What's the point of doing a graphics update on a game that isn't even that old or bad looking? It's not like it was originally made of 3 polygons like spyro
Remasters aren't there just for graphical updates but also for QOL improvements. Epic Mickey had bugs and issues involving the camera that were addressed in the Japanese version only.
The game was fundamentally unfinished at it's initials release, even the basic camera was broken. Nintendo fixed the issues in the Japan release since they own the rights there, but that version was never ported anywhere else.
Not that Anon but that's a very big overexaggeration.
Alright butthole, how does that contradict what I said? Steamboat Willie is public domain, which means a version of Mickey is PD, and is already having multiple uses. Disney now can no longer rely solely on the law to control him, they need to actually use marketing to compete.
Not that Anon but as proven by just how much Disney owns of Mickey and how badly others have been handling Steamboat Willie, Disney doesn't have to compete with anything.
Reminder that these were never going to be in the game and were only drawn for boundary purposes.
Whats funny is that with what Modern Disney is occasionally willing to show, Gravity Falls and Owl House being two examples, there is now somewhat of a real chance of this actually happening
Owl house pitched itself as an even darker version of gravity falls and then dropped all body horror designs mid season one. The only midly offending one was the main bad guy.
I very much doubt they would have ever went full horror. These were pie in the sky concept images. This is Disney we are talking about. I very much doubt they would be okay with their characters portrayed like this. Ever.
I'm just happy we're getting more stuff to wash away the bad taste of modern Kingdom Hearts.
I am so NOT looking to Oswald being haphazardly shoehorned out of nowhere into the overcrowded main cast in KH4.
Because we don't need yet another unecessary addition the cast of one-note characters who have more that overstayed their welcome.
I am so not looking forward to that Yuna-eyed homosexual from KH3's secret ending.
The Wii version had this annoying thing that locked you out of stages that were "finished" and you'd have to start over to go in again and collect everything.
Baffling choice for what is essentially a collectathon game.
never
I'm suprised we're even getting this
the company that made it is dead, disney interactive fricked itself and now ambitious stuff like epic mickey will never be continued again
Call me high on hopium but this and disneys other gaming ventures has me hoping they might be trying to do video games again and them doing this is testing if epic Mickey is a viable property to revisit.
>I'm suprised we're even getting this
disney now has to compete for ownership of mickey in the public eye, marketing-wise. This is a means for them to reinforce "want the legit Mickey, we have him". Or do you think it's a coincidence it's happening in the same year of public domain Steamboat Willie?
>I'm suprised we're even getting this

Oswald too. Steamboat Willie isn't the only thing getting the horror treatment.
Wait.
Isn't this more complicated than classic Mickey? Revived Oswald is entirely based off his old design, modern Mickey isn't.

All of Walt's stuff with Oswald hit public domain this year and Disney's trademarked Oswald design is blue shorts versus the original red overalls. Hell, it's been argued that Universal might not have ever actually renewed the copyrights on early Oswald stuff and he might have been public domain this whole time.
>I'm suprised we're even getting this

