the text bubbles overlap. Bullion is holding up the walkie-talkie, staring down into it, sweat visible on her brow. Olympian is down in the corner looking up somberly.
        Bullion: "Silver Queen?! Where's Lucia?"
SQ, back in panel 1: "Who is Lucia? Bullion, please, come home. I'm worried sick."
Bullion: "Who is-? Oh no, oh no! Lucia! Lucia are you there, can you hear me!?"
Olympian: "It took her. She doesn't remember her anymore."

        Panel 3
This panel focuses on Bullion's face. Maybe from the mid-chest up. She's wide-eyed, maybe glassy eyed like she's fighting back tears. She's still holding up the walkie-talkie.
        Bullion: "No... Silver Queen, I..."

        Panel 4
Panels 4 and 5 are another pair of side-by-sides.
Bullion is sunk low holding the walkie-talkie down. She's running a hand through her hair. Olympian is jumping up and putting a paw on the walkie-talkie to turn it off.
Bullion: "You don't understand what's happening!"

        Panel 5
Silver Queen is pointing accusingly towards panel 4. Her expression has shifted from worry to anger.
SQ: "I understand perfectly! Bullion, that scoundrel has you under his spell! You have to-"
        Click. Olympian cut the line.

        Panel 6
Silver Queen's expression has changed back to worry as she holds the transmitter and is pushing buttons on BIGRAC.
        SQ: "Bullion? Bullion!"

        Panel 7
Silver Queen has slumped down on the controls with her face in her hands. There's a light blinking on the dash board.
        SQ: "Audrey..."

        Panel 8
Small panel of a the blinking light next to a label that reads "Audio Logs"
SQ, off panel: "What's this? I don't remember making a recording..."

          Page 12
          Panel 1
Bullion is facing away from the group. She's in the background, her backside is facing the reader. Billy and Iris are in the foreground exchanging looks. Billy is making a frown, Iris has a thumb tip to her lip.
          Bullion: "Hey, ink woman."

Note: The room they are in is an abandoned apartment on the third of fourth floor of an old building. One of those condemned buildings that are everywhere in big cities that no one ever talks about and you see all the time in comics. There are windows on one side the overlook the street below.

          Panel 2
EE is still in bondage and now floating upside-down, as in her head is pointing towards the ground, legs to the ceiling. She has a neutral/indifferent expression.
Bullion, off panel: "Is Lucia really gone?"
EE: "Yes. Though I am separated, I can still feel when the path to the domain is opened."

          Panel 3
POV is from the ground up so Olympian can be in frame, his expression is one of concern/empathy as he's looking up at Bullion who looking up slightly. We're still only seeing her from behind, we don't see her face.
Bullion: "You said it only removes the morally depraved, so tell me... how Lucia could have met that criteria?"

          Panel 4
EE is still tied up and floating, her expression is still deadpan. She's laying to one side like one of your French girls. Billy is looking down and shaking his head in disapproval. Iris has both of her hands up to her sides in disbelief.
EE: "I do not know. Perhaps she was having a scandalous affair with Silver Queen."

          Panel 5
Bullion is exiting the room through the doorway. One hand is up to her face wiping away tears we don't see because she's still turned away from the readers, her other hand is on the door frame. Olympian is following her with his head turned back around towards the group.
Bullion: "I'm going rooftop to get some air. Plan our next move. Our location is likely compromised."
          Olympian: "I'll go with her."

            Page 13
            Panel 1
Iris is holding a finger up to EE's face. EE is still floating and recoiling a little from Iris. The magic rope binding her goes off panel.
Iris: "What kind of... asinine assumption was that?! You have no tact. No understanding of people at all!"
EE: "It would have been cause for her removal."

            Panel 2
Billy is sitting down in an armchair with the guitar on top of him. He's leaning back and trying to relax a little.
Billy: "I think I've figured something out. You can't touch her, yeah? Like not at all without being in pain."

Billy: "That means you can't pull anything away from her. So that whole worst of humanity spiel you spat out..."

            Panel 3
Billy is tipping his shades and leaning forward a little. He's uncharacteristically serious.
            Billy: "falls flat."

            Panel 4
EE and Iris are standing side-by-side, both looking in Billy's direction. EE is no longer floating, she's flat footed on the floor.
Billy, off panel: "Go ahead and label me a deviant, a miscreant or a bad apple, I never made any claims of being anything else."

            Panel 5
Billy is gently strumming his guitar. Around him are little images of GG saving people, getting cats out of trees, picking up trash, fighting villains, just an arrangement of her heroic actions in the form of a mobile circling around Billy.
Billy: "But she always does what's right. Nothing removed, nothing suppressed. She's all there and always has been."
Billy: "If people like her exist without any of your 'help', then what are you doing going after her?"

            Panel 6
EE is looking down and to the side. She's seriously pondering this now.
"I will admit something does feel... amiss with current actions taken, but there must be a reason."

