    People know that
    1. There are films coming out now than in decades past, and their accessibility is higher than ever.
    2. The quality of the home viewing experience is better than ever and can easily surpass 99% of commercial cinemas for less than $2000 investment by the owner.

Times change, the format has evolved. He's just complaining that the type of films he made aren't going to be making hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office anymore.
He's just a greedy old butthole.

This. I'm so tired of people saying shit like "where are the mid-budget movies? Why are there no dramas any more? Don't let my cinerino die!?" when we're constantly tripping over a stupid amount of high budget, HBO-tier series on streaming. It's fine, let cinema become a family day theme park, it's been going that direction for decades. Let me watch my mature, adult-aimed stuff at home, Jesus Christ.

      >This guy is protesting way too much and too loudly.

No he's not, the media is publishing his shit because his movie is coming out soon and so it is nothing more but publicity. Had this been last year then it wouldn't have made headlines at all.

I don't see how anyone takes these kinds of articles seriously when you know they're only thrown out to create buzz for a movie.

Just the fact that he considered it speaks for itself. DC has lots of shit films but when they make something good they make something iconic that people talk about in depth for years.

Obviously he's referring to the overabundance of comic book movies. I think he even mentions that if your read it in full. No one cared that Burton made a couple Batman movies back in the 90s either. You could make an argument that Nolan very muck kick-started the comic book era we have today though.

Bullshit. Books are utterly worthless. Nobody writes anything without the results being warped by their own prejudices & ego. 99% sit on shelves & in bookcases unread, unnoticed, & untouched. For the vast majority of people, books are simply ornaments to a room, advertising their owners intellectual vanity. One book in a million is ever re-read & even the so-called "classics" are dipped into and unadmittedly either force-read or discarded.

an interviewer asked him why the sound was so awful in interstellar that nothing could be understood, and he replied "that was intentional, the dialogue isn't important".

The problem is that Disney has monopolized the screen. In order to get disney movies in your theatre, Disney movies need to be on a large number of your screens for a length of time after its release(usually a month). Since 75% of movie sales come from Disney, there are only a select few weeks of the year on a select few screens you can get any other movie to play. Its not competition, and it just funnels all the money up to capeshit.
