Spider-Man was still on the air in '97, so this is taking place during the 4th or 5th season of Spider-Man, so that's Hydro clone Marry Jane.

Demayo is no longer directing the show, even if he says "yes that's the real mj Peter found her because superhero shenanigans"
If tomorrow Feige announces the continuation of that Spiderman, the writer and director of that hypothetical show can say "No, what you saw in X-Men 97 was not the real MJ" and that's it.

      >Peter and Madame Web find MJ in another universe, but she got tired of waiting for Peter and married some guy named Paul, so she refuses to go back regardless
      >Heartbroken Peter returns to his own universe in defeat, only to find Hydro-MJ waiting for him at home; she somehow survived and self-stabllized and is no longer at risk of evaporating (don't care how, it just is)
      >Peter has his doubts, but they quickly fade as the two of them test the coverage of their flood insurance in a passionate night of love
      >From her little dimension, Madame Web watches them with a smirk and says something about how the heart always knows best
Frick it, this is my new headcanon ending.

You know who wouldn't cheat on his hot redheaded wife with a hot redheaded clone? That's right, Peter Parker!
    What's YOUR excuse, Cyclops!?!?

AND YOU KNOW WHO, upon finding out they had a clone, would use it as an excuse for a threesome rather than angst about who he likes better? That's right, MJ Watson!
    What's YOUR excuse, Jean Grey!?!?

Disney can do Spider-Man shows but not movies and the 90's show is one of the ones they have full rights over. Only Spectacular and MTV have red tape on them since Sony produced them.

            >first of there is no more story left to tell
Blatantly false, but even then it's most likely that the show will run in parallel to X-Men '97 before catching up.

            >secondly due to copyright issues of spider-man
Disney owns the animated show, just like how they own the X-Men. Both are on Disney Plus.

Anymore feeble quibbling? It's going to be happening, so you better brace yourself.

This. Basically a total fresh start for the newcomers so Marvel can get an audience, and then they can explain the how and why for the veterans.

That's honestly fine. I was never crazy for space and time travel Spider-Man and that take on the character exploded after Spider-Verse -- which I do love. More street-level episodic Spider-Man adventures and less SINS OF MY FATHER PART 389.

It's kind of funny how the season finale is happening but all people are zeroing in online right now is the Peter/MJ cameo and what it implies.

Not necessarily. The pilot for Spider-Man 98 could be Peter's journey through Victorian England where he encounters Cleatus Kassidy haven taken the place of Jack the Ripper after killing the real one who's actually a creation of Mr Sinster in this universe.

      Anonymous

Yeah, that sounded like bullshit when it was new and it's still bullshit now. Likely Semper or whomever just making something up at random for the people who wouldn't stop asking about whether Peter would find MJ or not.

        Anonymous

True but still I think it'd be a decent pilot for a Revival. Especially if Mr Sinster actually interacted even briefly with the 3 of them.

Nah, I think the show would peter out pretty quickly if it was all contained episodic stories. I've mentioned before how Absolute Carnage was the most likely direction the story would go into, after that they could have that lead into Toxin and Back In Black

            Anonymous

Semper was definitely not thinking of stories that hadn't even been published yet. We know a few of his plans though this site seems to be mixing in speculation with ideas that were actually confirmed https://spiderman-animated.fandom.com/wiki/Unproduced_Sixth_Season

Not like we don't have plenty of interviews from the staff.
                >MAA: "Carnage" marked your final contribution to the series, and the final appearance of the ever-popular Venom and Carnage. Had you stayed on, would you have used either character in another story?

                >Berkowitz: Venom was starting to show his age, but Carnage still had a lot of potential.

They were done with Venom and the script he wrote for Spider-Man Finds Mary Jane also put an end to Carnage.

I wonder if they'll try to adapt that script Semper made that actually told the Victorian England story.