That's not how it works. Mickey is not public domain, the singular Steamboat Willie cartoon is. Disney still own the trademark for Mickey, you can't just go and make an unlicensed Mickey cartoon now.
Alright butthole, how does that contradict what I said? Steamboat Willie is public domain, which means a version of Mickey is PD, and is already having multiple uses. Disney now can no longer rely solely on the law to control him, they need to actually use marketing to compete.
The Disney company has a certain intolerance towards Disney comic book material and it started back in the days of Walt Disney. Sad, but it's a fact. It's a shame they turned it down, because it was a great idea to bring Donald to a better place, not to be a butt-monkey in Kingdom Hearts all the time. And probably Disney doesn't like to popularize Donald, who is already more popular and better than Mickey.
>Pure Mickey
None of you realize how big that is. That means they’re implementing the original planned concept of Mickey’s design and gameplay changing depending how corrupt you make him
Isn't a toned down version of that already in the game, where if you use thinner solutions a lot Mickey has more ink running off him, while using paint more means he has less ink floating off? Or was I just imagining it?
. There's five empty slots and there were six unlockable costumes on EM2, so either they're not finishing porting the last one or they scrapped it.
Either way, it's a great idea to bring to EM1. One of the main issues that game had was how lackluster the rewards are for your decisions. Thjs gives you an actual incentive.
There were two, I remember because I replayed it last year.
There were movies you had to collect if you gave enough to the cinema owner at Downtown USA you got two public domain movies. One was the Mickey Mouse cartoon about the mad doctor I think and the other was a Oswald cartoon about knights.
Not a lot but it was something. The main downside of Epic Mickey was its lack of additional content.
It's coming to every console + PC, it's just that Switch owners are usually likelier to get a scrimblo platformer so that's why they revealed it in a Nintendo Direct.
When I went to California Adventure and asked the Cast Members if Oswald would be in for meet and greets, they said, "Sorry, unfortunately, he is taking the day off to drive with Ortensia for some R&R." That was the best excuse they could have given me.
The Mickey franchise would've made for a good karting game, the only one that ever got made was Mickey Speedway for the N64 that kinda sucked.
It's an 8/12 mascot platformer that's only noteworthy for being made in an era where the mascot platformer genre was effectively extinct. It's on the level of Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom in terms of quality.
>Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom
This game was unironically good. Looking back on it it was kinda a Mario 64 ripoff but Spongebob Mario 64 is a good game concept and they did it well.
I thought it was implied most of them are Disneyland animatronics, rather than the actual Pete. At least Pete Pan and Petetronic are, since they're part of the attractions they came from.
Last of Us is a shit example. At least the other ones are remakes for games that are decade+ old and there is a noticeable difference. They're just autistic about TLoU for some reason to the point there are more remasters and remakes than there are actual titles in the series.
Daily reminder that as an American taxpayer, you support genocide simply by existing. If you don't support the abolition of taxation, you're complicit in mass murder every second of every day.
Unironically everything. >Rushed deadline >Mangled plotline with last minute rewrites >Shitty co-op and even shittier AI if you don't have a partner >Runtime of sub 5 hours in comparison to the original's 15+ >Cheery tone and artstyle misses the point of the original entirely >Obscure quest objectives and arcane puzzle design ensure only the most dedicated autists will see the best ending >Promised musical manifests only as a handful of Mad Doctor songs >Shit bosses, of which there are a grand total of three >Voice acting is largely obnoxious >Bugs and glitches aplenty >Only new areas were blown in the trailers >Sold so poorly it tanked the franchise
I have a special hatred for EM2. It broke my heart.
Agreed outside >Voice acting is largely obnoxious
Shit opinion, the voice acting was great and the definite voice for Oswald and Ortensia, if you want shit voice acting look at them in Speedstorm
>Sold so poorly it tanked the franchise
That's actually false, the series was shelved before it even released due to Bob Iger wanting out of the games industry. It quite literally didn't matter how much it sold.
If Disney wanted out of the games industry, then why did they release the extremely expensive Disney Infinity less than a year later? Your reasoning doesn't add up.
Probably because
1) DI was already knee deep in development and they released it to try and recoup costs, just like EM2. Infinity was revealed only a few months after EM2's release.
2) Disney Infinity was cashing in on the "toys to life" craze, and was most likely considered a toy line first and foremost.
Oswald is a bit of a jealous autist so like with the animatronics of Mickey's friends and his Walt statue I assume he made it for his own sake, then it got covered in Mickey junk.
that part where you enter his fortress and it's just constant posters of mickey mouse over and over and over again was quite creepy the first time I played it
paints the image that Oswald is legitimately obsessed
Oswald is a bit of a jealous autist so like with the animatronics of Mickey's friends and his Walt statue I assume he made it for his own sake, then it got covered in Mickey junk.
Epic Mickey was a solid 7. It had plenty of flaws but I still loved it a lot when I was a kid and I was super into the history of Disney. I got the second game and I barely played the first level. I'm not sure why.
What's the point of doing a graphics update on a game that isn't even that old or bad looking? It's not like it was originally made of 3 polygons like spyro
I'm hoping for full voice acting.
At least the frame rate will be better
Remasters aren't there just for graphical updates but also for QOL improvements. Epic Mickey had bugs and issues involving the camera that were addressed in the Japanese version only.
Not having to waste your money to buy a Wii
Do Wiis cost lots now?
I bought my current one for like 40 bucks.
>Xbox backwards compatibility got the shit sequel over the original
Pain
The game was fundamentally unfinished at it's initials release, even the basic camera was broken. Nintendo fixed the issues in the Japan release since they own the rights there, but that version was never ported anywhere else.
>it's initials release
moron.
>.
moron
The original looked like ass.
It looked good for the system it was designed for.
And said system was barely stronger than a Gamecube.
The Wii was a standard definition console
I'm hoping the remake isn't a buggy mess
>What's the point of doing a graphics update on a game that isn't even that old or bad looking?
Because it was trapped on the Wii.
You are joking right? The Wii versión looked like an early N64 game
Not that Anon but that's a very big overexaggeration.
Not that Anon but as proven by just how much Disney owns of Mickey and how badly others have been handling Steamboat Willie, Disney doesn't have to compete with anything.
I need you to understand that it's older than you think it is, and that it was exclusive to a console that had the specs of the frigging Gamecube.
More Oswald content for Oswald chads.
>we’ll never get this version of the game
Fricking heart breaking.
Reminder that these were never going to be in the game and were only drawn for boundary purposes.
The number of projects that got destroyed because concept art leaked and was way better than the trailers is hilarious
Whats funny is that with what Modern Disney is occasionally willing to show, Gravity Falls and Owl House being two examples, there is now somewhat of a real chance of this actually happening
Neither of those shows are associated with fricking Mickey Mouse.
Owl house pitched itself as an even darker version of gravity falls and then dropped all body horror designs mid season one. The only midly offending one was the main bad guy.
Lich Blot's kinda funny to think about in hindsight given how many weird parallels Epic Mickey had with Breath of the Wild already.
Disney could have been ahead of the curve in the creepy animatronic market.
I very much doubt they would have ever went full horror. These were pie in the sky concept images. This is Disney we are talking about. I very much doubt they would be okay with their characters portrayed like this. Ever.
Concept art is just what is says it is, concept
This shit was probably shot down immediately after it was made
we'll be able to see oswalds den of pure jealous madness in HD
Any changes?
I'm just happy we're getting more stuff to wash away the bad taste of modern Kingdom Hearts.
I am so NOT looking to Oswald being haphazardly shoehorned out of nowhere into the overcrowded main cast in KH4.

