Depends on how they do it. Best case scenario, talking scenes with Peter Parker or Norman would be puppet rigged as a cost-cutting measure. While Spider-Man action scenes get more than enough attention they need.

Oh they dropped the ball big time
I'm fine with Harry and Norman being around. Personally, I'd have Harry as the bullied kid who Peter protects. Harry should be the type that people would think could become a school shooter, not Peter. The latter has a chip on his shoulder, but is otherwise well adjusted enough. Harry's the one with all the issues. Harry's a disappointment to Norman, and he sees Peter as the son he felt he always deserved. This would inevitably cause friction between Pete and Harry.

It's not Ditko if Pete's a socially awkward nice guy. Dude had a chip on his shoulder and would blow up at anyone he perceived as slighting him. And a lot of the times, it'd get him into trouble.
It COULD be good if it was rooted in the 1960's and featured an objectivist Peter Parker echoed Ditko's political leanings. A marginalized nerd with a chip on his shoulder, initially using his powers for revenge and power fantasies and occasionally getting uppity at hippies for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps while idolizing great men like his uncle, industry titans, Norman Osborn, etc
I'm no fan of Randianism, it's stupid as hell but it makes for a more interesting protagonist trying to actually figure out what his morals are in an era of rapid social change and political turmoil. Like, an actual character arc. But modern audiences couldn't tolerate a flawed protagonist even if he does improve over time, unless he is Safe Flawed
Exactly. In the first 30 issues his main concern was protecting his aunt and uncle. And as a bullied teen who went through some shit he's at times angry, spiteful, jealous, selfish, but keeps his feelings bottled up 80% of the time because he knows better
And then he eventually realized he's wrong and that his actions are what makes him a good person. He rises above his physical and emotional roadblocks as he enters adulthood. God forbid any teenage boys should see someone they relate to instead of the golden passive feminist ally that modern media prescribes to them, so they instead turn to chud influencers
The kicker is that if things were slightly different, Peter could have turned into a villain or a selfish anti-hero, but he instead chose to take responsibility for his actions

Economical segregation. Once school became mixed, all the rich white familly started to move their kids away from public school and relocated in more white neighbourhood, costier to move in, so on average, less accessible to black families.
Meaning the initial neighborhoods and schools specifically started to lack funding which led to things getting worse because only poor and mostly black families continued to live there, whereas in the past, it was a mix of poor and rich families.

The specialized school system didn't start till the 70s.
But considering MCU Spider-Man was set in 2016, I don't think that's an issue.
The funny part is that Peter, the only white one, is still the main character.
They are brave enough to replace or even change the race of some characters, but Peter will always be white... there are still high chances he will be useless.
Interestingly this is only the contract Marvel has with Sony regarding the character rights, meanwhile Disney owns Marvel and this is a Disney show which means they could do whatever they want with him in theory
Of course, but there's nothing to enforce that mandate except Disney itself, meanwhile Sony has the threat of legal action dangling over them to stop them from fricking over Peter. If the people in charge of Disney one day decided they'd make more money if Peter was a fat trans crippled lesbian junkie, they could do it and there'd be nothing to stop them.
>make Norman black >you can still tell it's meant to be Norman >show a picture of all these young characters, some race bent >you can't even begin to imagine who the frick any of them are supposed to be
I think the guy on the right is supposed to be Harry? And that's only because of the green clothing, otherwise he doesn't have anything about him that would indicate a Harry-type of character. The easiest thing would've been to have him dress like an older man since 616 Harry always looked like he just got Norman's (expensive) hand-me-downs.
The last thing I want watch is a shitty show which features most of peter's friends as black people. I am sure many others feel the same way face it anon nobody is going to be watching this shit. I Have VERY low expectations for it after the train wreck of such crap like Velma to be honest.
It's just more blacks. Not a single one of those fricks will be Italian, Polish, or some kinda hispanic. Give me my Latin Kings representation, Marvel.
Asian goth gf? No idea who any of these people are, but this does intrigue me. But only because I'm a filthy coomer. But I'll only watch if her breasts are actually as big as in this fanart:
Why do I have to keep being reminded that people who aren't me exist? Why won't everyone just be me? I'm literally being oppressed by the existence of people who aren't me because I'm not allowed to kill them all.
