    >How does this work?

    >It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
    >There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.

    >If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.
    >If you just want feedback on an OC of yours, then it would go in the "donut steel" threads or drawthreads.

Until SLA took an interest in her early this year, she was just a doodlebug character who had never been featured in anything or had any established really established about her.

There are hundreds of doodlebug characters who are still in that situation.

That's true, but not alot of stories about em made by this SLA person, really just bump stuff and conversation stuff between characters.

True, but that can also be useful.
When coming up with a story, it's good to know your characters first. Do a bunch of fluff with them, have them talk to other characters so you can get a feel for how they'll respond to the situations you throw them into, see if you can get anyone else interested in them who is willing to toss the ball back and forth for a while.
Once you have all that fluff and start talking story, it tends to go easier (provided the fluff doesn't suffocate the attempt first anyway). From there it's much easier to start coming up with a plot outline and once you have that, it becomes so much easier to actually write the story.

In my experience with Cinemaphilele and Bullion anyway.

You can do plot outlining in the threads easily enough. The best part is when someone else actually does take an interest and throws out ideas you didn't previously consider/think of. Then it all just starts snowballing.
Just look at what happens whenever discussion about I Know A Guy gets rolling. That's always a story jam session.

I could take the current JackHammer notes and spin one of them into a script in an afternoon or so, there's more than enough there for me to work with, but I'm currently waiting on the other anon who was writing the I2Eye script. I don't know the exact way how they'll conclude the second half, so depending on that will change the scene for the Blessing in Disguise hospital opener for the next script idea.

You mentioned a "semblance of consensus" earlier, but I'm an impatient jackass who can and has gone full hog writing stories off on my own before. When I get a fire lit under my ass for a story idea I can't just sit on it forever, I need to get the words written down out there, if not for them to be seen then to at least get them out of my head so I can get to work on the next thing. JackHammer is nearing that point for me since the notes are beginning to stretch far ahead of where the project actually is (which I consider to be the current fully written script and the far ahead bits being Crackdown).

But I try not to just take over projects since I know someone probably imagines them going in a totally different direction and I don't want to shut them out.
Anyway, enough tangents from me. Going to bed now, goodnight.

I'll probably start placing them into script form later. But I'll start describing the first panel here which also contains the title card.

It's a panel that takes up the whole width of the page. But right now I'm not sure of the height.

It's basically like picrel with the title somewhere on the screen, either below the face or on top. The screen would probably be higher and a platform in front of it with guards on it. Just want to ask if at this part it shows I2Eyes face or not?

                [...]
                [...]

If it's a screen like that, then have I2Eye's face on it (have it distorted somewhat).
Would the guy running the compound be present in the same panel, or is he in the next panel?

                >have it distorted somewhat
distorted to the point that his face isn't recognizable or like just poor video quality? I've been going back and reviewing the script and there's a part where Cataract is talking to a screen with the description "big-screen-that-don't-show-the-face-of-the-bad-guy-yet."

                >Would the guy running the compound be present in the same panel
He could be at the middle of the platform, now I'm thinking if he has the prototype Eye Fighters with him or not.

Sunday bugdoodles, working on logo design for the upcoming Blueblood short. Anything here stand out?

                >Anything here stand out?
That Marley Sonic really stands out.
But for the Blueblood title, the top left looks really cool but as

The two top left ones look too much like "Slueblood" with the stylized B.
The top right one isn't really legible.
The ones on the left going down look like more genetic superhero-ish lettering.
Second row right looks like Buttblood.
Bottom right looks good. The L being stylized still keeps enough context cues to know what the word is and the blood drip at the end is a nice touch.

has stated the stylized B could lead to some confusion, bottom right looks good too especially the blood drip. Maybe lean towards the cursive to incorporate the logo and keep the blood drips. But that's just a suggestion.

The screen could just have the third eye logo on it with some static distortion.
Or that logo over the giant head.

The thing with prototypes is, you have to start somewhere. So he could have some guys in really clunky powersuits stomping around.

                The same prototypes.
Do the Eye Fighters have comically oversized helmets in the shape of a giant eye?

The Laughing Man is from the first season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. He's a hacker who is able to superimpose an image over his face on every camera or cybernetic person observing him.

                Anonymous

Oh I thought that the Eye Fighters would be a Gaster Blaster + Eye bot hybrid. The script even mentions that newer versions would be disguised as monk-like necklace beads. But I do like the idea of oversized eye helmets. Maybe they can be a different enemy type?

