I refuse to believe that. A children's television program is better than this fricking thing.
Look at this, it's a fricking story that's supposed to be the fall of Rome and re-emerging from the Dark Ages but in space. But what we are given is spaceship dodging giant mecha, dudes with guns running around picking fights with the peasants, melee combat, and probably one of the shittiest seductions of brilliant men I've maybe ever seen.

It wasn't a fumble, it was a frick up of such magnitude I wouldn't hire this man to write a story ever again. I would blacklist this fricker forever. I wouldn't hire this guy if he paid me to hire him.

It already does a far inferior job compared to the books, which literally replaced the main characters almost every few chapters since this is supposed to be spanning centuries.

It's maximum comfykino. You're reading about how the First Foundation deals with various threats to its rise and it's more about taking lateral approaches instead of just direct violence, basically the opposite of Star Wars. Eventually the chronicle slows down to focus more on individual characters pivotal to the events but it's still just an all around entertaining read.

Books had zero shitty parts. Which only makes the show all the more disgusting.
The decay isn't really explored until the prequel books, it starts with a prologue with Seldon already setting events in motion (this is also the only part where Gaal shows up, who is a man and just a throwaway character to introduce us to Hari Seldon.) After that it fast-forwards to the formation of the First Foundation on Terminus, which started small but rapidly advanced and expanded. It doesn't encounter the deterorating Empire until the second book, the first book is all about contending with its neighbors (other factions that broke off from the Empire to declare independence).
It's really comfy, it's not about Rebels vs Empire. The Empire's collapse happens over the course of centuries due to mismanagement and corruption, along with emperors that were increasingly inept or shortsighted. Less Star Wars, more decline of the Roman Empire.
The empire parts are the best chunks of the show even if the quality of them has seriously declined. The show really suffers every time we are subjected to another Terminus segment.

There aren't supposed to be any 'empire parts' you fricking moron. What a dogshit fricking show.
>all this focus on the empire and its cruelty
Jesus they missed the mark so hard. The empire's problem wasn't that it was tyrannically run by fascists, in fact that probably would've given it longer life. The empire was declining under incompetent leadership and a bloated bureaucracy that could no longer keep all of its systems and worlds in check.
>The empire was declining under incompetent leadership
Just like the show. The explicitly state in season one that Empire is a faulty person who should have only lived a normal lifespan and there would have been an ep and flow to how the empire is run. Instead it's the same BS everyday because he won't give up the reigns to someone else.
Yes. His most famous works relate to robotics and AI. He foresaw the internet as it exists today back in the 70s. Not just as some business or military system but as a place where autistic hobbyist can sit around and talk about baseball statistic and all kinds of pointless nonsense.

Being a homosexual and homos getting married is exclusively an American invention, just like having sex with little boys was a Greek thing, or incest was a Habsburg thing, and will cease to exist when America does