White people are best because I'm white and any group I'm in is the best group by default. If I wasn't in the best group, that would mean that I'm not the best person, and I refuse to believe that I'm anything less than the bestest, strongest, smartest, handsomest, perfectest, most importantest person ever. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be me, I would be some other person who doesn't matter. But I am me, so I have to be right. I can't be wrong about anything ever. I'm me.
>ditko >no jj or bugle cast >Young Aunt may instad of her being old >peter with backing from Norman Osborn >only supporting cast member whose actually apidey related is Harry as some frickboi. Rest are random Marvel characters from the 2000s and 2010s >peter having friends on high school
Look spec had the college cast but it was closer than this shitshows red flags ever were.
>Young Aunt may instad of her being old
Never made sense she was old. She's his aunt, not his grandma. Shit was weird even in the 60s. You had fans sending letters asking why the hell she was so old.
You think it’s weird? The Golden Girls cast were largely meant to be women in their mid-to-late FIFTIES. You’d think they were grannies. And this was how older women were mostly depicted in the 80s. Meanwhile decade later Meryl Streep (46) was still considered too old to be the romantic interest for Clint Eastwood (65) when they were making Bridges of Madison County.
>only supporting cast member whose actually apidey related is Harry as some frickboi
Which is weird as frick since Classic Harry was the meek pushover type, while Peter was the more dominant guy.
This series was dead as soon as they announced it wasn't MCU Peter's backstory, but an alternate "MCU-esque" universe. If it's MCU, make it MCU. If it's separate, then make it fricking different. Now we get to suffer through the worst of both worlds. I was actually excited to see street level freshman MCU Peter. Oh well.
Finally someone said it. This was the perfect opportunity to fill in a gap on the MCU while also functioning as a standalone cartoon for kids where they could introduce smaller scale Spidey villains. Now it's all fricked up.
It's not Ditko if Pete's a socially awkward nice guy. Dude had a chip on his shoulder and would blow up at anyone he perceived as slighting him. And a lot of the times, it'd get him into trouble.
Can Spider-Man measure up on a team full of drunks, uncontrollable monsters and a several super-villains/assassins with no powers whatsoever???
Ah the classics.
Are they basing this on the Reginald Hudlin, Harvard educated homie and programming head of BET, penned miniseries? It's weird that Aaron McGruder not only called out Hudlin's hubris but also him writing Black Panther (which he called Speak Chucking Coon or something like that.) all I know is the streets still have live for Boondocks and no love for Hudlin.
If they wanted a more diverse cast why didn't they set it when Peter was working at ESU? When Peter was working with Steve (Black Guy), Philip Chang (Asian Guy), and Debra Whitman (Woman)? Like have it be a college staff comedy and a super hero show. Why do we need another fricking Spider-Man in high school adaption?
lol remember when Stan talked about college-age people earnestly writing letters to them? Geez, people cared back then.
>Why do we need another fricking Spider-Man in high school adaption?
Because Ultimate Spider-Man was a huge hit in the 00s.
Ultimate was good because it offered another book for changes to occur and not affect the main one. If they did a series with a Peter who took longer to get out from his Ditko phase that'd make for a compelling series.
Basically this.
[...]
[...]
It COULD be good if it was rooted in the 1960's and featured an objectivist Peter Parker echoed Ditko's political leanings. Like, an actual character arc. But modern audiences couldn't tolerate a flawed protagonist even if he does improve over time, unless he is Safe Flawed
I just hope anons don't get mad at this copypasta. It's a good idea, just don't spam it. Anyway, Crime Master would be the perfect villain to use as both support and critique of objectivism. How putting away one Crime Master or goon of the Crime Master will stop that one but it will keep spreading due to underlying factors and punishments not always working to stop evil. Plus they'd have no identity like Norman so they would always be one step ahead of Spidey slipping into crowds and running a crime empire from anywhere, making for a realistic and menacing villain. I've had the idea of combining Crime Master and Kraven for a storyline. Something similar to the Dark Knight. But yeah realism isn't always the answer but it could work here. Also Peter having less of a supporting cast and working alone in a modern or 60's era could translate well to showing what a lot of people feel right now, being isolated. I need to brush up on the details of objectivism but it would fit Peter well as a story idea since his origin is a nice example of that self-interest backfiring.
Also they should keep drawing him as a chud
Peter's face here looking authoritative and serious while saying by golly is funny. It's like when OneyNG does a manly voice while saying something goofy and childish.