I've looked up The Laughing Man now, makes me wonder if there was a logo concept for I2Eye. Also what's the overall theme/design of the cult? Robes and mystic like or a militia like in Far Cry 5?

                Anonymous

Have the stompy enforcer soldier wear the bulky suits with the big eye helmets and the fancier, more subtle stuff on the higher ranking members.

I think the outward theme of the cult is mystic robes/monks and such (the ones you'd encounter on the streets), but on the inside it's a typical pseudo-military mercenary army (so inside of their corporate compounds where we are now).

Moving away from shipping stuff, I can see Arthur agreeing with one half of what Lila's saying here and fundamentally being against the other.

On one hand, he can absolutely relate to her annoyance over masked vigilantilism becoming a subject of public worship and constant media buzz.
That's the reason why he hates "performative" superheroism and doesn't want to inspire anyone else: in his opinion, superheroes and supervillains are byproduct of a terminally sick society. It's just not something well-adjusted people should do. One of the main reasons why he does so himself is because, in his mind, it was the only way he could bring about any kind of positive change, even if he fails to tackle the actual issue. He already hates himself, so why wouldn't he toss himself into a forever-war on crime and stop a handful of local tragedies before he gets gunned down? Of course he would assume a less extreme position on that later on, but he'd still keep believing in possibility of things being *fundamentally* better.

But but on the other, "punching the less fortunate" is a bit that he'd disagree with. Not everyone who pushes dope on steets or accepts bribes that end up fricking over countless innocents does so to pay for their dear nana's cancer treatment and Arthur knows it first-hand. Some do it simply because they think they can get away with it.

Lila is extremely sheltered, very optimistic and has a way of bringing out people's better natures so even when she encounters someone unsavory oftentimes they smarten up their act around her. Its given her a somewhat rosy view of people at large which is not entirely compatible with broader reality.

And the funny thing is, this is not even fully referring to the thugs he beats up in the alleyway as Crackdown.
Even though he doesn't recall much about living in Braun mansion on account of his young age at the time, he still got a taste of how some of the richest people of the world earn their money and, a sight that's even more reprehensible, how they spend it.
So yeah, he doesn't buy "socioeconomic factors" stuff.

Greetings anons, and as in every thread, I'm pitching my idea for this week, enjoy!

    >"WHAT'S WITH MY CAT-GIRL?"

    >Plot:
a mockumentary about a renowned cat behaviorist named Ronan. He gained fame through his hit reality Book called "do you know Your Cat-Girl?" where he helped cat-girl owners understand and resolve behavioral issues with their feline companions.
(a parody of Jackson Galaxy and his show "my cat from hell")

    Example of an episode:

    >In one episode, Ronan received a distress call from a young couple named Alex and Emily. Their recently adopted cat-girl, Fiona, a beautiful calico with a feisty personality, had been showing signs of aggression towards them. Determined to assist the troubled couple, Ronan packed his gear and headed to their house.

    >As Ronan arrived at the couple's residence, the cameras followed his every move. With a confident smile, he turned to the camera and exclaimed, "It's getting real, ladies and gentlemen!"

    >Taking a deep breath, Ronan approached Fiona cautiously, knowing her aggression could be a result of fear or unfamiliarity. "I'm not here to hurt you," he reassured Fiona, both to her face and to the camera. He began explaining to the audience the intricacies of cat-girl behavior, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and welcoming environment for them.

    >To everyone's surprise, Fiona retorted, "You realize that I can hear you, right?"

    >Ronan ignored her remark, continuing to educate the viewers about the significance of providing cat-girls with safe spaces, delicious food, stimulating toys, and affectionate pats and scratches. He aimed to make them feel cherished and accepted within their human households.

    >Intrigued, Fiona's ears perked up, and she hesitantly said, "Well, that might work, I guess."

    >Encouraged by Fiona's response, Ronan slowly inched closer to her, extending a handful of kibble With each passing moment, Fiona's guard began to soften, and she allowed Ronan to gently stroke her fur.

