I liked her first appearance because rick laid down the most scathingly accurate critique of therapy in history, and then she somehow sized him up in an instant and gave him an equally scathing and brutally honest assessment herself. That is how you BALANCE your writing. neither one has to 'win' they just both make incredibly good and quotable points

Doctor Wong and Space Beth both fricking suck. The President sucks too, though. I'm hard pressed to think of characters I actually like, Unity and Doofus Rick I guess? That's about it.
To be honest, none of the characters are actually likable.
Dr. Wong doesn’t suck because “le womyn writers” meme or “therapy doesn’t real, Morty” but because it’s the absolute laziest way to tell, not show, character development.

The person who created her to be one hasn’t worked on the show for 7 years. The real reason she sticks around is they like working with the VA and Pickle Rick is Dan Harmon’s favorite episode.
The only decent character left is principal vegana, but that’s due to the show forgetting that he exist.
Doctor Wong really wouldn’t have been a thing had Roiland not been lazy and continued to be involved with the show’s development. Her only purpose was to be one of the female writers’ self-inserts who thought that talking down to a character that’s almost on par with God in terms of destruction would be “empowering”
The idea of Rick Sanchez, a guy who’s known to not care about anything and only helps his family because of what happened to his original daughter going to regular earth therapy just seems so against his character. Rick solves his own issues, him blowing shit up and killing people after things go wrong IS his therapy.