Asian goth gf? No idea who any of these people are, but this does intrigue me. But only because I'm a filthy coomer. But I'll only watch if her breasts are actually as big as in this fanart: [...]
Meh if they were to put in a goth, Jessica Jones or Rogue would've worked better. Or maybe Psylocke or Firestar.

Does anyone know if this is still supposed to be canon to the MCU?
If so, making Tombstone Peter's peer is a good idea.
Including Nico as a teen in New York is dumb, though. How can she be one of the Runaways if she's on the complete other side of the country?
I think it can be pretty good if they can handle somethings correctly.
Not sure what the frick they are doing with saying it's Not MCU but being MCU like
So this was originally announced as an MCU prequel with a different title and now it is some Ditko amalgamation with a sporadic mix of modern stuff stuffed in? Who is this for?
What I’d give to see the behind the scenes stuff that happened with this series >Hey guys, we’re making Spider-Man: Freshman Year, an animated prequel series to Spider-Man’s appearance in the MCU! >Okay it’s not STRICTLY connected to the MCU, it’s kind of a What If thing where certain events happened differently >Okay now it’s completely separated from the MCU >And now it’s called Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
>inspired by Steve Ditko >looks absolutely nothing like Steve Ditko >it's the 1960s, Peter is the only white person on the show, everyone else is diverse and dressed like it's the 90s >the one thing that made Ditko's Spider-Man unique will of course be completely avoided
Wow. Can't wait.
I hate this trend of "Oh yeah we're totally inspired by the older original stuff" but then it just feels like an uncanny valley version of what they were going for. Like they Buffalo Bill'ed the original idea and are wearing it as if no one will notice the difference.
It will be puppet rigged toonboom garbage
It's Ditko inspiration is going to thimble deep as well

But considering MCU Spider-Man was set in 2016, I don't think that's an issue.
Comic Midtwon's just a regular public school.
>White hispanics
Do we really need 4 fricking Miles? This is getting out of hand.
*DUCKTALES THEME INTENSIFIES*
The fact they unironically making Peter a white savior trope with dei revisionism is hilarious.
WOW IT'S JUST LIKE THE NO WAY HOME CAST
AWESOME!!!!
Amadeus Cho?
Nico from Runaways?
WTF are they thinking?
I do not recognize this cast. I will not watch your show.
That's ok. The MCU Spider-Man cast was unrecognizable, and it managed to eke out a few bucks.
The funny part is that Peter, the only white one, is still the main character.
They are brave enough to replace or even change the race of some characters, but Peter will always be white... there are still high chances he will be useless.
The executives decreed it.
Interestingly this is only the contract Marvel has with Sony regarding the character rights, meanwhile Disney owns Marvel and this is a Disney show which means they could do whatever they want with him in theory
They likely have a similar internal mandate. It'd be silly not to hold everyone to the same standard when it comes to the character's integrity.
Why in the frick is a there a goth chick? Black football players existed in the late-60s, especially in upstate New York.
>make Norman black
>you can still tell it's meant to be Norman
>show a picture of all these young characters, some race bent
>you can't even begin to imagine who the frick any of them are supposed to be
I think the guy on the right is supposed to be Harry? And that's only because of the green clothing, otherwise he doesn't have anything about him that would indicate a Harry-type of character. The easiest thing would've been to have him dress like an older man since 616 Harry always looked like he just got Norman's (expensive) hand-me-downs.
The last thing I want watch is a shitty show which features most of peter's friends as black people. I am sure many others feel the same way face it anon nobody is going to be watching this shit. I Have VERY low expectations for it after the train wreck of such crap like Velma to be honest.
Who the frick are these people?
Well its accurate to new york not at least
It's just more blacks. Not a single one of those fricks will be Italian, Polish, or some kinda hispanic. Give me my Latin Kings representation, Marvel.
Not for the 1960s, and even today 50% of NYC's population is white.
Luckily they replaced all those pesky white people. Problem solved.
I'm me.
Hell yeah brother
As a person who doesn't matter, I would like to say...whatever. It doesn't matter.
>I get triggered by black people so nobody will want to watch this cartoon. FACT!!
This dude is fricking desperate for attention OP made yet another spider-man thread ignore this moron.
>article cherrpicks the one Black person probably ever
Only good thing to come from this shitty show.
Who is the girl
Is this supposed to be Nico? Has the promo art really been out for 2 years?