        >Jeremy Rerner
from the google doc of the project:
        >A lonesome introvert, is a semi-mute. Tends to be refraining from people here and there when doing his usual, yet makes contact in a minor manner with vocals, gesturing, and expressions; a shy/socially “off” for a person. May have issues with social “sayings”, though can at least understand social sayings if it isn’t complicated for him. Though nonsocial, can make up for with semi-determination and his awareness of things. He at least is finding the full puzzle of realizing compassion and other positives to be better. Sees and has reasonable and/or logical abilities to things, though there may be flaws here and there. Capable of doing right, though with some issues, seeable or not. May be on the spectrum.
        >* Minor-Medium (Anomalous Energy) Ergokinesis, able to utilize some form of personal anomaly energy for any purpose. Is capable of generating and activating energy through his left hand. These come in the forms of either a form of a small energy “wave” that is able to cut through/damage items or people, or able to push them back. Can also come in the form of a small few orbs with use as a projection. Capable of also utilizing the energies as a sort of enhancement to his body, yet it seems only temporary considering his current body status. These abilities include enhanced agility, giving him jump capabilities that would make go up to a story of a house.
        >Make him a kid hero, potential one for hero (aka the equivalent of a hero merc...but better?), throw in a side job as a courier? unsure. But sure that he will be using guns to go alongside his ergokinesis. Basically a kid with guns.
        >Essentially have him be a bit lonely here and there aside from things here and there with his relative (his grandpa), but become somewhat accepting of it.

Potentially wanted to give him the name Marvel-Man, since it was better than the name Ex-Son.

        Thoughts?

Wait a minute, I didn't get at first that the thread died because of spam. I guess another regular thread would be good then. But maybe I couldn't make it the first time because the subject was the same as a freshly archived thread? Is that a thing?

Anyway, given that this is the /coc/ thread and I really like some of the characters here, I wanted to ask the regulars: what about a crossover episode with Stargaze and some /coc/ OCs? I'm not asking to make anything, or change your projects and whatnot. It's purely on a hypothetical level. But I was thinking something like "a meteor soars the sky of Los Palos, and the Lovely Ladybug
finds a mysterious spacecraft at the site of the impact. A prince from another galaxy appear from inside the spacecraft and asks Ladybug to help him catch the dangerous individual he was pursuing before entering a wormhole".
Yes or nay? Interesting? Boring? Something else came to mind?

If Stargaze is a space adventurer then I imagine he'd tussle with some of the space villains we have.

What sort of adventure rating does he warrant? Space piracy and operas? Or planet stealing/destroying?

            Anonymous

            >What sort of adventure rating does he warrant? Space piracy and operas? Or planet stealing/destroying?
I guess both, depending on the villain that comes with him. If it's one of the minor goons, space piracy. If it's Nebulious, then it's human vs overpowered cosmic entity. If it's Wire Shark, then invasion from a fleet of alien fish robots. And it goes from here.
I'll be honest and share my headcanon: I imagined something involving Stargaze giving Marley the last shard of the Lightstar (the mcGuffin powering his weapon, an infinite source of energy) to defeat some impossible enemy because it must be her to do it and he sees a true hero in her. Marley use the shard in her power suit and she becomes Golden Ladybug. Or something like that.

Anyway, I made the new thread.

              Anonymous

Well, reading this again I think I wasn't very clear. Or I implied too many things without saying them.
I guess the setting of a hypothetical crossover would be the planet/universe of the /coc/ OC (given that this is the /coc/ thread), so Stargaze should go there by means of a plot device (wormhole or something). To make things interesting and maybe balanced, I tought that a villain from his universe might have come with him. Depending on the villain, the scope of the plot would change.
But if I understand the question that I quoted before, then maybe space piracy and operas would be the answer. Planet stealing/destroying... something like Belvraik?
Anyway, I thought about something on a smaller scale, but who knows.

I checked the wiki, this seems cool, lots of interesting characters. There's also some sibling rivalry (though I guess this is all sibling rivalry), that is something also present in Stargaze.

                >Even the crossover that I mentioned, I imagined it like a christmas special or something not exactly canon like that.
Like the one where Skeletor tells the children from Earth he's not nice and Orko learns about Jesus off screen!

I was thinking exactly that. Maybe just more character driven, something to show off the inner conflicts or motivations. Good material for a PSA, or a moral/life lesson at the end.

You should be surprised, we're all okay with having someone coming in and all, which is funny considering our slow threads nowadays.
I'm good to hear we got another ladybug fan!

But aside from all that, the real big thing is this: We could allow stargaze as part of a Cinemaphilesmic place and all, we don't got alot of space characters, you know? Another universe would be great

                >We could allow stargaze as part of a Cinemaphilesmic place and all
Well, the material of the project is CC-0, so I guess if anyone wants to do anything, they are free to do it. Like that project with ducks, Heroes of Pond, that was discussed recently on Cinemaphile. But I guess there's a distinction between the main projects and whatever crossover, spinoff or "what if" people (like me) would like to do. Imo, the important thing is to avoid what happened to Golden Girl: the original project wasn't about porn, but a different interpretation became more prominent than the original idea and now a lot of people see boobs and think porn. And I can understand if that isn't ok with someone.
I'd like to do something that can add value and leave things as they are.

now hang on: how are we certain that stargaze and his "verse" isn't just in a far away section of the /coc/verse?

