Lucasfilm under kennedy is incapable of building upon success, remember, under George Lucas, every season of Clone Wars was better than the last.
The entire reputation of The Mandalorian is based on an 8/10 first episode and a 7/10 second episode. It is dreck that fails at absolutely everything it sets out to do. The world building is shit. The acting is shit. The characters are shit. The episode stories are shit. The arcs are shit. The lore is shit.

People who repeat this are the same people who dropped it after third episode and returned to it much, much later.
Even the biggest shills try to pretend it didn't happen with them, so depends on you if you want to wait 3+ hours for buildup.
There wasn't really anywhere else for the series to go after the end of the second season. It would have been unsatisfying for most of the audience if Mando just went back to being an ordinary bounty hunter after handing off Yeed to Luke. So, if they were going to make a third season, they had to raise the stakes somehow.
Of course, the right call would have been to just end the series after the second season and only have Mando show up as a side character later on in other shows, but there was no way Disney wasn't going to capitalize on the success of this show.
My fren asked if he can watch some Mandalorian at my house on his Xbox. I scolded him, told him no, and informed him if I caught him watching this homosexual show I would immediately destroy the Xbox he was watching it on with a hammer.
