No its a humorless melodrama that fails to even succeed at being an emotionally charged thriller despite the obvious intent being to take the idea far more seriously. Its a really shitty fricking movie. Thet excised the comically over the top gore, the parody or corporate culture, the nature of his death is changed, and he even just magically overrides his programming at the end for his family whereas the original he was always forced to comply.
It was, it was truly a godawful painful fricking movie. The worst scene is when Michael Keaton sees the original suit and literally looks at the camera and goes
WOW WHO WOULD WANT THAT?! HE SHOULD BE ALL BLACK BECAUSE THATS MODERN AND WAY MORE REALISTIC AND COOL.
Then I swear to God he remains all black for the entire remaining duration of the movie until the very end. If you're familiar with pop culture imagine the surf Dracula tweet and also the DMC remake where the mop falls on Dante's head and then he takes it off. It outright insulted the original and assumes you automatically prefer their corporate line of reboot oriented thinking. Its legitimately an insult to the viewer and the original film. Condescension for the audience and expectations and a relatively early example of this line of thinking in Hollywood given it dropped in 2014, where the writers and director and everyone involved clearly had no respect or admiration and hated the very thing they were remaking.
i'd have had the black finish body be the prototype, keaton's character hates it because he doesn't think it looks futuristic enough >why's it black >it's a carbon fibre coated ceramic-titanium composite, it's one of the lightest and most durable materials we could find >but it's boring >pardon, sir? >it's boring. this is the future of law enforcement, he should be chromed out >chromed... out >yeah, chrome is futuristic, everyone knows that. black's just boring and not in that minimalist way either >sir, it's black for practical reasons >i don't care. make him shiny.
Yeah you'd have had that because you're not an insane coked out nepotism hire moron. Not one person involved in the remake has a soul at all. Just a husk meandering from one thing to ruin to the next.
Nah I always preferred how Murphy accepts their departure with as much grace as he can and by the end of the movie he's essentially a different person. He has these memories but he can't just stumble back into their lives as this cybernetic fricking zombie.
2 is a mess and why I hate it. I’ll take 3 over 2 just because of the consistency. Had great scene like this and than moronic shit a kid being a mob boss. Or re-programmed Robocop acting like a idiot for comedic effect. Or moronic plot point of putting a psycho drug dealers brain to unstoppable killing machine. The only good thing about 2 is Weller
The kid is not a mob boss, he's a soldier, and he's fantastic in the film. There have been plenty of gangsters and gangbangers his age, and younger IRL. Frank Miller wrote it, and he did a great job with Robo 2, go frick yourself filtered pleb.
The horror of the remake ending is this bulky terrifying murder bot with a human face skinned over a roboskull stomping into the room as his wife and kid smile.
The frick kind of life can he give them? He can't frick her and he can't meaningfully be there for his boy in any normal or human way. He's literally a fricking head and lungs and one hand? Why did they give him one human hand? I never fricking got that at all. Its like c3p0 screaming he's got a red arm for no reason. Just why?

>Why did they give him one human hand?
iirc there's a plot point where they're not legally allowed to have drones/robots on us soil, so their workaround is that murphy is still a human and it's a human hand pulling the trigger, but they can force him to do shit and have him think he's doing it of his own free will
the remake was shit. it removed all the socio-political commentary, criticism and satire.
that was the beauty of verhoeven's movies. They worked on a superficial level, but they also gave you something to think about and sink your teeth into.
I hated how the Total Recall remake got rid of the gore, the over-the-top humor and commentary (the 1990 movie has satirical elements even though is isn't as satirical as Robocop). Nolan's Batman was good but people got the wrong idea from it (that every franchise needs a dark and gritty reboot)
I want a dark and gritty reboot of The Love Boat where they deal with Norovirus, Somali pirates and the season finale has a rogue wave with a Poseidon Adventure rip-off plot.
Don't be silly. 2 is not quite as good as the first but still great. The remake is better than Robocop 3, but that's not saying much - it's pretty by the book.
There’s this weird scene in Robocop 2 when he’s dreaming and first sees his wife who looks topless, she than morphs into a topless now dead Lewis before turning into topless Dr Lazarus. I read there was going to be a romance between the two
From what I remember, they planned on suit being bulky. Why had to dismiss Arnold because he’d look like the Michelin Man in it. Why got a tall skinny guy like Weller
It was probably Weller idea to have him move slow. I know he did a lot studying of motion. And when watch him moving regularly off camera in the suit it looks horrible and fake as frick. He really sold the suit
I dunno
they turned it into a low budget vidya gaem
what phone do you have homosexual?
I honestly don't remember anything about the reboot other than the dude going "kill me, tell my wife it failed"
I thought the Robocop presentation and he spots a guy with warrants in the crowd by doing facial recognition and background checks was memorable.
no one wants one. no one wanted the reboot either but they aren't getting way with barely breaking even again
I liked it and I'd watch a sequel
I never saw this movie because I couldnt imagine it being better than the original.
Does the new one have a dick shooting scene?

Jesus it sounds so terrible

The suit is the least of the problems the movie has. Just soulless garbage trying to ape recent Iron Man success.

it wasn't the only one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Nj_wUb6Sw
Beyond cringe
Pity. I always though this was a worthy angle to explore. Robocop 2 just cruelly dismissed it.

Frick off Frank. You’re a hack.
But they could have done a Robodad TV series
The horror of the remake ending is this bulky terrifying murder bot with a human face skinned over a roboskull stomping into the room as his wife and kid smile.

Dredd is the only reboot that deserves a sequel
Up your butt and around the corner.
Just watch Robocop 2 (1990).
2 is worse order is 1-remake-2-3
Don't be silly. 2 is not quite as good as the first but still great. The remake is better than Robocop 3, but that's not saying much - it's pretty by the book.
your taste is so bad. frick
I stand by my taste. Get on my level
you're NUTS
imagine a remake of 2 but with cyber George Floyd, played by Jonathan Majors
>FENTA! FENTA!
The hit must have quite intense.
no thanks
Even Joel Kinoman couldn't salvage this movie.
Amazon either going to make a movie or TV series. I’m betting they’re waiting to see how successful the game is
>woke instead of ballsless
great…
because Prime Directives went so well, right? This is hubris manifest
john boyega
SCROTES LEAVE
He was probably thinking of his wife.
There’s this weird scene in Robocop 2 when he’s dreaming and first sees his wife who looks topless, she than morphs into a topless now dead Lewis before turning into topless Dr Lazarus. I read there was going to be a romance between the two
>reboot sucks
>anon cries on Cinemaphile about not getting a sequel
Many such cases. Sad!
Robocop should not be Iron Man 2.0. They could’ve made him like that in the original. A leaner suit. But Verhoeven wanted him to be a waking tank
From what I remember, they planned on suit being bulky. Why had to dismiss Arnold because he’d look like the Michelin Man in it. Why got a tall skinny guy like Weller
did you nerds watch RoboDoc yet?
It was probably Weller idea to have him move slow. I know he did a lot studying of motion. And when watch him moving regularly off camera in the suit it looks horrible and fake as frick. He really sold the suit
you need to upgrade
Wish I could upgrade my wife.