Just saying, some things even by our own selves can fit into the giant universal puzzle piece, so to speak. To add btw: how come you never were able to add your stuff to this thread? At this point you can join us and we all can help one another, you know?

                >how are we certain that stargaze and his "verse" isn't just in a far away section of the /coc/verse?
As everything original made on Cinemaphile, I guess Stargaze is eventually part of the multiverse.
                >how come you never were able to add your stuff to this thread?
There was some talk about it (proof in "Last time:" of https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/135984720/). But there are reasons why I believe things should continue as they are, at least for the moment. One is to avoid drowning things out, which is the reason why "Let's make an 80s cartoon made to sell toys" became the Stargaze thread.
Another is because I think that, in trying to make a cartoon series, there's less of the toy chest aspect of the /coc/ threads and more attention toward a final goal. People can pitch characters even in the Stargaze threads, but they would be characters for the project (although, being an episodic show, there's a lot of freedom).
Finally, things worked until now, so I'd be cautious about changing them. Having a dedicated thread has its advantages and, reading the latest honeybee threads, there was a rule of not talking about Honeybee in other threads. Probably as much to avoid making the mods angry as preserving the cohesion of their project and the projects of other people.
I'm not saying that Stargaze is better than others and it deserves its own thread. Far from it. But at least for now, I think it would be better to continue in separate threads. I'm grateful to you all for being so friendly those times we had to find a shelter, but I always felt a bit like a freeloader and that's the reason I made things like the chart in pic related, or that I talked about a crossover that could at least give a semblance of a reason to be here (although I really have some headcanon about it, I'm a fan of Ladybug). Even the crossover that I mentioned, I imagined it like a christmas special or something not exactly canon like that. I really don't want to bother you guys.

Do you think that Crackdown should have more supporting characters of his own?

On one hand, the theme of social isolation is a prominent one with Arthur, but, on the other, I feel like giving him no one to latch on to isn't the right way to go about it either.
I've already mentioned the landlord lady who'd be like a more morally questionable version of Aunt May and now I'm thinking about making his grandfather a more important figure in his life, mostly during his upbringing before he came to the States so he'd mostly be featured in flashbacks.

      Anonymous

With how "dark" you like to make Crackdown's gritty adventures, imagine if he freed a kidnapping victim and the guy was so broken he'd latch onto the masked man who freed him.
(Something like that thing in Red Dead Redemption 2 where the shop owner imprisoned a man in his basement, dressing him up like his dead son.)

What is Art to do? A mentally unwell man is obsessing over him, prowling the streets at night looking for him, potentially endangering himself and others in the process.
Art's so socially inept he doesn't know how to talk sense into the guy and if he just ignores him then things get so much worse for everyone.

        Anonymous

I actually don't really want to go overboard with edge when it comes to Crackdown.
I was hoping to hit that sweet middle spot of juxtaposing darker shit with occasional humor, kind of like Lisa the Painful.
Arthur might regularly deal with darker shit, but he still lives in the world of spandex-wearing weirdos, plus he can be a bit of a goofball himself.
I'm kind of trying to achieve that in Issue #0, but it's surprisingly difficult.

          Anonymous

Well, an obsessive fan might still be a workable angle. Give him someone he has to deal with since the alternative is worse and all that.
It's just the first thing that came to mind to give an anti-social almost no-life main character a supporting cast member who isn't borrowed from someplace else.

          Anyway, goodnight.

            Yeah, this could work.
It's already been established that Arthur hates the idea of inspiring people to do what he does.
I'll give it some more thought later.

What if Lila and Arthur went to some kind of rich kid gala/dinner dance thing together at some point?
Seems like a good scenario for some shenanigans to take place.

I suppose he's of fancy enough breeding the Doctors Carver might approve of him.

I know I haven't elaborated on Braun family that much, but the thing about them is that, besides old money, they have connections pretty much everywhere since their manor is a hotspot for the 1%.
Fuel industry, biotech, archeology – they stuck their thumb in every pie around over the centuries.
So yeah, I can actually imagine Lila's parents commending her for "making a sensible future investment for once" upon learning that they got together.

So, what's the deal with BUTTS?
    Is it dead?
    On hiatus?

It only lives so long as those interested in it continue to talk about it.
So if you're interested in it and want it to continue, then you must be the one to keep talking about it.

        Oh ok.
I'm only asking because the discussion around it ceased so abruptly during the last thread.
