It'd be decent if they didn't job out Fisk again. Ruined the whole thing for me especially considering they're trying to set him up as a major threat for the street level heroes.
I didn't actually mind how Fisk was defeated in this show, it's not like Hawkeye where he just gets blown around by Kate until Maya arrives and just shoots him. Echo mind raping him by bringing him directly back to the memory of his father beating his mom was great but the finale as a whole was super abrupt.

Ran away, I don't think he can even be arrested at this point. The show kind of establishes that Kingpin can just walk around the streets in NY and casually murder people with impunity because the cops don't want to touch him.
It's just bland. Daredevil cameo in ep 1 was cool, that's it. The last ep was just dumb. Honestly, MCU should just scrap all their projects and get back to the drawing board for a few years.
Most of the Kingpin scenes were pretty good and even the supporting cast was likable enough, it's the forced in superpower element and rushed climax that really bogs down the show.
I wouldn't exactly call it mid, the new Percy Jackson show is mid. Echo is above average tier, it's nothing special but the actors are actually decent enough to elevate it.

But I think he's just saying that to "relate" to Maya's grandma before kidnapping her. Or he meant Wesley, his dad, even Maya's dad (those last two twisting the truth, as he did before about his dad "being killed").
Vanessa getting snapped would explain a few things, like why Kingpin is even active in the first place despite the deal they made in DD S3 and why he suddenly wants to connect to Maya.
The former because Matt no longer had any leverage over Fisk and the latter because since Fisk didn't have anyone close to left in his life, he just gravitated towards Maya.

The flashbacks in the first ep still take place during the blip, Vanessa has been confirmed to appear in Born Again and leaks imply she's an actual character in the present day but since Fisk makes absolutely no mention of her in Echo but implies that he's lost a loved one in the past and connects to Maya because he believes they only have each other now, it's not unreasonable to assume that Vanessa may be MIA for now.
It shits on old Kingpin too much. In s1 of DD he was basically a ghost, he had power but never did anything in person. Here he fricks up hot dog vendors in broad daylight during flashbacks set in his ghost days. In s1 of DD he also impressed Gao by knowing Chinese which felt like a way to ingratiate himself and manipulate her. Here he won't learn asl for someone he really cares about.

The characterization is inconsistent, if not directly incompatible.
It's not even a thing about him changing since the DD years due to whatever things happened to him offscreen, which would be understandable. In the same time frame (circa 2013, after the Chitauri attack on New York) we see him:
-In DD, as a recluse whose only human connections were Wesley, his Mom, and then Vanessa. He'd go to great lengths to not be known to the public, and kept a lot of distance between himself and the criminals that worked under him.
-In the MCU, as a loan shark who meets with his victims in person, he runs a gang of goofy gangsters, is friends with Maya's dad, "loves Maya like a daughter", etc.
The guy learned Chinese to deal with Madame Gao, but he couldn't be bothered to learn ASL for his "beloved daughter" over like 20 years.
It's just not the same character; same actor, same general performance, same general backstory, but the bones of the character aren't quite the same.
And then he puts on his rhino suit.