There's a lot of Black folk in it but there weren't any gays until the one of the latest episodes (
>new 'my wifes son'
can't even into those bits anymore
) but people aren't talking about social issues because they've got bigger fricking problems, and surprisingly I don't think there is a single interracial couple so far.
it's dumb that they managed to make the cleon stuff compelling and interesting but then after his cool development they just skipped and switched to another one a few gens down the line
that is apparently playing a fool and plotting some weird shit against the cringe acting le seductive muttina
I could care less about the Black folk and women but why does every sci Fi show have to have those dark cold lighting scene it's literally every single one. We haven't had a bright sci Fi movie since the 90s wtf is going on
I got really into Dune recently and decided to give this a shot but it just didn't drag me in. Too childlike? is maybe the best word I could use to describe it. The Emperor trio thingy seems very goofy. I made it through half an episode, maybe I'll try to finish episode 1 and give it til episode 3.
Coming from a literary perspective Asimov and Herbert are worlds apart.
I really enjoy early/golden era sci fi like Asimov but Herbert is effectively another genre in comparison.
The older scifi capture something that can no longer exist in our degraded, failed to launch world.
I fell for capeshitters here who told me the new Dune movie sucked, I watched it and immediately picked the book up afterwards. Burned through the Frank Herbert novels in record time.
Yeah Herbert is a blast. Read Hellstrom's Hive. It's definitely one that feels closer to traditional sci-fi, because he has other stuff that is pretty out there like Dune but HH involves insectmen and Oregon whereas the Pandora series (which I also highly recommend) is more akin to Dune but is still a bit more classically grounded than Dune.
He's an interesting author, I think I've read most of not all of his work. Same with Asimov. Two sides of the same coin but still different sides nonetheless.
>Frank Herbert reacting to reading foundation, day 1 >"the only reason Seldon could've predicted the future was if he ate copious amounts of literal shit"
This shit looks Xena/Hercules tier. Tens of millions just to make a show that looks on par with something filmed in the 90s on a shoestring budget around a New Zealand farm road. Contemporary film and television production is so fricking pathetic.
I'm not gonna watch this because the Black folk are ugly.
why would you watch Black folk in your freetime like serious question bros
arent you happy when there is no Black folk in your field of view?
who are they even making these "shows" for?
who watches this Black person crap?
I finished the entire Foundation series a couple of years ago, and I kept envisioning how it would actually look, scenes playing out in my head. Was excited to think it would be a show. This deserved to be bigger than Game of Thrones, with centuries worth of material for many seasons, and on an epic scale. They fricked it all up, simple as that.
I just can't get over how bad modern writing has become, the whole Terminus storyline is a disaster, at least the Empire one is somewhat entertainable, but holy shit, people actually get paid writing that shit?
Not even going to talk about how abysmal the acting is when it comes to Terminus.
Is it just me or is this season better so far on average? The lows are not as low past season, but also I haven't seen any real highs yet.
The improvements they've done are pretty good, focusing on the empire more, less Mary sue-tier stuff, even salvor Hardin seems much more leveled and competent.
Maybe it's just cope I dunno, correct me if I'm wrong. Visuals are more amazing then ever ofc
I finished the first season right about when the second one started so there wasn't any gap like I presume you've had. For me, it's basically the same. Hari is still just a supergenius that wants to save the galaxy with heckin magic math. That's what we knew about him at the start of the first season and that's what we know now. 0 progression at all.
Salvor and Gaal are still godawful. Their writing is terrible, particularly Salvor. Her actor is also genuinely tbad as well. Gaals is at least somewhat competent but I can't take anything about her seriously after that 10 minute fart sniffing technobabble bullshit when she was trying to find the location of the ship on a star map. If you're gonna gender swap both of the MCs on your show at least make them somewhat interesting.
I really like all the Empire stuff though. That's pretty much why I still watch this shitty show.
>That's what we knew about him at the start of the first season and that's what we know now. 0 progression at all.
There are now two Haris though.
Salvor's acting was bad in s1 but it's better in s2. Maybe she plays off of Gaal's actress better or she had more practice.
Sometimes it helps to know how to read. They're saying that if you just watch the show you'd assume it was the most expensive show ever made but its not since the show only costs 45 million.
All Appletv shows look the same. Very digital, very stilted with a gay filter. A different hue for each show.
You tell me foundation cost 45 million? Whatever. All these shows look the same. 45 million or 450, it doesn't matter.

