>WGA wants all animation writing to be covered by the guild
>their demands include contractual diversity quotas in the scripts
>they also want to introduce minimum WGA staffing for all television writing which would effectively kill auteur-driven projects like Over the Garden Wall
Why would I support them again? This would be catastrophic for television.

It's American Culture. Just like how the Patriots demanded their rights under Britain, and protested, and fought for their rights. Except this time, the Patriots might actually get their compromised.
the Patriots were always a clique of landed gentry that fought to do away with the British Crown and keep all the riches from their slave plantations for themselves; the rest was just fluff. Exactly what
describes.
Frick the bosses, that's why you should support them
Unions are in almost every case the ones you should side with, Yankee brains need to wake tf up and stop chugging 1800s propaganda about "le evil unions!"
cringe
Burn Hollywood from Top to Bottom
In theory a decent boss could still exist. If the WGA takes over animation there's really no recovering. I'll take the gamble over sure defeat.
If the WGA makes America's animation industry go on strike Japan's animation industry will go on strike too.
Where this comes from? How are people itt so sure about it?
Go back to sucking dicks on reddit
If that shit becomes a rule expect people to make cartoons outside their system.
go back to sucking dicks on reddit
>literally none of those things are in the wga's demands

Just another quality thread by a frogBlack person who had nothing to say but wanted his ragebait reddit thread bumped for hours. Thank you mods. I guess you're too busy stalking people who post cartoon characters you don't like to actually delete offtopic shit.

Taylor Sheridan recently talked about how WGA demands would ruin his creative process.
>Some c**t from yellowstone who is in both SAG and WGA said some dumb shit a month ago
Cool story you fricking homosexual
Wrong board
Go back and stay in your containment
Dude writes bottom of the barrel boomerslop. What creative process does he have?
Over The Garden Wall was written by a WGA member
The WGA has said they want to unionize east coast animation writing after this dispute is settled, it's not part of their demands and neither are "diversity quotas"
Everything you just said is completely made up
Everyone ITT that took you at your word is a gullible bumbling moron
Over the Garden Wall already has multiple writers and is run by a WGA member. Where did you see that list of demands? Also you can be a WGA member and get a pass for doing something outside their guidelines, you just need to ask. Like if a network wanted you to do a truly auteur piece, you can let them know the nature of the project and it'll likely be fine.
There was a case of a studio wanting to hire someone back on a project but at a lower rate. The guy said "okay just let me talk to my guild first" and they dropped him. Pretty sure that was for a video game though.
This.
>their demands include contractual diversity quotas in the scripts
This part is false by the way.
https://www.wgacontract2023.org/the-campaign/wga-negotiations-status-as-of-5-1-2023
They also want to unionize Japan (who is willing to go on strike just to bring back family anime and kill off otaku/fujo anime), South Korea, Taiwan and The Philippines as well.
>and kill off otaku/fujo anime
Yea, shoving baloney down your slacks (see picture) will be the norm again.
I like how they use unionize as a transitive verb, the implication being that they will force people to join a union, doubtlessly theirs. Is "unionize" going to be the 21st century's contribution to such category of verbs like "collectivize", "communize", "expropriate", "nationalize", etc.?
That's always been the case. It's why they use the pejorative "scab" for anyone who doesn't want to be part of their union.
"Disagree with me and you're a traitor."
WHO THE FRICK UNBANNED FAMICOM FRICK YOU JANNY homosexualS
>They also want to unionize Japan (who is willing to go on strike just to bring back family anime and kill off otaku/fujo anime), South Korea, Taiwan and The Philippines as well.
Uhh Weebchuds, wtf are we gonna do?
Japan being 'weird' is the only shit that keeps anime alive as an artform and not subsumed by Americanism.
Thank god that the old guard of America Haters like Miyazaki are still alive.
Otaku/Fujo shit does not keep anime alive.
It's shows like Sazae-San, Chibi Maruko-Chan, Doraemon, Shin-Chan and Anpanman that is keeping anime alive, shows made for Japanese normies.
This isn't 2010. You can't pull the, "no one cares about anime outside of kids shows" anymore.
Of that list Anpanman and Hello Kitty are directed solely at children.
PreCure, FOTNS, and Eva are floated off of otakus. As is half of Pokemon.
Dragon Ball, Yugioh, Sailor Moon, and One Piece are middle of the road.
>I don't know how Japanese normies work.
>Doesn't know about /r/Sanrio and /r/HelloKitty, don't frick with adult Sanrio fans.
>Most of Anpanman's views come from streaming, not TV broadcasting anymore.
>FOTNS and Dragon Ball are bigger in Latin America then in Japan.
>Eva isn't viewed by normies, it's strictly a geeks franchise like how Star Trek and Star Wars are viewed in the States and Canada.
