What are some good nautical themed movies/shows? I've seen picrel, lighthouse, the terror (S1), the bounty, the perfect storm, castaway and some more I can't remember right now. Kon-tiki is on my list.

The North Water was p great
hornblower
Hornblower
You’d be dead way before that, the ocean itself kills you
Das Boot
Meh, doesn't need to be mentioned all the time just because it's German. It's underwater and takes place in closed spaces. It's not a real ship sailing the waves making port in exotic locations.
Seen it. It's great though.
Never seen it. Will check it out.
Spongebob unironically.
>The ocean is terrifying.
Yeah I know that's the appeal of these movies to me.
I actually have a lot of pics and info and all but I'm honestly tired of having to type all that shit every time.
None of the movies I listed have anything to do with sharks. The best of what I listed are more adventure and drama than anything else. Sure it's not Frederico Fellini tier but that's not what I'm asking for.
this is my favorite version of treasure island

You posted the wrong pic
that one is fun
yeah im feeling like a swiss family robinson rewatch too
I havent seen this since I was a kid. Will have to rewatch it. This and Swiss Family Robinson.
The 1990 TV movie with Charlton Heston and Christian Bale is hugely underrated kino
Think you missed The North Water, which is honestly better than Terror S1 in some ways.
there's lots to choose from if you're requirement is that it takes place on a boat or near water
>love boat
>hawaii five-0
>captain phillips
>final countdown
>laconia miniseries
>sink the lusitania
>gustloff
tons of older stuff as well from before ~1970 or so.
Nostos: Il ritorno
Hunt for Red October
Deep Water/The Mercy (these are both the true story of a man who went insane during a sailboat race, can't remember which is the good movie)
All is Lost
Moby Dick
Dead Calm
Waterworld
>All is Lost
>The North Water
>Hornblower
>Das Boot
Fricking love Boats lads.
> All is Lost
I need to rewatch this one but I remember it being awesome. Robert Redford sold it.
>The North Water
Looks like a solid recommendation. Thanks fellow boat loving anon.
>All is Lost
Never heard of this, trailer looks great, downloading now
step brothers
North water is kino as frick
U571 and black sea is submarino kino
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2261331/
Added Black Sea and North Water.
>U571
Lol I'll add this too. I can't believe Matthew McConaughey, Harvey Keitel and Bill Paxton are in the same movie.
I cant believe you never seen U571
It was a big movie at the time.
I really like it, but black sea is even better
>I cant believe you never seen U571
not him but i owned it on HD DVD
>HD DVD
I see Chads still walk among us. My hats off to you sir, thank you for your service.
i bought the 360 HD DVD player expansion with the remote, and it came with 5 or 6 free HD DVDs by mail. only saw 1 or 2 of them though. king kong and u571
Try white squall
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Squall_(film)
Pretty kino
Amistad
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amistad_(film)
I remember watching White Squall as a kid. The dolphin scene fricked me up. Need to rewatch it.
tbh I think last time I watched it was when I was a teenager, I remember the movie quite well too so it must have been a good movie for me to remember it so well.
I remember the ending of course, the movie flips in tone 3/4 way in. Trying not to spoil it for others
The Abyss
The Fog (john carpenter version)
The Old Man and the Sea (with Spencer Tracy)
I just got the Abyss recently. Going to rewatch it in 4k. I remember watching it as part of a late night scifi feature as a kid. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's like Contact but less boring and in the ocean.
Mutiny on the Bounty with Brando and the Mutiny 1984
>Mutiny on the Bounty
ngl I would love a real well made movie that depicts the entire events from their leaving port, mutiny, then settling on the island and breaking up to being hunted and then descendants.
It would be a huge movie but it is such a kino story.
The island to this day is all descended from the 1 guy.
Its an interesting story, worth a read even just the wiki page if you dont know it already
Would they be cool enough to depict it as it really happened so accurately portraying Bligh as the hero? Because I think there's a chance. The Hopkins-Gibson version came the closest to the truth and I think next time the filmmakers would've felt obliged to show how the mutineers basically kidnapped and abused the friendly Tahitian women.
I want to see a movie made about Magellans circumnavigation per "Over the Edge of the World" book. It's so fricking crazy. They are all dying of scurvy at one point and wake up next to Guam surrounded by islanders in polynesian pontoon boats. They go to the island and basically drink, party and bang all the women. They find out that the people on Guam thought they were the only people on Earth. Absolutely wild. That book describes Gullivers Travels-level hijinks.
>An HBO miniseries about this ending with shots of the Pitcairn inbreds doing ordinary island stuff
Why do israelites finance Wakanda and cape shit again?
Damn the Defiant
>dude boats lmao
why are guys like this?
>Not liking one of the most ancient and important things ever invented
I dont know I guess I'm moronic and should watch tiktok
Woman detected
It deserves its 5.3/10 I think, but if you are in the mood for ww2 naval kino then this should scratch the itch. Check out the trailer.
Blackbeard
Treasure Island (christian bale version)
Hunt for red october
Is Amisted and Looking for the Bounty the same movie? Because I have a hazy memory as a kid but not sure if it was two movies or the same movie
Greyhound, if you don't mind the anime tier nazi u-boot death squad.
The operational part on the destroyer is kino
Feels completely different than Master and Commander but this is one of the best movies that take place on the sea. Great villain and suspense, plus I fricking love the scene where Sam Neil gets on the other boat and sees all the corpses and shit. I have a hard on for morbid shit like that. Shit I think I'm gonna get drunk and watch this tonight actually.
Sam Neil you say? I'll add it to the list. He's in some weird movies man. Mouth of Madness, Event Horizon etc
It's not a weird movie really but the scene I was talking about does have some event horizon vibes. It's better than those movies though which are both good but super flawed. This movie is basically a perfect thriller kino.