i simply cant watch any more negresses
just impossible
too bad the show is shit
emperor scenes and jared harris can't save it
>I heckin love Black folk and Dykes in my Asimov space epic! I especially love when they're Black personDykes!
What even is it? Who fricking cares we all know everything they put out now is trash from the get go.
Then we located all your posts and threads, past and present. The first dubs you got, the E-girl you gave your money to. Your memes and co-posters, even those here in the thread. We located their posts and threads, basically anyone in your extended chan. In short the anons that would remember you after you're banned. Even as we speak every member of your personal constellation is under our surveillance, a range ban targeting each of their IP's. At my signal they will all cease to post.
how can janny be so cruel
>They spread out across cyberspace, founding other chans so that they could continue to shitpost outside of his cruel judgement.
j-janny stop
dude just no. why not find someone pretty? you'd have to pay me to watch that.
She actually is pretty cute in real life. They deliberately uglify her.
They should just make a show based around the first Cleon and the first few Empires.
Saving that for the prequel spinoff. And the robot/AI wars.
the books were already dry af with very little character development
now they have added Black folk to it, its not going to work
she qt tho
She's practically 99% white. Let me plap plap plap and the kid will be perfect.
It's pretty good
How woke is it, though. Every episode of Ted Lasso season 3 feels like “a very special episode …”
There's a lot of Black folk in it but there weren't any gays until the one of the latest episodes (
) but people aren't talking about social issues because they've got bigger fricking problems, and surprisingly I don't think there is a single interracial couple so far.
it's dumb that they managed to make the cleon stuff compelling and interesting but then after his cool development they just skipped and switched to another one a few gens down the line
that is apparently playing a fool and plotting some weird shit against the cringe acting le seductive muttina
I could care less about the Black folk and women but why does every sci Fi show have to have those dark cold lighting scene it's literally every single one. We haven't had a bright sci Fi movie since the 90s wtf is going on
Know future episodes, ama.
Dune was a frick you from Herbert to Asimov.
>Frank Herbert reacting to reading foundation, day 1
>"the only reason Seldon could've predicted the future was if he ate copious amounts of literal shit"
>you can't predict history from math, humans are way too complex for that
>but do you know what CAN predict the future?
>psychedelic drugs
Bless Frank.
wasn't the butlarian jihad fueled by the fact AI could predict human behavior?
As understood by Frank, yes, and was used by other human to frick up each others civs.
As understood by his frickwad kid and Anderson, no, cuz AI EVIL OVERLORDS!
The ending of the books hippie communism was so bad that it made me regret reading the thousands of pages to get there
>on TV
IT'S NOT ON FRICKING TV. IT'S ON A STREAMING CHANNEL ERGO IT'S ON THE FRICKING INTERNET.
Cable is effectively dedicated streaming bandwidth now. It's all the same underlying system, your malding over the UI basically.
I thought RoPe was a kajillion dollars to do Tolkeins legacy "justice" or whatever bullshit they said.
I finished the entire Foundation series a couple of years ago, and I kept envisioning how it would actually look, scenes playing out in my head. Was excited to think it would be a show. This deserved to be bigger than Game of Thrones, with centuries worth of material for many seasons, and on an epic scale. They fricked it all up, simple as that.
but at least you got another show full of ugly Black folk to look at
why are writers so butthurt when they can't even write a book adaptation?
>adjusted for inflation, le greenscreen show costs more than Ran, Waterloo, and Lawrence of Arabia
It does look really good. The early seasons of GoT cost 100M.
>There are now two Haris though.
Yeah and both of them are one note bores despite being played by one of the best living actors
how are the empire scenes in s2? I skipped all the foundation in s1
highlight of the series
they should focus more on it
Mule character could be top kino
They're very pretty at times.
Or shit pew pew laser crap. But at least we will get to see this fricker glass Trantor
No more pussy boy Dawn but we have yet another brown girl boss to contend with even in the Empire scenes.
Now you have Foundation, Empire and Salvor/Gaal adventures arcs.
Empire's story is weaker so far in season 2. It's good in the season premiere then tanks after that.
Oh look, an angry brown dyke, can't wait to watch this one...
didnt that hobbit show cost a billie? so wtf they talking aboot most expensive?
Sometimes it helps to know how to read. They're saying that if you just watch the show you'd assume it was the most expensive show ever made but its not since the show only costs 45 million.
Again with this guy rushing to reply to everyone and not understanding what he's reading.
They race and gender swapped the main character.
They also did it in Silo.
Apple is cursed. Cursed company. Pure evil. Must destroy. Utskushii namida, yume mitai.