              Page 14
              Panel 1
Bullion is sitting up on the flat rooftop near the edge, the wall the door to the roof is built into is in the background and it has been left ajar and Olympian's head is peaking out from around it. She has her arms wrapped around her knees as best she can given how much of her chest is in the way.

              Panel 2
Bullion is in the same pose as the previous panel. Olympian is sitting next to her, they're over looking the city watching the horizon. The sun is about to come up. The angle is more from behind them so we can see the view.
Olympian: "We'll get her back. We'll get everyone back."
              Bullion: "I know that."

              Panel 3
Small panel. Bullion is out of frame aside from her arm. She's petting Olympian on the head or scratching behind his ears.
              Bullion: "I'm OK, Olympian."

              Panel 4
Black Rose is behind the wheel of her car, there's static flaring up all around her eyes and leaking out from under the brim of her hat.
Black Rose: "You will not escape me!"

              Panel 5
Black Rose's car takes a corner very hard, the back end of her long car is smashing some trashcans on the side of the road. There's speed lines to show the swerve. There are people jumping back to avoid getting run over up on the sidewalk.

              Page 15
Tall one image page with maybe a fish eye lens effect going on where Bullion and Olympian are standing on top of the building (to show how high up they are) looking down and at the street below where Black Rose's car is speeding by with a small child shaped shadow seen in her blaring headlights. Bullion and Olympian both look alarmed, the car does not show any indication of stopping or any notice of the person about to be run down.

Was thinking that Bullion issue 3 cover might be fun to do an homage of this cover but with Billy going "My guitar is a DEMON!" with a guitar on the table instead of drugs and speedie being a shadow creature of De Blues emerging from the guitar

    Thoughts?

I feel there's better potential in Blues forcing Billy to do the drugs and other bad things.

I can't remember if there were any covers that had a villain clinging onto a hero like a parasite... other than things Venom related. Or as a puppeteer with Billy as the puppet.

No, I need to stop myself. I shouldn't be writing past midnight. I get too sloppy this late.

I have a lot of ideas to parse through for the rest of Bullion #12, but it's very obvious now I need to break the issue in half from where I was originally planning to end it at.
I wonder if I can get the emotion right for what Audrey is going through right now. Well, not so much the emotion, but the words that come with it.

Eyebrows play a big role in that I think.

Alright. I got more heavy handed on the dialogue than I wanted to, but I wanted Billy to have some insights since I couldn't figure out a way for Iris to do it without being even heavier handed.

And I did manage to work in a reference to the accusations of Batman making kids gay and them killing Alfred the first time in response to that.

      Anonymous

      >And I did manage to work in a reference to the accusations of Batman making kids gay and them killing Alfred the first time in response to that.
Maybe it's just the way I write things, but I feel it might be too direct a reference for the era. Perhaps it would be better if EE starts to imply it, but Bullion cuts her off in frustration. It would flow into the next panel better.

        Anonymous

I've been told this both ways before so I'm fine with being heavy handed and making things blatant sometimes. The struggle with dialogue won't get any better if I drag my heels and not keep putting out something.
As for the era, I'm not beholding myself too strongly to it since in my mind making the story comes first. I keep in mind the technology of the day and whatever I remember of 60s media I've been exposed to over my life to pull from for the sort of vibe I think it should have.

I don't mean this as a dig at you, it's just the unfiltered thought that came to mind: I can only tongue-and-cheek things so much before I'm making unintelligible grapefruit sucking noises.
And I thought that was funny.

I thought about doing a 90s version of her. I would have kept the pigtails but they would have been long, thinner, and sat on the nape of her neck. I feel like it would still allude to her Comanche heritage. It's just the bangs that would need to be updated.

Typically I'd agree with you, but she's a western themed superhero. It's a natural way to expand on the theme. I'd imagine that she'd be a mish mash of Old West styles. Native, Cowboy, and maybe some Mexican.

It's where all of the Glories get their mystical aiming power from.

            >she's a western themed superhero. It's a natural way to expand on the theme.

It's the backstory justification for the super power the Glory line all have.

here's an idea. meet Barbara Steeler, a woman who tried to have a kid many times only for it to always end in miscarriage. her envy for mothers became so strong that it turned into the super villain NOT MOM, with mind control powers she steals peoples kids and makes them thinks she's their mother. with an army of children at her disposal she is nigh untouchable, unless you're willing to abort other people's kids that is, even then while her powers wear off at somepoint during puberty, those who grew up under her stay attached cause they still remember her as mom and thus her army also has some competent adults who will kill for her

Haven't seen you around in a while.

I dig it. Very reminiscent, but still more modern. I'm getting custom textures done, but this is the outfit I did for my render version of her. Also made her more visually native (though there's still black in there) for the sake of variety

That's Great Glory II, not Girl Glory (III).

write at the top of the page the general summery of the scene

or even just type in the junk dialog thats close enough and come back later once you have a better idea

        >write at the top of the page the general summery of the scene

You need to write a step outline. Scene heading, with a short summary of what happens in the scene (no more than 2-3 lines).
Then, after you finish the step outline for the whole short/episode/pilot, you write in detail what happens in each scene.
Only after that, you add dialogues and final touches.