I am so not looking forward to that Yuna-eyed homosexual from KH3's secret ending.
>Implying this wouldn’t be the best and most hyped thing KH has ever done
Oswald should have been Aqua's Disney buddy in the World of Darkness.
KH3 is good, your seethe only makes you look like a homosexual
The Wii version had this annoying thing that locked you out of stages that were "finished" and you'd have to start over to go in again and collect everything.

>Small World boss in HD
Why? The game was shit.
I liked it.
When are we getting this instead?
never
I'm suprised we're even getting this

>steamboat willie is public domain, quick, re-release the game that was made by people who actually cared about disney animation
makes sense
Oswald too. Steamboat Willie isn't the only thing getting the horror treatment.
Wait.
Isn't this more complicated than classic Mickey? Revived Oswald is entirely based off his old design, modern Mickey isn't.

Never forget what they took from us
I am more a Epic Goofy kind of guy. Do we have art of that?
There's concept art for a quackshot sequel by the devs who did monster boy.
Disney rejected the pitch
Screw that - bring back Cold Shadow.
The Disney company has a certain intolerance towards Disney comic book material and it started back in the days of Walt Disney. Sad, but it's a fact. There's actually concepts for it, but, the idea was canned.
Never forget Sonic Colors Ultimate.
that didn't have oswald in it
Why? Was that game your first bad remaster?
Back to zero
Leaked early build
>Pure Mickey
None of you realize how big that is. That means they’re implementing the original planned concept of Mickey’s design and gameplay changing depending how corrupt you make him
That's cool, but does that actually mean they're going to make proper good-bad endings?
Ooooh. That IS big, if that's true.
Isn't a toned down version of that already in the game, where if you use thinner solutions a lot Mickey has more ink running off him, while using paint more means he has less ink floating off? Or was I just imagining it?
The trailer only said “hero”
>Pure Mickey
Wonder if that means they're gonna throw in the corruption mechanic or if it'll just be relegated to unlockable skins
I wonder this too, but since Disney still doesn't acknowledge Runaway Brain we probably aren't gonna get anything as fun as the conceptual stuff.
likely costumes back ported from epic mickey 2.
It's almost certainly this
. There's five empty slots and there were six unlockable costumes on EM2, so either they're not finishing porting the last one or they scrapped it.
Either way, it's a great idea to bring to EM1. One of the main issues that game had was how lackluster the rewards are for your decisions. Thjs gives you an actual incentive.
>actual cartoon shorts included as extras
Was that in the original game? I can't remember.
Yes, both games had unlockable shorts.
There were two, I remember because I replayed it last year.

