yes and then the stupid manufacturers stopped making them JUST as they were about to release glasses free 3DTVs, they mucked things up with stupid standards for glasses, for bluray players, HDMI and poor conversions

      it will come back eventually
AI can turn any 2D kino into a 3D kino now, no need to buy everything you already own
and now there's 3DTVs with multiple viewing angles, so a whole family can watch 3D without glasses and they can be all over the room

he didn't drop the ball, manufacturers and studios did

Why is it that regular plastic 3D glasses would work in the theater, but the home sets needed batteries. Not to mention the tv had to be a special for some reason. Along with the bluray, and the bluray player. It "needed" too much for thee gimmick.

I don't have a 4K TV yet because I'm still in love with my 1080 3D TV. What boggles my mind is 3D is a simple software update to function on any modern set but they refuse to do it. Frick em.

It’s amazing they couldn’t sell this. The technology isn’t bad but the content was. Only a few movies made taking 3d into account, the rest had like 5 gimmick scenes and were then just shot normally.
They had 3d sports broadcasts for a bit but that never took off either. Feel like you could do a lot with floating stats and highlights, goal cameras and the like. Boxing in 3d would be better.

I’m talking glasses free mind you. Glasses were always a problem.

Images don't "pop out" of the screen, but it appears like there's more depth in the screen itself.

The "3D" in 3DS was fricking terrible and no game even used the gimmick after the first year it was out

I think because of previous format failures a lot of companies, both studio and tv/blu ray manufacturers were too scared to go full on in promotion and lead the way. They hedged their bets and because of this it failed. For example, I bought a Sony TV top of the range 3D, with a matching Sony 3D Blu Ray player, it was a Sony promotion. With the package they gave 2 Blu Ray movies, Cars 1 and 2. The movies were released in 3D Blu Ray, but Sony sent me 2D versions.
