What an overhyped shitfest. Was half of the budget for Pacino’s cocaine? He was insufferable in this

It's capeshit for people who don't like capeshit, just a bunch of shit happening that's supposed to be cool, no substance
what movies do you feel have substance?
Not seeing the capeshit connection at all. Seems like you’re using it as a synonym for “thing I don’t like.”
Thief > Heat
It was a solid hour too long. It needed to be way tighter in terms of pacing and cut out a ton of filler. People only ever talk about the first scene, the heist shootout and the coffeeshop scene. Does anyone ever mention Pacino's arthor gf or Val Kilmer?
They're not even comparable
not even close. I love thief, but heat is way better.
I'm old enough to recall the release of this picture getting hyped-to-frick on TV. It was classed as 2 titans (Al and Bob) coming together delivering electrifying performances. I wasn't pulled in by the ad campaign, and watched it many years later, finding it distinctly average, with 1 excellent scene: the bank heist.
I have a love hate relationship with this flick. The heist and the LA night vibes are immaculate but the actual story and performances are pretty mid.
fr fr spic?
Why was he so scared of going back to prison?
Because he didn't have a tattoo on his forehead that said born to lose
The cinematography is still kino in 4K. But every hack has aped everything (Nolan) about the film so it loses a bit of its luster. De Niro is far better when playing a more nuaced performance here it’s actually Pacino’s hammy shit performance that has aged worse. Eno’s score still rocks.
>But every hack has aped everything (Nolan) about the film so it loses a bit of its luster.
I'll never understand morons who say shit like this
nothing that comes after will ever take away from the original
you have bad genes and poorly functioning brains at best
go away
where my heathomies at , Mann's working on Heat 2
Heat was just a chick flick with guns. It was all about these guys and their relationships and the toll their jobs played on their personal lives, and a little bit of violence sprinkled in.
Heat 2, the novel anyway, was complete shit. The flashbacks go back a decade or so to when Hanna is still a detective in Chicago hunting a serial killer, McNeil and crew are involved in a heist in Chicago, the serial killer is loosely tied to McNeil through another criminal, McNeil and crew decide to take down a cartel payroll, McNeil's woman is involved, and everyone's path's cross.
Fast forward to after the events of the movie and Cheherlis is on the run and ends up getting involved in the international arms trade, but can't stop dreaming of getting his wife and son back and killing Hanna. Fast forward a few years and he's back in LA. Hanna, Cheherlis, the serial killer, and McNeil's past all collide at the end.
It was just your typical action adventure story and a sequel nobody asked for because it wasn't like the movie didn't say everything that needed to be said.
it's comical how all these boomer directors take their biggest hit and write wack fan fiction fan service horseshit that no one wants or asked for
>. Was half of the budget for Pacino’s cocaine?
Yes.
he literally even admitted it in a live Q&A with Mann
SHE'S GOT A GREAT ASS
AND YOU GOT YO HEAD… ALL THE WAY UP IT!
>Heat
>Blue
Good to see this classic masterpiece is now getting the "pretending to hate it so people start talking about it" treatment.
Pretty much confirmed (you)s. What is there to discuss that hasn't yet been said? We're all due for a rewatch regardless.
morons do actually hate it because of the pacing
anybody want some pie?
Another homosexual zoomer thread
>Was half of the budget for Pacino’s cocaine?
Yes, and it was necessary for the movie to be this good.
Yeah I went in with tempered expectations and still found it lacked any real substance. It was probably hyped by people who are used to seeing shitty action films in the first place though and they don't really make them like this anymore.
Michael mann never make a good movies, I piss and shit on him
Whats Kilmers best movie?
he had to get it on