No Minnie skin, no buy
>only for the switch
>not porting to atleast PC
Justify this mindset in 2024. Or will ninten never get a clue especially with the old guard still in charge
It is coming to PC
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1522160/Disney_Epic_Mickey_Rebrushed/
>developed by the guys behind the recent Spongebob games
Not an awful choice, I guess.
It's coming to every console + PC, it's just that Switch owners are usually likelier to get a scrimblo platformer so that's why they revealed it in a Nintendo Direct.
Oswald is cute
wonder if it's just a graphics update or more
why is his ASS SO BIG
Depression kind of overweight
hahaha, ebin :DDDD
>More remasters and remakes.
Oh boy, i can't wait to play the same game again and again.
I love him so much
He's taken
Not if I have anything to say about it.
He's double taken, tho
If he's double taken, then he can sure as Hell be triple taken!
Not for long
He will be my boyfriend
Will you get along with all 420 of his tykes?
When I went to California Adventure and asked the Cast Members if Oswald would be in for meet and greets, they said, "Sorry, unfortunately, he is taking the day off to drive with Ortensia for some R&R."
That was the best excuse they could have given me.
Well played
The gameplay snippet left a bad taste in my mouth, I want to be excited but idk
oh no.
oh no.
oh no.
why did they make it look worse.
oh god what is mickeyjunk mountain going to look like
oh no.
They removed the soul, Epic Mickey has a style with the Switch version clearly lacks.
Post the other shots. Looks pretty good to me.
Looks good, hopefully then its just the switch version looking like shit
Wow it's been so long it feels weird coming back to where it all began.
>Got this game for Christmas the year it came out
>Played it for an hour
>Never touched it again
Am I missing out? Will it be worth revisiting?

Explain.
I thought it was implied most of them are Disneyland animatronics, rather than the actual Pete. At least Pete Pan and Petetronic are, since they're part of the attractions they came from.
I think they just wanted Pete in the game
>Seeing Br'er Rabbit in game
>another remake
Modern videogames are even more creatively bankrupt than modern comics.
Kys
Kingdom Hearts fans need to be gassed.
Stop making me feel old
The average age of the posters in that image is probably about 12
Last of Us is a shit example. At least the other ones are remakes for games that are decade+ old and there is a noticeable difference. They're just autistic about TLoU for some reason to the point there are more remasters and remakes than there are actual titles in the series.
Mickey used to do that stuff.
Video game characters like Mario and Sonic are directly based on classic cartoon characters like Mickey and Donald Duck.
There's beena surprising amount of westaboo art for this announcement.
Japs love Disney, you didn't know?
they love mickey mouse
and chinks love frozen according to my racist chink girlfriend. i can believe it, they fetishize pale skin over there
its over disneybros the LGBTHIV+ we try to pander gonna boycott our vidya
literally who
I will now pre order 10 copies
oswald said I can pirate so I will pirate
Wait what? Why?
Bob Iger supports Israel
What did he say exactly? Or is this just something he said or indicated coming to light recently?
It's almost like he's israeli or something, is Twitter really this narrow minded?
That, and I think the specific reason given was Marvel adding their Israeli superheroine to the MCU:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_(character)
So they're just racist?
What else is new?
Sorry I want more Epic Mickey and more Oswald content I don’t care that you support one genocider over the other genocider
Daily reminder that as an American taxpayer, you support genocide simply by existing. If you don't support the abolition of taxation, you're complicit in mass murder every second of every day.
Twitter people really can't separate art from the artist, huh?
When your entiee life revolves around being terminally online, that much isn't possible.
Why was the second one so bad?
Disney literally closed down Disney Interactive mid-development. It's a miracle it even shipped.

they didn't add full voice like in EM2
