Its more like a giant dam, the writer's strike is rains stopping, there's still tons of time before the reservoir is empty.

Real-time generation of AI content will be possible before the reservoir drains, of course. Less than ten years.

except for a few shows there's a long delay from writing to production
impact won't be felt for a while, people will be wondering where season 2 of xyz show is etc

The 2007 strike lasted only 3 months and that had consequences that were felt to this day.

It'll be interesting to see if this strike surpasses that, how badly Hollywood will fall. They already released a bunch of box office bombs so this is just another nail in their coffin

Hollywood producers and studios are even more arrogant and out of touch now, it will go longer.

Hollywood is incredibly in-bed with wall street and silicon valley now, so they don't immediately feel as threatened. Even though shit is hitting the fan in real-time, probably harder than it ever has in the entire history of Hollywood.

        >studios and producers are out of touch
If they were out of touch they’d end the strike. The writers have no power at all. It’s like if the newspapers went on strike right when the internet started becoming mainstream. Literally exiting themselves while their competition goes unchallenged and gains marketshare. I welcome AI at this point. I barely consume media anymore anyways.

TV shows are not written by a single person. Do you not understand what a giant workload that is? Writers rooms exist because when you have tons of people in a room bouncing ideas around new and improved stuff is created unlike someone sitting alone in a room typing away without any feedback or constructive criticism. How can you be such a gigantic idiot that you can’t understand this? This is how TV has been written since day one. And talk about projecting when you talk about social victimhood

If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought that this whole WGA fiasco was some decades long chess game scheme to underpay good writers. Like they underpay the first generation of good writers but then intentionally replace them with bad ones so the public won’t be as sympathetic with their cause.

the studios are smart. last time the writers caved for dvd royalties, or something like that. a month after the strike ends boom: Hulu goes live which renders that perk all but pointless. they knew the internet was going to be the future.

I hope Hollywood implodes but honestly half the time it felt like the writers didn't matter with this shit
Even if a movie or show got an absolutely elite writer's room, 1 of 2 things would happen:
    >1: Studio cucks any script they produce, because some fricking focus group had a slightly miffed review and the execs freak out because they can't get the lowest common denominator crowd
    >2: A suit high up in the chain of command forces the production to hire son/nephew/niece/daughter (classic move) and they wield an ungodly amount of influence because everyone has to kowtow to their bosses if they want to stay in the business

If that ever happened to any project I created, I'd work those cheeto fingered fricks to the bone, and no amount of union muscle could stop me. I would openly denigrate everyone on my team, and be as much of an eccentric, egotistical frick until they got their asses in gear and worked with me on my project.

I would show up at union organizers homes with a team of paid protestors day in and day out until they capitulated to my demand. I would do this until I either ran out of money, or was fired from the project, and even then I'd still go out with a smile because I got to drive those lazy, entitled, arrogant fricks crazy for at least a little while.

I don't have anything professionally done, but I'm creating an independent post apocalyptic horror comedy thing with Daz studio and hand created 3D models/morphs for daz.

Its incredibly hard, so right now I use a lot of stock assets or things I bought in Daz. However, all of the characters were made from morphs I created from scratch. I sculpted them in blender, wrapped them, and now I can use them as Daz morphs.

I know its not anything professional, but I feel like I'm finally creating something. Like, I'm not just a guy who complains about media, I'm actually making media. Naturally, I'm protective of it.

          >and be as much of an eccentric, egotistical frick until they got their asses in gear and worked with me on my project.

in my country it is basically expected of artists to be toxic and "insane" as to never lose integrity. Basically if an artist is a conformist his shit sucks, so nobody watches it. You can tell a lot about a movie here based on how much of a junkie/alcoholic the director presesents himself as.
american cultural influence, and literal financial imperialism, has killed the zoomer generation of artists.
It's all cacophony with them, all just angst, no real meaning.

          >in my country it is basically expected of artists to be toxic and "insane" as to never lose integrity.

this is the xasw in all of europe.
I am by all accounts, schizotypcial, in my country psychology is a KNOWN tool of the state since commie times, so nobody ever gets checked unless its serious.
i'm not a movie guy, i am more of a harsh self-expressiom guy. I miss self-expression. I literally can't do anything official, since 2020 there are so many red tape bullshits to cross.
I'm just gonna go full indian mode with a bunch of friends and recite anti-imperialism, anti-LGBT prose on the main square this carneval. I am going to make the imperialist remember, remember what they did to the indians.

this is a weird thing to predict where its going to land

on the one hand 99% of hollywood writers are drooling morons that produce slop unworthy of lobotomy patients

on the other hand, producers dont even care if their movies are good or make money since they can just infinite print money at 0% interest and use it to fund endless propaganda slop to demoralize or brainwash people

so...what gives first, the slop crank or the sloppers wrist that turns it

Remember, according to Cinemaphile economics, films don't have to make money because Hollywood gets unlimited funding from Blackrock. This means the writers will win the strike because the producers can easily just give them more money without hurting the bottom line.