>Pokemon makes it's money through merch and mobile games, most people don't even know the anime is still running to a extent, but it's viewer ship is "well enough" and "mostly on streaming" while the console games are made strictly for the North American competitive market.
>One Piece, Conan and PreCure still do well in ratings, in fact Conan is the only shounen anime to still do well on broadcast (said to be because episodes are not uploaded to streaming sites right away) while One Piece and PreCure went to streaming for most of it's views.
>Sailor Moon and Yu-Gi-Oh do much better overseas then they do in Japan, hence why the Sailor Moon reboot was mostly done in The Philippines by Toei Philippines.
Didn't they want to get rid of Fair Use entirely by putting all IP content behind a paywalls that require manual approval?
No, if anything they wanted copyright law to be reduced to 75 years.
I thought one of their demands was a paywall for every clip of an actor's voice or pre-existing media, even if it was less than 10 seconds long
It wasn't.
Start shoving baloney down your slacks.
Oh no I sure hope the millionaire executives and soulless corporations win.
If you care about the medium you better pray they win.
Because the corps you dickride are the ones who actually do the shit you whinge about, stupid frogposter.
Do you seriously think WGA members aren’t massive woketards?
>it’s the evil megacorps who keep pushing homosexualry in cartoons!!
Yen’s right.
When it comes to "diversity quotas" they do that because they don't want employees to unionize and they want to market their content across cultures and ethnicities globally. Writers don't often choose diversity out of "wokeness".
Also you aren't posting the "woke" demands, you're just assuming that the WGA has those demands.
Anon… all you have to do is follow some WGA members to see that they’re all deranged ideologues. Why pay a writer to come up with another generic cartoon dyke couple if ChatGPT can do it for free? Their work is indistinguishable from AI anyway.
They deserve to starve.
So this is just a politically charged lying troll thread?
Where’s the lie?
You can look up their demands or the discussions about diversity:
>While the Guild's demands to studios do not specifically address the issue of diversity, WGA West board member and 2023 negotiating committee member Angelina Burnett told Reuters the negotiations the board put forward are intended to protect the economic stability of the industry for the new generation of WGA writers.
>"Preventing this business from sliding into gig work for all those people coming in, that's how we keep them in, that's how we protect their careers," said Burnett, who was a writer and producer for "The Americans".
https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/gains-diversity-among-hollywood-writers-stake-strike-2023-05-18/
There is someone asking for diversity language to be put into the demands, but the WGA has still kept it out. Based.
Writers aren't pro-diversity. The same writers who write about dark skinned lesbos. Right...
I support them because the faster the USA collapses the faster everyone in california either starves or is shot by angry arizonan ranchers trying to prevent them from moving eastwards on foot searching for food and fuel after the collapse of their soi-ciety.
Ok moron
Hope these strikes go on forever and the entire industry collapses
>Strikers are getting WFH and SNAP benefits.
>Washington DC is supporting the guilds.
>The US animation industry is likely to go on strike with the writers and actors.
>The animation industries of Canada, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and The Philippines are also likely to join.
I hope it gets bigger and something like a collapse happens to highlight the concept of stocks and fiduciary obligations naturally drive most people to poverty when they're not desperately tied to those stocks that are doing better at their present expense. All the tune of massive payouts to execs. The bigger this gets, the more people will be aware of these problems and the greater chance for reform.
The only ones getting hurt by this are the execs.
The strikers will win this one without even trying.
>Industry collapses
>We won
Fricking moron
>America's industry collapses
>Japan wins and gets pay back for DuckTales'17, Animaniacs'2020 and Tiny Toons Looniversity.
>DuckTales, Animaniacs and Tiny Toons (and to a extent TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck) return to Japan where they belong.
>Family anime becomes the norm again and otaku/fujo/toyetic anime disappears from the industry.
It's true. Small projects can make a lot of money, if that's what the industry becomes with no profit skimming execs that's actually really cool and no one has should have a problem with that.
Animation Guild member here. Consensus is that if animation went WGA, most companies would fold all their kids divisions since it would be economically impossible to support most productions
Based
No more beanmouth garbage for little kids
*for manchildren.
Japan is finally getting it's revenge for DuckTales'17, Animaniacs'2020 and Tiny Toons Looniversity.
No, only dark skinned lesbos wright about dark skinned lesbos.
>be at a bootlicking competiton
>opponent is an american chud defending billion dollar companies
I KNEEL.
>studio bonuses plummet
Do /misc/turds think this is helping them? Just ourage threads with lies?
Because all that makes me to do is just hate them on the same level I hate sjw.
NTA but how much do you hate the Capitalists who control media and its industry? I think we can agree they are worse than sjw and pol/tards combined
What are the diversity quotas?