Always go from small to big, otherwise, trying to finish a single scene and then write the next one becomes too much of a hassle.

Before I start writing Bullion #13's script I'd like to talk about The Twins.
I have a big fight planned involving them and I want to understand what they can actually do first.
Right now the only thing said is they practice mystical martial arts and are supernaturally synchronized.

Is that it or is there more to their combat prowess? I can work with that being all there is to them, but if there should be more then I have an idea.
What if one leaves black lines in the air of her movements and the other leaves white lines in the air of her movements. Individually the lines don't do anything and just look like cool after effects, but if they cross then the point of intersection maintains all of the momentum/impact of the two blows that went through the air in that space. So like a mid-air minefield of punches and kicks.
    Does that make sense?
The lines wouldn't linger in the air for very long or else there'd be a massive spiderweb of them everywhere during a fight.

I have the outcome of the fight in mind, but the choreography of it is something I'm still working out in my head since I want more information about The Twins.

The fact that necrobotics is now a real thing utterly astounds me. They jabbed an electric needle into a dead spider and turned it into one of those claw grabber games. Imagine the LGMs looking up at THE CLAW and it's a spider.

      Neat.

I don't know if it was ever discussed before, but I either had an idea for Lucia's backstory or I saw an idea that gave me this idea.
She's from Argentina, a country I know very little about other than its geographical location and there have been uprisings, revolutions and dictators. And the stupid memes that Cinemaphile spouts that bleed into board-tan art.

My thinking is Lucia was either a member of a gang or a part of a revolutionary movement, but became disillusioned with it.
The backstory right now is that Sarah Sterling went to Argentina to sure up some trade deals to keep the country away from considering joining the Axis, and that's when she met Lucia. Maybe Sarah was a mark at first, a planned kidnapping, and Lucia was swayed by Sarah not to go along with it. Sarah then hired her as a way to get Lucia out of the gang's cross-hairs and then out of the country. Their plane went down on the way back because some of her old gang planted a bomb on it.

I never found a way to work any of that into a story that felt satisfactory to me since it's pre-Silver Queen, so I never went anywhere with it.
It's just been sitting in the back of my mind for a while now.

I like the imagery of a mad scientist bazaar but I'd like to see something that's better intertwined with the universe. Maybe a scientist was selling something from the EE storyline. Something that really enticed BB. I was hoping for something that appealed to her insecurities, but it doesn't complete the puzzle in her mind. Which would be motivation for Sylikon to complete it.

          Anonymous

Well the side-plot I've had on the back burner for the 90s era is the cartel going around selling and distributing gum that gives people superpowers (with some other addictive substances mixed in). A combination of the radical 90s D.A.R.E. PSAs mixed with a way to have any superpower we want show up with that as a justification after they're introduced. Then I was going to weave them into the same circle of scientists who created The New and go from there.

Sydney feeling she can't catch up to GGu would be tempted by something that can give her power, but she wouldn't take the gum as is, instead she'd break it down, study it, extract whatever was in it that gives powers, and then use that. Jet letting myself go down this thought avenue, there was probably something in it that she took out that made it too potent to control. Mix that in with some other factors and we'd have a path to Sylikon.

But you know, that's all stuff I want to build up to and hash out with everyone along the way.
Until then, I'm busying myself with Bullion and whatever I get on after that.

I honestly don't know how much of her first pitch ideas are still present.
I thought of her as a coder, so she could theoretically look at chemistry and go "Oh yeah, this is just a different kind of code" and figure it out after a few months.

Jumps back to the comic book logic of if you're a scientist, you know all science

Oh you're a quantum physicist, of course you can program the most advanced A.I. that's ever been made. Though not being your main area of study it will likely try to kill everyone.

Well then it fits in great.

I see Sydney as a very focused tunnel vision type of person. Once she understands how something works, give her enough time and she can do anything. The way I sort of see it is one of her big problems is she only thinks she understands how the whole hero thing works and she's too tunnel visioned to realize she has a lot of things wrong.
If she actually has the idea behind something right, she can become really good at if given enough time and training. She has that kind of focus and drive. I see shades of idiot savant in her.

A few more things to do before I can work more on Bullion writing.

There's a lot of really cool backwards twist jumps that come to mind, but thinking more about the choreography of the scene they don't really work, so now I'm thinking about rolls.
Bullion mainly needs to avoid where the black and white motion lines intersect, so instead of jumping over them, she can roll under them since I would assume most of the places where The Twins would have overlapping blows would be more around chest level.

Plus I need to balance this with a small scene on each page of Billy/Iris/Olympian/EE running down the stairs and EE looking out of the window at each flight.
By the time they make it to ground level the fight is going to be over. This is to show just how fast this fight was.
