was this scene the downfall of the walking dead? i feel like they asked too much of their normie audience and killed the hype, glenn was a proto k pop appeal and the red haired guy had a black girlfriend so that was the black woman appeal, they literally killed off a good chunk of their female audience
Regardless of personal feelings about the scene, it caused a huge dropoff in viewership. Just seeing comments about it on stuff like facebook, it is very common for normies to have dropped the show after the Glenn death.
A whole lot of people were watching that show and treating it like a soap opera friend simulator about family instead of the survival horror show it was supposed to be.
by the time the negan plot happens in the comics i was already sick of the entire series because its just the same thing over and over. negan was mildly entertaining so i finished the negan war arc and then stopped reading. the show started losing viewers by the negan plot too
It was the final straw. For a good couple of seasons people were already getting tired of the human drama focus, introducing characters just to kill them off an episode or two later, and everyone acting stupid for the sake of plot. People were already pissed off with Glenn and the dumpster and this made them turn away in droves.

the weirdest subplot in the show by far is that subplot with daryl and that guy with the fricked up face. i honestly couldnt follow it at all and dont remember why he imprisoned daryl and did all that shit to him. it was so confusing