>they also want to introduce minimum WGA staffing for all television writing which would effectively kill auteur-driven projects like Over the Garden Wall
No it wouldn't? Over the Garden Wall had a writers room, and 15 people are actually credited in the show for writing and storyboarding
A) You need to have a nice day because you're frogposting.
B) I hate corporations.
Alright I'll play along. Even if I did care about the outcome of this, what are we supposed to do about it? We're not in the union nor are we the CEOs. Personally I'm just going to wait this out and whatever happens, happens
>their demands include contractual diversity quotas in the scripts
Might as well kill creative freedom while youre at it
>they also want to introduce minimum WGA staffing for all television writing which would effectively kill auteur-driven projects like Over the Garden Wall
What the frick does that even mean anyways?
>>WGA wants all animation writing to be covered by the guild
This could potentially mean no more board-driven shows ever again, or all shows being board-driven.
>their demands include contractual diversity quotas in the scripts
Most of the time it's nothing to do with diversity. It's just the untalented hacks who uses their race to survive the system.
That part is fake.
https://www.wgacontract2023.org/the-campaign/wga-negotiations-status-as-of-5-1-2023
It's implicit. We're talking about the same breed of Californian apparatchiks that asks for your pronouns before they ask for your name.
Dude, the people behind the strike are all pro-Trump and anti-Biden conservatives, they do not give 2 shits about "moronic pronouns" and all they want is to return to the days where shoving baloney down your slacks is a federal requirement.
>their demands include contractual diversity quotas in the scripts
source?
bootlicker
I don't care, this strike is going to prove that streaming was a massive failure, investors will pull their funding, which will hopefully lead to the death of all of Hollywood.
The WGA is a cult.
What do you mean? This started when execs wouldn't put AI on the table unregulated and without conditions meaning that they wanted the ability to phase people out of writing.
Maybe people should be able to compete with a mindless machine?
You might as well tell me it's wrong to fight performance enhancing drugs since no only does it gives teams and players an edge, it makes it more entertaining. We regulate efficient things all the time and it's okay. Unlimited, unregulated use of AI is something that only benefits execs.
>You might as well tell me it's wrong to fight performance enhancing drugs since no only does it gives teams and players an edge, it makes it more entertaining.
False equivalence. There is no concept of fairness in the movie making business, there is no expectation of such from the audience. Otherwise we'd mandate every production be given the same budget.
>Unlimited, unregulated use of AI is something that only benefits execs
So? I'm not trying to be callous here, I'm asking sincerely. If you guys don't want to use AI, that's your business. But you're not entitled to investment. If you ban AI while other entertainment industries adopt and thrive with it, companies will exit the movie business and invest their money in those places instead.
>meaning that they wanted the ability to phase people out of writing
If you truly believe this is the endgame, then there is no reason to prolong the strike, because AI development doesn't stop with the strike. The window you have between now and AI writing taking over is only growing shorter and shorter. Once we reach that point, none of these union negotiations will matter because every studio will rip up the contracts and opt to become a non-union studio.
WGA is wasting precious time. Writers should be learning to incorporate AI into their work flow right now.
Also, the push to ban AI means that we're going to be stuck with shitty, Whedonesque writing for another decade. This MCU shit isn't going away anytime soon.
As opposed to shitty Whedonesque dialogue but it's made by a robot so that makes it okay?
Like you homosexuals don't seem to grasp that AI spits out
1. What's fed into it
2. What it's asked for.
Getting rid of all the wokies that you hate isn't going to change either of those things because the suits asking for it are just going to say "make me an Avengers I want a billion dollars too".
ai scab thread
Do you really think that people are going to remain loyal to people in the industry who don't care about anybody who doesn't live in Los Angeles
Replacing them with AI is a dream, but of course that is super imposed with AI enhancing the work of real artists
t
>Overgrown child makes cringe response
Remember, as the animation industry ans other crappy stuff crumbles you caused it by being such a crappy person.
You're not being honest because it's obvious that AI is already putting out better artwork and writing than the animation industry, it's just that these tools can't be used to put together a cartoon yet.
And the technology constantly improves and will keep constantly improving. If people won't improve themselves they're always going to be left in the dust
>You're not being honest because it's obvious that AI is already putting out better artwork and writing than the animation industry, it's just that these tools can't be used to put together a cartoon yet.
lol no namegay AI can't even do stuff on demand for drawthreads here.
shut the frick up you stroke victim
They're bringing in people from New York to participate and Tokyo is looking to join in.
When you get WFH and SNAP benefits you don't need to worry about going homeless nor running out of food.
Oh god not you again
>You should hate this thing because black people might get a job
Yeah o dont give a shit what happens, anything worth watching or preserving has already happened. All the new goyslop is just that, goyslop.
