We're in the fujo era. It will pass eventually. I wonder what will come next; a return to yurihomosexualry or straight ships?

Do you think this is result of a trend in animation or a greater trend in culture?

I think it's just a regular vacillation. Remember how the early 2000s to 2010s was all about "How would it be if 2 girls kissed? jk jk...unless"

I think the main thing is most of the prominent creative yurigays have either gone insane or gone into hiding/retreated from the internet. They usually tend to dominate popular cartoon and comics media otherwise

we just had like, the yuri era. Steven Universe and She-Ra and Owl House and Korra and Adventure Time and even some in horse show. so now it's yaoi time.

No we fricking ain't, we're in the yuri era

The irony is gay rights is what killed the original fujo era as we knew it because there was no longer a "forbidden fruit" or this idea of giving into a social taboo that made it hot for the largely heterosexual female crowd who were into yaoi at the time. Plus, actual gay people typically hated it back then because of how weirdly rapey and fetishized it all was. So I think the current gay shipping era is gonna stick around a bit more.

age of consent in most states and developed european countries is 16 and 17. so if the gap consists of values of 16 and up, it's not forbidden because it's not even illegal. know the law.

We need more straight fujos who like the source material for what it is and don't get their panties in a wad over their targets of affection having canonical love interests. Plenty of male toongays seem to be able to do this; you see lots of guys waifuing married toon women without screeching about their husband (not all, like our resident Sharon McGee gay who whines about Pete). In fact some even appreciate the loving, faithful wife aspect of the character.

I have been lurking in the fujo fandom as a man for like 15 years. It used to be less obnixious. Like people understood to stay in the circles they liked. What happened? Did the normie and lower iq women get in?

lower tech literacy coupled with politics poisoning everything, happened around 2013-2015

socmed killed topic-exclusive forums and made people think they are on a crusade to cleanse everything they don't like and evangelize their subculture. you can see it even here

That's what happens when you force the whole internet into the same 5 places. Nobody goes, "Don't like? Go somewhere else." Instead everyone is stuck on Twitter/Facebook/nuChan with a bunch of people they don't agree with and whoever becomes owner/mods "wins and starts purging which leads to trolls more concerned with being viscious and confrontational than funny.

Cinemaphile using the 'fujoshi' as the latest buzzword to toss around constantly and gossiping about/being armchair experts about what dumb women on the internet like has been a very annoying thing to sit through these last few years

lol pretty much. They whined about lesbians and now they’re whining about gay men. It’s like these homosexuals never sat down and realized there’s more to women than “shitting up” their hobbies. Oh, and the funny part? a good third of fujos are Les/bi.
Maybe this Fujo epidemic can be cured if writers wrote women as people, not waifu bait. Maybe just maybe we’ll see more lesbian shit or whatever.

I saw someone use "fujo" in the context of a female self inserter
They don't even know what it means, it's just a word for "woman I don't like" much like how incel is now a word for "man I don't like"

FUJO MEANS SOMETHING. Cinemaphile is a Japanese board but a vast majority who use it are newbies who's idea of a fujo is underage Twitter girl sperging about her husbando, not older women who's been in the scene for a decade or so. Shit inflames my autism. If I see another homosexual using fujo in the context of yumegays, I'm gonna nuke myself.