Yep. Not even gonna piratemockwatch it, just gonna hit the 34s later.
Fine but what people really want now is
more like homeless, like b***hko
>Going home
As oppose to where else?
>*slams the door on you*
>ditko
>no jj or bugle cast
>Young Aunt may instad of her being old
>peter with backing from Norman Osborn
>only supporting cast member whose actually apidey related is Harry as some frickboi. Rest are random Marvel characters from the 2000s and 2010s
>peter having friends on high school
Disney XD Spider-Man is the cutest Spider-Man
And he had the cutest MJ
>already a nogger
Nor Romita which that panel's from. Dude's been sanitized into a lame ass homie.
Romita was when Peter started to actually grow up a bit instead of being an butthole 24/7 to be fair
Just please have some well animated fights. Something I can look up on youtube occasionally because of how cool it is.
>Why do we need another fricking Spider-Man in high school adaption?
Because Ultimate Spider-Man was a huge hit in the 00s.
Its been almost twenty five years people need to get the frick over ultimate and stop letting it be part of every spider-man adaption.
Tell that to the old fricks running things.
Isn't Avi Arad still on the Spidey bullshit?
lol remember when Stan talked about college-age people earnestly writing letters to them? Geez, people cared back then.
Ultimate was good because it offered another book for changes to occur and not affect the main one. If they did a series with a Peter who took longer to get out from his Ditko phase that'd make for a compelling series.
Basically this.
Peter's face here looking authoritative and serious while saying by golly is funny. It's like when OneyNG does a manly voice while saying something goofy and childish.
Meh if they were to put in a goth, Jessica Jones or Rogue would've worked better. Or maybe Psylocke or Firestar.
The only thing I like about this is the fact that it establishes Nico in the larger Peter harem.
personally I'd be surprised.
I like Peter being shredded under nerd clothes
>polluting Ditko SOUL art with smelly cornrow hair black people
Never forget what Amerisharts worship.
Yep, you've never read Ditko until you've read him in the original French.
i just want ultimate peter animated in its entirety. the fact that we will never get it and that disney used the name for that trash cartoon is a crime against humanity
Jeanne Foucault
Amadeus Cho
Lonnie Lincoln
Peter Parker
Nico Minoru
???
???
???
Does anyone know if this is still supposed to be canon to the MCU?
If so, making Tombstone Peter's peer is a good idea.
Including Nico as a teen in New York is dumb, though. How can she be one of the Runaways if she's on the complete other side of the country?
Peter looks really fruity here for some reason.
its the circle glasses
he needs proper incel ones
>high school Spiderman again
Frick off
I'd rather not have to deal with High School Peter AGAIN
I think it can be pretty good if they can handle somethings correctly.
Not sure what the frick they are doing with saying it's Not MCU but being MCU like
Is this going to look like this?
?si=sa8pcILHlRW0wZAj
So this was originally announced as an MCU prequel with a different title and now it is some Ditko amalgamation with a sporadic mix of modern stuff stuffed in? Who is this for?
What I’d give to see the behind the scenes stuff that happened with this series
>Hey guys, we’re making Spider-Man: Freshman Year, an animated prequel series to Spider-Man’s appearance in the MCU!
>Okay it’s not STRICTLY connected to the MCU, it’s kind of a What If thing where certain events happened differently
>Okay now it’s completely separated from the MCU
>And now it’s called Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
>inspired by Steve Ditko
>looks absolutely nothing like Steve Ditko
>it's the 1960s, Peter is the only white person on the show, everyone else is diverse and dressed like it's the 90s
>the one thing that made Ditko's Spider-Man unique will of course be completely avoided
Wow. Can't wait.
Making Harry a chad quarterback is moronic
Lonnie is the quarterback. Harry is the one with the green coat on the far right.
The metrosexual? I can see Norman being disappointed in that
I hate this trend of "Oh yeah we're totally inspired by the older original stuff" but then it just feels like an uncanny valley version of what they were going for. Like they Buffalo Bill'ed the original idea and are wearing it as if no one will notice the difference.
>we're gonna adapt the old comics!
>already a picture of a google
yeah sure they will
>gets beat up by a troony
>gets mindbroken into believing bullshit
lol lmao
>Homecoming
>Far from Home
>No Way Home
>We're Going Home
Well played, anon.
Why do you have this saved on your computer though?
It's from my private collection.
>another Peter in High School adaptation
